Chapter 253 245: Unstoppable
Not long ago, the Dragon Nest was little more than a showroom for treasure chests—a spacious, comfortable sanctuary.
But now, it had transformed into a brutal octagon.
Here, Pasha was undergoing brutal, Dragon-style training.
Its instructor, Necied, faithfully carried out Luh Yao's orders, schooling the Juvenile Dragon in real combat.
He wasn't using his new weapon, the Bloodsucking Giant Axe. Instead, he relied solely on the power of his Armor to body-slam the Dark Sun Dragon. He would grab it by the tail and repeatedly smash it against the ground, and the moment Pasha struggled back up, he would launch the next wave of his assault.
At first, Pasha tried playing dead, collapsing to the ground and feigning unconsciousness.
But the experienced Blood Knight wasn't fooled in the slightest, simply delivering a diving knee strike.
Coughing up a pool of Blood, the Juvenile Dragon rolled away and scrambled frantically to its feet.
"Your enemies won't show mercy just because you've passed out."
The Blood Knight stalked toward it. "Only in death will it end."
A frightened expression appeared over Pasha's head.
It had no choice. The Juvenile Dragon could only brace for the beating, desperately spitting Dragon Breath, rolling, moving, and dodging. Its goal wasn't to defeat the Blood Knight, but simply to slow his attacks and spare itself some pain.
Beside the Dragon Nest, Snowman Jimmy, who was watching, waved his red gloves and shouted angrily, "Pasha! Fight! How can you win if you don't hit him? You have to get up and fight!"
"You have to beat him, or you'll just keep getting pummeled!"
The Juvenile Dragon, scurrying for cover, had a sweat-drop emoji pop up over its head.
Cancong also commented from the sidelines, "Mr. Pasha truly lacks combat experience. Its speed is low, its agility poor, its strength is lacking, and its Dragon Language Magic is crude and full of errors. The Dragon Blood Ceremony is absolutely necessary. If it were to encounter a truly powerful foe in its current state, its weaknesses would be easily exploited, putting it in mortal danger."
"It's very difficult for a member of the Dragon Race to reach maturity. Because of their unique traits, they are coveted by other Extraordinary Beings in every world. Not only must they constantly face challengers, but they also have to balance their inner ferocity and reason as they grow and molt. They are also under constant pressure from Rule Power."
"The more blood shed in training, the less you'll be wounded in battle."
When it came to the Juvenile Dragon, Cancong was surprisingly strict.
It turned its upper torso—all that remained of it—and bowed to Luh Yao before the screen.
"Lord God, thank you for allowing me to see a Dragon before I pass. Mr. Pasha will be the future hope of the Dragon Residence."
"I am about to die. My next incarnation may not find you so quickly, as it will not have these memories."
"Please have Patience and wait for Mr. Pasha to grow. It is about to undergo its first molting. Once it completes this process, it will have its first awakening."
"According to the laws of the Dragon bloodline, it will learn a Dragon Language Magic from its Dragon Blood during this first awakening and create its own Exclusive ability. It will then come to a profound understanding of the importance and strategic value of Magic."
"A Dragon grows stronger with every awakening."
"Only after completing its first awakening can Mr. Pasha be considered truly past its juvenile ignorance, having received its Enlightenment and entered the Growth Stage. It will then be of greater assistance to you."
"And after awakening a second time, Mr. Pasha will surely remember the coordinates to the Dragon Residence…"
As it finished speaking, Cancong's body slowly faded away, leaving behind only a small black sphere.
The simulator displayed:
[Apostle Cancong has died.]
Luh Yao felt a pang of regret.
'I wonder if the next Cancong will be able to find its way back to me.'
Luh Yao clicked on the small sphere.
...
[Cancong's Memory]
It contained a portion of Cancong's memories.
...
Luh Yao stored it in his Artifact Bar. If a future Cancong managed to find him, he would give it this memory, along with the one on his own arm. Then it would understand everything.
But whether Cancong would ever find its way here again, and whether it would choose to trust the as-yet-unmet Luh Yao from among all the Pioneers—that was another matter entirely.
Luh Yao's gaze returned to the center of the screen.
In the Dragon Nest, Pasha's body was curled into a ball.
Its body was stiff and still, dotted with bloodstains. In the pixelated graphics, it looked just like a corpse.
However, a status icon appeared over Pasha's head: [Molting].
The first awakening had begun.
The Blood Knight and the Snowman stood guard nearby, waiting and watching in silence.
After a moment, Pasha's outer skin shattered, and a new body stretched out from within.
The Dark Sun Dragon's level remained unchanged at LV 30, but its Life Value, Mana Value, and Offensive and Defensive Ability had all increased to varying degrees. Furthermore, it had gained a new Dragon Language Magic.
...
[Unstoppable]
[Pasha's Exclusive Ability] Pasha grabs and suppresses an enemy before body-slamming them, dealing massive damage. The slam also deals a certain amount of damage to other individuals within the area of impact. The damage scales with the ability's level and Pasha's maximum Life Value.
...
Luh Yao was left speechless.
Pasha was truly a Dragon with the soul of a brawler. Even the Exclusive ability it created was a close-quarters meat grinder.
'Somehow, I feel like this ability has something to do with the Suppression and beating it took from the Blood Knight.'
'Cancong, resting peacefully in the afterlife, would probably be disappointed.'
Luh Yao, however, saw no problem with it.
Forrest, for example, was summoned by an Apostle Soul Seal and couldn't use any special abilities, yet he could go toe-to-toe with Gods relying on his base stats alone.
'It's just a different branch on the growth tree,' he thought. 'All paths lead to the same end.'
After its awakening, Pasha was filled with confidence.
It spread its wings and strode confidently before the Blood Knight. A smirking emoji appeared over its head. "Mr. Necied, I'd like to have another spar."
A few seconds later, Pasha was beaten down into a pool of its own Blood, a faint Ghost icon hovering over its head.
