I Have a God Simulator

Chapter 147 - 142: The Unstoppable Battle

Luh Yao received a long phone call from home.

His mom first asked if he was coming home for the New Year, how his health was, and how work was going. Then, she very naturally transitioned to his personal life.

When are you getting married? Are you dating anyone? Is there anyone you like at work? You don’t like men, do you?

Luh Yao’s scalp tingled from the barrage of questions.

The whole ordeal lasted for over an hour. Every word from his mom seemed to hold a hidden meaning, filled with a sense of pressure comparable to a Main God, forcing him to tread carefully.

By the time the routine nagging from home finally ended, Luh Yao was drenched in a cold sweat.

He returned to his computer.

Just then, a new notification popped up in the simulator.

[Yan City has abolished the slave system.]

[Due to the abolition of the slave system, everyone’s attack has been slightly reduced, and their defense has been slightly increased.]

In the time it took to finish a phone call, a coup had actually taken place in Yan City.

The Slave Traders were executed or exiled, and all the slaves in the city were unconditionally freed. The Slave Traders’ houses and remaining property also became public property of Yan City.

A galley sailed from the northern sea into the harbor, which was still under repair.

The white-haired old man, leaning on a cane, Old Shangli, returned to his former city.

The citizens were all stunned, with question marks popping up above their heads.

"Is that... the old mayor?"

"Didn’t the old mayor die?"

"You must have been blessed by a God."

"No, that’s not right! It was a conspiracy by the Slave Traders! They tried to kill the old mayor..."

Blind in his left eye and supported by a young boy, Old Shangli arrived in front of the library. He said to everyone, "Citizens, please listen to me."

The little people fell silent.

"Twenty years ago, my ship was scuttled by Shang Ji and his cohorts, and I nearly lost my life at sea. But under the protection of Yao God, I have survived to this day."

"Yan City encourages commercial Trade, but it will never permit the slave trade!"

"Now, we will correct this cruel mistake."

...

Next, Shang Li first visited Prophet Doron Nunu in the Divine Hall and received his support. Then, he quickly issued a series of decrees.

First, the slave trade was declared illegal. Any human trafficking or slave trading would not be recognized by Yan City and would be met with severe punishment and exile.

The Northern Divine Hall Army was officially renamed the [City Guard Army], retaining one hundred of its soldiers with Tonghai as the Commander. They became Yan City’s first professional soldiers, receiving regular salaries with the duty of guarding and patrolling Yan City.

The City Guard Army and Commander Salt Geller’s Corruptor Corps were two separate systems. The former dealt with matters concerning ordinary people, while the latter focused on the Extraordinary Group.

The Citizen Council and the tax system were retained.

The council would elect representatives from various professions, including farmers, artisans, Scholars, merchants, sailors, and herdsmen.

The tax system was also made fairer. It no longer directly favored merchants; instead, an additional tax was levied on commercial Trade...

These policies were all engraved on a stone monument in the center of the square. Two Scholars were stationed beside it to explain them, ensuring that those who couldn’t read would also understand.

Luh Yao didn’t look too closely. He had a new subject of interest.

—Great God, one of your Believers has performed a feat far surpassing his peers. Would you like to transform him into a Hero?

The pixel person eligible to become a Hero was named Tonghai, age 37.

Luh Yao clicked yes.

In the character portrait, Tonghai was a burly man carrying a hammer. He wore Copper Armor, had a square face with a broad nose, and a thick beard around his mouth. The image depicted him standing on the deck of a ship, gazing into the distance.

Beneath the portrait was a single line of text.

—I am not a Hero, I am just a husband with a hammer.

...

[Hero Lv7] Tonghai

Attack 7, Defense 7, Knowledge 0, Mana 0, Luck 1, Morale 2

[Abilities]

Warrior Lv1: Possesses a natural talent for combat, allowing for rapid growth.

Evasion LV2: Can evade some damage from attacks. This probability is higher against weaker life forms.

[History]

At age 19, his wife Mahaya was sold. He killed the Slave Trader and joined the Northern Divine Hall Army.

At age 37, he led the Northern Divine Hall Army to conquer Yan City, ending the city’s slave system.

...

Sensing the God’s Blessing, an exclamation mark lit up above Copper Hammer’s head, and he immediately knelt on the ground. "Thank you for your Blessing, omnipotent Lord Yao God."

"Great God, your devout Believer implores you, can you guide me to find my Mahaya?"

Luh Yao tried clicking with his mouse. When he clicked on Mahaya’s name in Tonghai’s [History] tab, there was actually a reaction.

The perspective suddenly switched to a forest outside Yan City.

In the center of the screen was a pile of scattered bones.

Mahaya was already dead.

Furthermore, her soul wasn’t directed to the Ghost City Saniluo, which meant that when Mahaya died, Scott and the others in charge of guiding souls hadn’t found her. As a result, she had completely sunk into the Sea of Mourning.

Luh Yao guided the Hero, Tonghai, to this place.

The little Hero was silent for a moment before picking up the skull from the ground.

"Mahaya, my dear Mahaya... So you’ve already gone to another world."

"I will come find you, but not right now. Please wait for me."

Tonghai knelt on the ground and prayed to the sky, "No words can express my gratitude and reverence. Thank you for your mercy, great God."

He buried the white bones in the earth.

Next, Tonghai went to find Old Shangli.

"Mayor, I cannot serve as the Commander of the City Guard Army."

"The God gave me a revelation. Mahaya is dead."

"But the Slave Traders have not been completely eliminated. They are hiding Overseas, still threatening the freedom of many people. I must continue to hunt down these pests and free all the slaves in this world."

Old Shangli didn’t try to persuade him, instead offering his blessing. "Go, Tonghai. Go. You are a Hero destined to be remembered in History. I sincerely wish you smooth sailing."

The hammer-wielding Hero boarded a galley and set off for his next battle.

...

Luh Yao shifted his perspective back to Yan City and entered the Divine Hall.

After the Era Update, he still hadn’t seen the White God and didn’t know what the status of this Subordinate God was.

Inside Yan City’s Divine Hall, the White God was currently rooting around in a pile of Sacrificial Offerings.

Luh Yao’s expression darkened.

Good thing the pixel people can’t gaze upon a God. Otherwise, seeing a White Wild Boar swimming around in all sorts of food and treasures, eating and drinking wantonly, would probably shatter their Faith.

Sensing the True God’s gaze, the White God stiffened and shot to its feet.

"Lord True God! Your faithful Subordinate God awaits your command at any time."

’Since you’re so eager to volunteer, it would be rude of me not to give you something to do.’

Luh Yao glanced at the White God’s stats.

Population: 2,942, Faith: 2,922

This was what you’d call a true freeloader. Absolutely coasting to victory.

The White God didn’t have to put in any effort at all; it earned Faith just by lying around. As long as the population base of Believers controlled by Luh Yao grew, this Subordinate God could ride his coattails. There would always be some Believers willing to worship it as well, hoping to receive the Blessing of this God of Treasure.

Luh Yao gave the order.

—Go to the Southern New Continent, and cultivate Believers.

The White God shuddered.

However, it didn’t dare to disobey and immediately declared, "Yes! Your subordinate will head to the south to cultivate Believers at once!"

It left the Divine Hall, transformed into a white shadow, and plunged into the sea to the west, swimming nonstop toward the south.

The advantage of this local God having a physical body was that it was easy to command. It was essentially a mobile Divine Statue.

After the Era change, a New Continent had emerged in both the north and the south of the sea.

Luh Yao pondered.

’According to the simulator’s notifications, Elves and the Symbiotic Forest have appeared. The forests of the Western Continent haven’t changed at all, the Eastern Continent is still grassland, and the north is still an ice plain. That means the Elves are most likely on the Southern New Continent.’

Luh Yao opened his Artifact Bar.

Next came one of his favorite parts.

Artifact testing!

The [Fire Box] and the [Dwarf Fortress]. One at a time.

He cracked his knuckles and first clicked on the wonder, [Aegir’s Fire].

The meteorite stock was still 1/5.

Thirty years had passed in the Pixel World, and it hadn’t managed to replenish even a single shot.

Luh Yao tossed the [Fire Box] into [Aegir’s Fire] and clicked the "open" option on the box.

The Black Mountain Range suddenly erupted like a volcano!

Flames shot toward the Skyline, and thick smoke choked the air. The surrounding forests and grasslands visibly withered and shriveled, while the Forest Elemental Creatures and animals fled in terror.

Luh Yao made it rain twice in the surrounding area to prevent a forest fire.

Just then, the flames inside the volcano surged, and from within emerged a ferocious, crimson Dragon’s head. It roared at the sky, spewing a pillar of fire! Half the sky was instantly dyed a searing red.

Luh Yao noticed that Aegir’s Fire had become LV2.
