Chapter 124 - 119: Something’s Off About the Tyrant

Yan Jiu left the Divine Hall and continued on his path of ascetic training.

Luh Yao, however, didn’t have much time to spare for this strange Believer.

Because next, he was about to launch a major project.

The third expedition into the [Black Abyss].

This attempt would be on a scale far greater than before, with the target being the big boss of the first floor: the Tyrant.

Facing an enemy hailed as a Demigod, Luh Yao didn’t dare to be careless. He mobilized all the high-end Combat Power under his command.

The Blood Knight and the Deep Sea Lord, the two bros, were still the main frontal assault force.

Philos would also join the battle, controlling the [Skeleton King Armor].

The Snowman would accompany them.

This time, Isabel would also participate directly in the battle.

After obtaining the [Natural Magic Staff], her Life Value had undergone a qualitative change. A health bar of over 8,000 was enough to handle the dangers within.

Isabel’s [Forest Sword] was also a crucial buff for the entire dungeon party, making her indispensable.

Having gained the ability of Flying, she had become much more mobile, which would help in scouting out the map of the Abyss.

Finally, there was the White God, his Subordinate God.

Although its Combat Power was mediocre, it could provide some buffs. The Miracle, [Deterrence], was a combat Miracle in itself.

Only with such a stacked lineup did Luh Yao have the confidence to face a Demigod.

Everyone entered the golden gate.

The emblem for the [First Floor of the Black Abyss] appeared on the screen.

Luh Yao was no longer a stranger to this place.

The entire Abyssal World was cast in a grim, cold color palette, completely different from the outside. The Ghouls on the periphery scattered in terror the moment they saw the Blood Knight.

Luh Yao showed no mercy this time, ordering the dungeon party to thoroughly clear out the surrounding monsters. This was to avoid being harassed from behind during a retreat and ending up in an unfavorable situation.

The six-person team cleared a path, annihilating all the Ghouls and Corpse Hunters along the way. The entire process was of moderate difficulty, serving as a warm-up before the great battle.

Soon, the group arrived at the Birdcage Icefield region, the same place where the Snowman had once been imprisoned.

Further ahead lay the Tyrant’s domain, the Mirror Country.

To Luh Yao’s surprise, the so-called Mirror Country was not a vast territory.

Ahead was only a circular square crafted from white marble. On the square stood a row of broken stone pillars, looking like the ruins of an ancient Temple.

Shards of mirrors were embedded in the ground of the square, most of them also broken and incomplete.

In the center of the Temple ruins sat a marble throne covered in cracks.

The cracks in the throne were filled with blood, and the dried scabs barely held it together, keeping it from falling to pieces.

The Blood Knight was the first to step into the square.

As soon as he arrived, every mirror on the ground began to emit a faint white glow.

One by one, soldiers emerged from the mirrors.

These soldiers wore square silver masks and shimmering armor, silver from head to toe. They uniformly wielded square shields and short spears, swiftly forming ranks and marching toward the intruders.

Luh Yao clicked on one of the soldiers.

...

[Mirror Country Close Guard LV40]

Life Value: 1400/1400

Mana Value: 300/300

Damage: 40

Defense: 35

Speed: 13

[Indestructible]

Has special resistance to ranged damage.

[Gregarious]

Gains greater combat effectiveness when gathered together. The larger the number, the greater the boost.

[Spirit Body]

Has special resistance to normal damage. Takes double damage from Magic.

...

A phalanx of Close Guards that filled half the screen charged toward the six-person dungeon party.

However, due to their low damage stats, even with the buff from [Gregarious], they couldn’t break through the front line of the three vanguards—the Blood Knight, the Deep Sea Lord, and the Skeleton King Armor—whose Defense stats were all over 100.

The two sides became locked in a meat-grinder battle.

Isabel applied [Forest Sword] to each combatant one by one. She also used her Flying ability to kite some of the Close Guards on the periphery.

The Deep Sea Lord transformed into the Furious Pai Daxing. Its giant starfish limbs thrashed wildly, knocking down the Close Guards and preventing any enemies from passing by it.

Philos’s job was the simplest. It kept the Skeleton King Armor in its ball form, moving left and right to ram enemies and draw aggro. All it had to do was take hits behind the King Armor’s solid defense.

The coolest guy on the block was still the cold, tough Blood Knight.

On the battlefield, Necied the Blood Knight was like a firefly in the night—impossibly distinct.

His ferocious, all-offense posture as he swung his greatsword; his wild, tough-as-nails style of fighting ten men at once; and the happy smiley face that popped up over his head all made it hard to look away.

The Blood Knight was just that pure and simple of an Apostle. Let him fight, and he was happy.

His destructive power was on a completely different level from the others.

Necied activated [Enchantment], which not only further boosted his damage but also added Magic damage to his attacks.

This was the perfect counter to [Spirit Body].

He could cut down a Close Guard in just a few swings.

Even with the strength to be One Against One Hundred, the Blood Knight’s footing remained steady, and he maintained formation with the other Apostles.

Luh Yao felt very relieved.

On the battlefield, the Blood Knight was a perfect warrior.

He executed orders, never retreated, and possessed an innate sense for the battlefield.

Soon, the hundreds of Mirror Country Close Guards were slaughtered, their bodies shattering. They turned into broken mirror fragments that dissipated after falling to the ground.

Luh Yao frowned slightly as he watched.

’Are the Close Guards magically summoned creatures?’

Just then, the entire Marble Square suddenly began to tremble, causing the screen to shake along with it.

A notification popped up in the simulator.

[The Tyrant has awoken from its slumber.]

On the Blood Throne in the center of the Temple ruins, a figure slowly materialized, resting its chin on one hand.

As the figure appeared, the tremors throughout the first floor slowly subsided.

Luh Yao was taken aback for a moment after getting a clear look at the figure.

The Tyrant was not what he had expected.

This big boss of the first floor bore the name [Tyrant]. Her head was a single, round piece of white bone, from which grew two antlers shaped like a stag beetle’s mandibles. Two eye sockets were carved into the bone’s surface, revealing a pair of crimson eyes within.

The Tyrant wore a fluffy fur ruff around her neck and was draped in a tattered red robe. Her slender body was completely wrapped in bandages, making her look like a resurrected Mummy Queen.

’It’s actually a female character.’

Her weapon was a Conical Sword, also made of white bone, which she propped up with one hand, its tip plunged into the ground.

Facing the intruders, a dialogue box appeared above the Tyrant’s head.

"Outlanders, how did you get in?"

She was remarkably calm, even initiating a conversation.

"Answer me, what has the outside world become? That bitch, the Forest Witch—no, I suppose I should call her the Forest Goddess now—has she fallen?"

Luh Yao could sense the animosity.

"Hmm?"

The Tyrant slowly turned her head, looking toward the floating Isabel.

"So you were here all along? The scent on you is wrong..."

As if she’d realized something, a laughing expression appeared above her head.

"So you died. Good. That’s just great."

"Hahahaha!"

"Now you’ve left behind a body. Are you trying to find a way to resurrect? You’re dreaming a sweet dream, aren’t you."

"Today, let me put a complete end to your fantasy, Isabelle Ceroli... my... good... SISTER!"

The Tyrant transformed into a white shadow and shot straight toward Isabel.
