Chapter 111 - 106: Good Luck
"When you read this, you’ll probably be very surprised. ’Oh, so that’s the kind of person I am?’ You must be wondering something like that, right?"
"That’s right, that’s the kind of person I am. Or rather, the kind of person you once were."
"In the eyes of most people, the Witch Isabelle Ceroli is a witch in white who lives in the forest. She is quiet and beautiful, possesses Wisdom and gentleness, and whoever sees her will be blessed with good luck."
"Where there is light, there is darkness. Where the Forest Witch resides, there is also another: the Black-Clothed Witch."
"As the Forest Witch’s arch-nemesis, the blindfolded Black-Clothed Witch is synonymous with ugliness, viciousness, and Fear. Every time she appears, she turns people into animals, and anyone targeted by the Witch will live their life in Fear."
"Of course, the Black-Clothed Witch is me, too."
"That’s right. I am the beautiful Forest Witch, and I am also the ugly Black-Clothed Witch. They are both me, Isabelle Ceroli."
"If there were no ugliness to serve as a foil, what would beauty be?"
"It is precisely because Fear and unease exist that peace and tranquility are priceless treasures."
"With the existence of a villain like the Black-Clothed Witch, the Forest Witch can be loved and cherished by everyone. Even the Gods in the heavens are like this; I am merely a crude imitator of the Gods."
Here, the journal entry ended.
Luh Yao finally confirmed it. The Forest Witch, who later became the Forest God, was actually a native of this world. Not an outside God, like a player.
He tapped on the next page.
"I lived in a country called the Rose Kingdom. It had vast lands, and the edge of the world was a boundless ocean. Even the bravest sailors could not reach the other side of the sea."
"Giant Sea Monsters lived in the sea, along with all sorts of strange life. I once had a brief conversation with a Wise Man from the seabed. He claimed to be from an ancient race called the ’Undersea Walkers.’ They believe in the Undersea Divine Towers they built themselves. They’re an interesting bunch."
"The people who lived on land, us, believed in the God [Dike Builder]."
"He was silent and diligent, a native God of this world. Legend has it that the entire land was built bit by bit by the [Dike Builder], reclaiming it from the ocean. He gave all terrestrial life the foundation for its existence."
"The [Dike Builder] neither interfered with the Kingdom nor sent down calamities. He was like a taciturn and powerful father, always quietly looking down from the sky, endlessly building the land."
"Everyone respected this great and reserved God."
"Later, the [Dark God] invaded this world and a Divine War broke out with the [Dike Builder]. Soon after, the [Dike Builder] fell. Most of the land sank beneath the sea, and all the light in the world was taken away by the [Dark God]."
"The world fell into darkness. Only by offering our Faith could we regain light and fire."
"Those were difficult times."
"Dark Creatures lurked covetously in the darkness. They were allowed to act as they pleased. Only those who offered their Faith could receive a God’s protection and have the right to light a fire."
"There were no longer kings and commoners, slaves and merchants, Nobles and farmers... Everyone lived in fear and anxiety in a Long Night that never ended."
"Until one day, the Fire of Faith in the Dark Divine Hall suddenly flew out and returned to every person. That brave fire-stealer was quickly captured. What an enigmatic person."
Reading this, Luh Yao couldn’t help but laugh.
He never expected the Witch and the Snowman to have had some kind of intersection.
"I found the [Dike Builder]’s underground Altar and Divine Hall ruins. Inside, I passed the trials left by the Titled Deity, the [Dike Builder], and inherited the Divine Format."
"When you awaken, there should be a Divine Hall around you. That is the precious legacy I left behind, prepared for your future. I went to great pains to ensure you could come here, you know."
"The so-called Divine Format is the qualification to be a God. Without a Divine Format, no matter how powerful a Hero or Apostle is, they can never take that final step into the Divine Domain."
"I had no time to celebrate obtaining the Divine Format before I was dragged into the Abyss by the Dark God."
"Only after entering the Abyss did I learn that it wasn’t just me; He had captured all the Extraordinary Beings. We were forcibly conscripted as the God’s soldiers."
"The lowest level of the Abyss, the ninth layer, is connected to a mysterious area."
"We call it [The Tenth Layer]."
"The [Tenth Layer] is a special boundary, perpetually shrouded in a dense fog."
"According to the Gods trapped there, even a bug from the [Tenth Layer] can easily devour one of the Gods..."
"There are also some weaker monsters from the Tenth Layer that occasionally invade the ninth layer. They instinctively hunt and feed on the other living things in the Abyss. That layer is basically all Gods, and when They kill the monsters, They also get some spoils of war, including large amounts of Fire of Faith and some rare treasures..."
"Once trapped in the Abyss, there is no escape. Entering the Tenth Layer is a dead end. Only by waiting to be conscripted by the Dark God is it possible to gain a moment of freedom."
"In short, if you enter the Abyss, never, ever go near the [Tenth Layer]."
...
Luh Yao took a sip of hot tea and sorted through his thoughts.
’So the [Black Abyss] has ten layers in total.’
’The Tenth Layer is basically nightmare difficulty, where even the Gods are the ones being hunted.’
’The Divine Hall really isn’t standard issue for ordinary players. The Forest God prepared it specially for Isabel.’
’Of course, now it’s mine.’
He tapped on the final page of the diary.
...
"Hello, my body. Having come to this little cabin, you should be able to feel a sense of familiarity, a connection, right?"
"Because you were once a part of me."
"A God is composed of a Divine Format, Divinity, and a Divine Body."
"The Divine Format is the qualification to be a God. It is also the foundation for igniting the Fire of Faith."
"Divinity is the Fire of Faith. The amount of Faith determines the strength of the Divinity, representing how much change and how many Miracles one can bring to the world."
"The Divine Body is the body of a God."
"Population is the vessel; Faith is the power. Vessels can be strong or weak, but they are indispensable."
"I knew I had no way out, so I separated you from myself in advance, preserving the basic integrity of the Divine Body to the greatest extent possible."
"However, to reduce any trouble, I erased the Forest Witch parts from your body. This way, you can walk around as an Old God’s Apostle."
"Reading this far, you’ve probably figured it out, haven’t you? After all, I am so clever."
"That’s right, I dismembered myself into three parts: Divine Format, Divinity, and Divine Body. I am using myself as the material for a grand experiment that has never succeeded before."
"When a God falls, their Divine Format, Divinity, and Divine Body will separate from one another. So, what if, before I fall, I completely dismantle myself and proactively save each part separately? Might there be a day when they can be reassembled to restore a complete God?"
"I hid the Divine Format at the bottom of the sea. I stored the Divinity in the [Golden Field]. And you, the Divine Body, I buried deep in the forest. A certain distance must be maintained, otherwise you will be drawn to each other too soon."
"The Divine Will and memories cannot be preserved, so I left this diary to let you know what kind of experiences the past me, and you, have been through."
"I ascended from this world to a High Realm Dimension. In that higher World Dimension, I saw many incredible sights..."
"I also benefited greatly in that vast Water World. But I still prefer it here, I still prefer this forest. That’s why I’ve based my entire plan here."
"I know the chances of this working are slim. But let me make a bold attempt for now."
"If it doesn’t succeed, then don’t worry about it."
"Failure is a constant throughout life, isn’t it?"
"Finally, I wish you good luck, and I wish myself good luck as well."
...
After finishing the last intact diary entry, Luh Yao felt a mix of complicated emotions.
’As a neutral bystander, I’d really like to see if this method of disassembly and reassembly can resurrect a Main God.’
’But as a stakeholder, I’m afraid not.’
’A failed Forest God is a good Old God.’
’The old era is over.’
’It’s time for us newcomers to take the stage.’
