I Have a God Simulator

In the Divine Hall, the Second Prophet, Hemira, was the quickest to react.

"Soybeans! The God has bestowed a Blessing!"

An exclamation point popped up over her head. "The God has given us new guidance."

"Praise be to you, great and wise Yao God."

She knelt before the Divine Statue, as devout as ever.

Outside the Divine Hall, the pixel people reacted in various ways.

"Soybeans, soybeans... Soybeans are for eating."

"Plant soybeans. This world needs soybeans."

"The God loves soybeans! They must be delicious, just like wheat and potatoes."

"Round, plump soybeans. Soybeans like jewels. Mysterious soybeans."

The Garlic Tribe had received Blessings many times before, so they were very accepting of all divinely gifted things. They immediately planted the soybeans in the soil.

Soon, lush green soybean sprouts emerged from the farmland. After some time, these soybean plants grew tall and full.

Time in the Pixel World passed quickly, and the Farmers began to harvest the soybeans in batches.

Just as Luh Yao had predicted, the pixel people first used the soybeans as a direct food source.

Spring passed and autumn came. As the soybean fields multiplied, the Garlic Tribe’s soybean harvest became abundant. The pixel people dried large quantities of soybeans and stored them in granaries alongside the wheat, to be used in times of need.

At that moment, Luh Yao also started eating some braised edamame, sharing in the joy with his people.

He had chosen soybeans primarily to improve the physical constitution of the pixel people.

There might not be a physical constitution Attribute in the Pixel World, but the Low Realm Dimensional World was still a Complete World. The simulator merely simplified it into a pixelated interface; it didn’t mean the world itself was that rudimentary.

The fact that Isabel and the Blood Knights only revealed their complete, true forms upon entering the real world was proof of this.

That was why Luh Yao had used the real world as a template and chosen soybeans.

’Get them enough meat, eggs, and milk, and make the tribespeople strong!’

Currently, the Garlic Tribe’s sources of meat were sheep, Strutting Birds, domestic pigs, and fish. It seemed like a decent variety, but the actual meat production was very low, far from enough to meet the per capita demand.

The pixel people were still in a tribal stage, and their Livestock industry was relatively underdeveloped. Whether it was sheep, pigs, or Strutting Birds, they were mostly free-range, which resulted in long breeding cycles. The fishing haul was also quite limited due to the number of people and boats.

There were some reserves of meat, but prices remained stubbornly high.

Luh Yao noticed many pixel people haggling with merchants at street stalls, mainly over the price of meat.

For most of the tribe’s pixel people, meat was still an expensive luxury. At best, many could only afford salt-cured fish; they couldn’t afford fresh meat at all and relied mainly on wheat and potatoes for food.

This scene made Luh Yao’s heart ache.

’Even if I can’t afford meat myself, I’ll make sure you all can!’

’So, how can I make that happen?’

From a macro perspective, he needed to improve the entire Livestock industry, increase the number of farmed animals, further reduce rearing costs, and speed up the rate at which they were ready for market.

In reality, this was a rather complex field of study.

Luh Yao decided on one entry point: feed.

Soybeans were not only high-quality pig feed, but also edible for humans. Moreover, soybeans themselves contain a large amount of oil and protein, which could be pressed for oil and used for a series of subsequent developments.

But theory was one thing; what direction the pixel people would actually take the development of soybeans was another matter entirely.

It was just like with grapes. Luh Yao had originally hoped they would make wine. Instead, the pixel people turned around and created barley wine, turning grapes into a high-end Holy Fruit.

Luh Yao continued to watch the tribe.

After three winters had passed, a 60-year-old Farmer named Nong Liang discovered the secret of soybeans.

"The Strutting Birds often sneak into the soybean fields to eat, which means they must like soybeans. Since there are extra soybeans in the granary, why not feed the birds with them?"

At first, Nong Liang did this secretly, feeding fresh soybeans to the two young Strutting Bird chicks he had bought.

The Strutting Birds he raised were a whole size larger than others of their kind. The two birds were not only tall and sturdy, but also had dense feathers. When they strutted, they exuded a domineering air, much like the Red Hare among horses.

More importantly, after he slaughtered them, he obtained [High-Quality Meat].

Nong Liang was ecstatic. He ran all the way to the Divine Hall and selflessly reported this major discovery to the leader, Senji.

"Leader, soybeans can make the Strutting Birds very strong, and produce more and better meat!"

"It might also work for feeding sheep, pigs, and fish!"

Wizard Senji took this matter very seriously. After confirming that Nong Liang’s claim was entirely true, he immediately consulted with Hemira and Yulian, and also questioned other Farmers and herders.

Soon after, they began to call on the entire tribe to use soybeans to feed their livestock in order to produce more meat.

At this point, a prompt appeared on the screen.

The feed policy brought about immediate changes. Driven by soybeans, the growth and breeding rates of pigs, sheep, Strutting Birds, and even horses increased significantly.

Soon, these changes radiated out to the marketplace. The price of meat dropped to a certain extent, allowing more cash-strapped pixel people to afford it.

To Luh Yao’s slight regret, Nong Liang passed away soon after promoting the use of soybean feed. He didn’t even live long enough to receive the potential conversion to a Hero.

But the tribe’s pixel people remembered him.

The old Farmer’s name was carved onto the Monument. Although it was only a short line of text, it became a part of the tribe’s History, remembered by later generations.

"Nong Liang: He was the first person to feed Strutting Birds with soybeans. He let everyone know that soybeans are a valuable feed. He made it possible for everyone to eat more meat."

The Garlic Tribe began to frantically plant soybeans to obtain more meat.

Before long, the scale of the soybean fields rivaled that of the wheat fields, stretching all the way to the forest and the river. The soybeans attracted many animals, which in turn triggered another series of changes.

Soybeans indirectly led to the taming of wild buffalo and finally made aquaculture a reality.

Black and yellow cattle ambled leisurely on the grass, as Farmers pushed wheelbarrows full of soybean plants, leaves and all, up to them. Then, these large livestock would bury their heads in the food and chow down, flicking their tails in delight.

Along the docks of the East River, fish farms enclosed by stones and nets began to appear. Fishermen would toss feed made from soybeans into them, and the fish in the water would dart out to snatch it up.

Seeing this, Luh Yao couldn’t help but feel a little emotional.

A long time ago, some pixel people in the tribe had the idea of farming fish.

One was named Nong Yu, and the other was Yuhuan.

Back then, those two had envisioned creating an aquatic field, farming fish just like planting wheat—sowing in the spring and harvesting in the autumn. But they never succeeded before they passed away.

Many years had passed in a flash.

Now, their successors had finally fulfilled that wild notion, turning their ancestors’ dream into a reality.

Soybeans became the catalyst, causing the Garlic Tribe’s long-stagnant agriculture to begin developing vigorously.

Not long after, the thing Luh Yao had been longing for finally appeared.

’I’ve finally gotten the tribe’s pixel people on the full meat, eggs, and milk meal plan. I guess that makes me a competent God, after all.’
