It isn’t easy to lock onto a high-speed Apostle with a Miracle.

Fortunately, Catalo wasn’t built for speed. Burdened by the Divine Statue, and with the Tao God trying to buy time through negotiations, it was caught completely off guard. Catalo was instantly struck by the vast majority of the lightning bolts.

The overwhelming area-of-effect damage instantly depleted its health bar, and its ochre body violently shattered.

The [DEATH] icon appeared above its corpse.

Having lost its carrier, the Divine Statue came to a standstill.

Without an Apostle to act as a medium, the Tao God could no longer project its voice, and the Divine Statue immediately reverted to an inanimate object.

Luh Yao now had plenty of time to deal with the Divine Statue.

He switched tactics, methodically wearing down the Divine Statue with alternating bolts of lightning and casts of Scorching Sun.

’The enemy is weak and I’m strong. A war of attrition is the safest approach.’

Meanwhile, the Snowman was also on the move.

While the Divine Statue was resisting the Miracles, Jimmy seized the opportunity to start stealing from it.

And so, Luh Yao glanced at the top-right corner of his view and saw a series of additions to his Faith bar.

Luh Yao was more nervous than Jimmy himself.

He was terrified that one slip-up would get the Snowman slaughtered by the Tao God.

The Tao God tried to predict its position with lightning and Hurricanes several times, but the Snowman easily dodged them all.

Equipped with the [Ghost White Horse] and [Traveler’s Boots], and buffed with the [Forest Sword] status that Isabel had applied beforehand, Jimmy’s movement speed had reached a terrifying 47 points.

The speeding Snowman became a streak of white lightning that came and went without a trace, making it impossible for Miracles to lock on. While kiting the Divine Statue, the Snowman looked completely at ease, moving with skillful confidence.

Luh Yao gradually relaxed.

He had a further realization about the limitations of Apprentice Deities. ’No matter how strong your Faith firepower is, it’s useless if you can’t hit the enemy.’

’In a skirmish, Apostles and Heroes are especially important.’

’Otherwise, you end up in the Tao God’s current predicament.’

After its Mana recovered, the Snowman made one last steal, this time grabbing some kind of paper-like Artifact.

’Why would any God refuse a Subordinate God offering their Faith?’

’It’s a purely beneficial arrangement, with no downsides whatsoever.’

Even in a Fragment World, as long as one party offered their Fire of Faith, their Divine Statues could merge to create a Divine Palace, thereby establishing a subordinate relationship between the Gods. Ordinary Apprentice Deities wouldn’t know this; it was a secret one only learned after entering the Divine Hall of the Gods.

Under the Rule Power, a Subordinate God could not defy their ruling True God.

Just as when the [Whistleblower] gave an order, the Tao God had to obey, even if it was a self-destructive Demotion.

This was the brutal reality of the divine hierarchy.

Submitting to a powerful God meant gaining the protection of the strong, but also accepting their rule.

One of the standards for judging the strength among the Gods was how many Subordinate Gods they had in their Divine Palace.

Subordinate Gods constantly generated a stream of Fire of Faith, and the True God could call upon this Faith whenever they needed it.

The Tao God could not understand.

The Combat Power of the God who attacked it already exceeded that of ordinary Gods.

The moment the opponent’s three Apostles appeared, the Tao God immediately realized it was outmatched.

First was the Blood Knight, a High-Tier Hero personally created by the [Whistleblower]. Even though he was sealed to some extent in the Fragment World, he was still one of the top combatants in the Broken World.

The Blood Knight, who only knew how to follow orders, had been forcefully subjugated and turned into the opponent’s Apostle.

The God the Blood Knight now served possessed a power even more terrifying and overwhelming than his former master’s. It was a power so immense that even the stoic, mechanical Blood Knight had submitted out of instinctual Fear. It seemed utterly incredible, but it was the only explanation.

The second was the Snowman.

The Tao God had never even heard of such a bizarre and grotesque Apostle.

’An Apostle that can directly steal a God’s Fire of Faith?’

This shattered the Tao God’s entire understanding of the world.

In the Tao God’s eyes, the Snowman’s threat level was far higher than the Blood Knight’s.

’That thing is weird. Too weird. It shouldn’t even exist in this world.’

The third was the [Skeleton King Armor]. This thing was vaguely familiar, and it countered the Tao God’s escape methods, leaving the deity feeling cornered.

Besides these, there was a fourth Apostle.

The Tao God was absolutely certain of it.

That Apostle had to be lurking in the shadows, ready to deliver a fatal blow at any moment. The [Forest Sword] above the Snowman’s head could only have come from that Concealer.

As the Tao God analyzed the situation, despair began to set in.

Four High-Class Apostles had it surrounded and locked down; the enemy wasn’t giving it a single opening.

What infuriated the Tao God even more was that the enemy God showed no intention of dialogue or offering terms of surrender.

’Such arrogance and hubris!’

Even when the [Whistleblower] had defeated it, he had been polite and gracious in his persuasion. Only then had it been willing to join his Divine Palace and become a Subordinate God.

The once timid and cautious Tao God, in its extreme frustration and suppression, erupted with an astonishing burst of courage and fighting spirit.

In that instant, the Tao God felt as if it had gone back in time, many years ago.

Back then, It had been a fearless and valiant God. After taking its place in the Divine Hall of the Gods, it had always overcome every obstacle, forging ahead bravely and never refusing a challenge from an equal.

It hadn’t been strong back then, but it possessed a pride and mettle that knew no fear of failure.

’When did I lose that sharp, enterprising will?’

’Was it the moment I was defeated by the Whistleblower?’

’Or after I entered the Divine Palace and realized everyone was stronger than me?’

’Or had my years of suppressed Fear and self-doubt simply found their final, overwhelming expression in the Divine Palace?’

The Tao God did not know.

The only thing it knew was this.

Faced with that arrogant and powerful God, under a tidal wave of pressure and despair, it had come alive again.

Even if only for a moment.

The Tao God felt itself shed all apprehension and restraint, feeling an unprecedented sense of freedom and exhilaration.

’You can destroy me. You can force me to submit.’

’But you cannot take away my pride as one of the Gods!’

This was no longer about the [Whistleblower]’s command, but a battle for its own dignity.

It sacrificed all its Faith Artifacts, ignited its remaining Fire of Faith, and the Divine Statue erupted with a blinding radiance.

The Fire of Faith forged its final Miracle, its last mark on the world!

[EXPLOSION]!

A dazzling white light bloomed, enveloping everything around it.

The Divine Statue’s sudden self-destruction startled Luh Yao.

Fortunately, the explosion only affected a very small area. The immense Power of Faith incinerated the entire Divine Statue. The intense heat fused the surroundings into red-and-black slag, and billowing white smoke filled the air.

A notification popped up on the screen.

[The Tao God’s Faith has completely vanished from the vicinity. Its Believers will begin to search for a new God.]

Luh Yao was a little stunned, not quite understanding what had happened.

But the Tao God had, indeed, been eliminated.

With that, both of the invading foreign Gods had been wiped out.

"Lord God, these are Jimmy’s spoils."

The Snowman presented its loot, which looked like two stickers stuck together.

Luh Yao quickly tried it out.

All three cities had Divine Halls, so Apostles could arrive in an instant. There was only one place that was more tricky, and that was the island where the [Black Abyss] was located.

It took the Apostles a considerable amount of time to get there.

Luh Yao tried placing the Teleportation Gate, but found the range was just a little too short.

One gate was fixed on the Black Abyss island, but the other couldn’t be opened directly on the Western Continent. It could only be placed on a small island east of Yao City.

But even so, this greatly shortened the Apostles’ commute time.

Luh Yao tested it.

At the Blood Knight’s walking speed, he could go from the Salt Pool to Yao City via teleportation, then cross to the island and enter the Abyss—the entire process took only about a minute.

This speed was acceptable.

Once the Teleportation Gate was established, Yao City, Yan City, Saniluo, and the Abyss were all connected by an invisible high-speed channel. It completely solved the Apostles’ "last mile" problem.

Luh Yao stretched.

A busy night’s work had come to a successful conclusion.

The sky outside was already bright, and the sounds of car horns drifted up from the street below.

"Xiaohuo, make me some noodles. I want two cloves of garlic and a fried egg with a runny yolk."
