I Have a God Simulator

Chapter 170 - 165: Capital of the World, Saniluo

Luh Yao clicked the notification bar, and the view shifted to the Ghost City Saniluo.

The Saniluo City Vault was a diamond-shaped High Castle. It stood with its back to the Divine Hall, and a stone wall encircled them both, giving it the appearance of an armed fortress guarding the Divine Hall.

Mayor Chapman and Commander Alex were in front of the High Castle, surrounded by many Ghost citizens.

Also present were many Extraordinary Creatures: Fish People, Cannibal Crabs, Sand Worms, Ice Giant Monsters, Dwarves, Little Elves, and even several high-level Mad Flame Birds and Blazing Chickens.

They all displayed rare patience and politeness, forming a long queue as Alex and his team maintained order.

A smiley face symbol appeared above Chapman’s head. "Citizens, friends from afar, please remain calm."

"The Saniluo City Vault is opening to the public for the first time today to thank all our friends, to thank everyone for their continued trust and respect for Saniluo."

"We will continue to uphold our stance. While our Faith in Lord Yao God is resolute, we will not involve ourselves in any external disputes."

"Saniluo is a peaceful and comfortable haven. Anyone who wishes to is welcome to purchase a home in this city and enjoy the benefits of citizenship..."

Chapman delivered an impromptu speech. Though the many visitors from different Races didn’t understand the language, some were there to translate.

The translators were mostly Ghost citizens.

More than half the monsters, however, could understand on their own.

That was when Luh Yao realized.

In the time that had passed, these Extraordinary Creatures had dealt with Saniluo many times, which led to the communication and acceptance seen today.

Mayor Chapman announced, "For a long time, the city vault was only used to store this city’s various raw materials and resources. Now, it will be open to everyone. Anyone can store their items within, and with a key, you can withdraw your stored possessions at any time."

"However, a safekeeping fee must be paid for both deposits and withdrawals. This is a crucial part of maintaining the vault."

"The fees will vary depending on the safety deposit box or warehouse space. All prices are clearly marked and fair to all."

"The Saniluo City Vault is now officially open!"

...

Luh Yao understood.

The so-called Saniluo City Vault was, in essence, the city treasury.

Now, it could also be called a bank for monsters.

Luh Yao clicked to enter the vault, observing it from a top-down perspective.

The interior was divided into small rooms, with rows of locked boxes neatly affixed to the walls.

He watched with patience.

The first to arrive was a Cannibal Crab, which deposited a barrel of honey.

The second was a Little Fishman, who stored a small bag of pearls.

The Little Fishman repeatedly stressed that this was its entire fortune, telling the Ghost Librarian to guard it well and keep it safe.

Next, two Dwarves deposited a chest of Sea Shells.

This was the income from the Dwarven blacksmith shop. It was too troublesome to haul it back and forth from the Dwarf Fortress to Saniluo, so they simply stored it in the city vault, where they could withdraw it whenever needed.

A group of Little Elves stored some Honey Wine here, drank until they were completely smashed, and then finally left.

Most of the visitors stored various treasures, though a small number deposited certain souvenirs or things that were inconvenient to carry.

Two Mad Flame Birds left a deep impression on Luh Yao.

They stored two eggs here.

The Ghost Librarian was also a bit baffled. "Um, you two, if these eggs go bad, or if they hatch... that’s going to be difficult for the vault to handle."

A jumble of garbled characters appeared above the Mad Flame Bird’s head.

A translator Ghost nearby explained, "They said it’s fine. If it goes bad, that just means it’s a bad egg. A bad egg just isn’t cut out for it."

"If it manages to hatch, just have it come find us at the northern volcano."

The librarian said, "...Alright. Understood."

Seeing the Mad Flame Bird couple’s hardcore parenting style, Luh Yao had an epiphany.

’No wonder the population of Extraordinary Creatures is so small,’ he thought. ’It’s already a huge challenge for the young to grow up healthy.’

In any case, Saniluo City’s creation of this bank for monsters was truly an unprecedented achievement.

Luh Yao spent 5,000 Faith and converted it directly into a wonder.

In the top-left corner, the number of Apostle Marks instantly changed to 5.

Bathed in white light, the High Castle-like vault now had its own description.

...

[World City Library]: A wonder built by Saniluo City for storing and preserving all sorts of items.

All items stored within the World City Library are resistant to decay.

Reduces the chance of negative city events. Slightly increases attraction for special populations.

...

By choosing the prefix "World," Luh Yao hoped this city vault would endure through the Eras, becoming a wonder recognized by most of the world’s people.

As the wonder was created, the first to react was Mayor Chapman.

"Citizens! Friends!"

He announced loudly, "Lord Yao God has bestowed his blessing and grace! The name of the [World City Library] will be known for all time!"

Smiley faces appeared above the Ghost citizens one by one.

Excited or joyful expressions also appeared above the heads of the Extraordinary Creatures who had ignited the Fire of Faith.

Luh Yao noticed something.

The Extraordinary Creatures were very relaxed in Sanilori.

They didn’t just store treasures in the city vault; they also socialized with their own kind and other races in the city, or even just basked in the sun nearby, as if taking a vacation after being tired from battle.

Just then, a new notification popped up in the simulator.

[The World City Library has attracted numerous Extraordinary Creatures.]

[Saniluo has been granted a title by the Extraordinary Creatures: Capital of the World.]

[Saniluo’s influence has spread throughout the world for the first time.]

[Saniluo has become a Legend city, possessing extremely high prestige and influence.]

[By advancing to the Legend tier, Saniluo has gained additional growth. Please select a buff for the Legend city.]

Luh Yao was taken aback.

’A city can actually be promoted to Legend tier?’

He looked down and saw three options for the Legend buff.

[Reduces the chance of negative city events.]

[Slightly increases city attraction.]

[+1 Damage for all city residents.]

Luh Yao chose to reduce negative events without hesitation.

’After all, Saniluo’s purpose is to be a large retirement city, so stability is the most important thing. Let them fight and cause trouble outside; they come here to rest and recover.’

This all happened so suddenly. Saniluo had come from behind, instantly leaving its two leading sister cities in the dust.

Luh Yao took a look.

Things were relatively calm over in Yao City; stability was that city’s style.

Prophet Yaoshao was constantly researching Magic Potions and had no time or energy to think about other matters. As for Saniluo’s widespread fame, a Scholar from the Divine Hall Council came over specifically to offer congratulations.

The mood in Yan City, however, was not so good.

「In a room in a side hall of the Divine Hall.」

Two old men were drinking to drown their sorrows.

A question mark floated above Mayor Shang Li’s head. "Why... Why did this happen? We were clearly developing faster, we were ahead... Why did this happen..."

A tangled mess of symbols appeared over Prophet Doron Nunu’s head. "That Chapman... every time we met, he acted like this wasn’t working and that wasn’t working... That scheming old ghost."

"We finally managed to get a little ahead of Yao City, only to be met with Saniluo’s rise. Yan City’s luck just isn’t very good."

The two of them couldn’t get over how Saniluo had pulled ahead of them on the home stretch.

Shang Li thought for a moment. "How about we try to develop some overseas territories?"

Doron Nunu added, "I think that could work. Many of the archipelagos are still inhabited by natives, and much of the land is quite fertile. There should be potential."

After being dealt another heavy blow by fate, the two old men stubbornly got back on their feet and began discussing a new direction for Yan City.

Luh Yao wished them better luck next time.
