Chapter 267: The Nebula archives
The Nebular Archives of the First Dawn
The celestial-jade citadel breached the Progenitor Gate, emerging not into the expected violent storm of cosmic void, but into a realm of breathtaking, terrifying beauty.
High above them, an endless sea of silver nebulae spun in perfect, majestic spirals, casting a gentle, ethereal illumination across the expanse. Floating throughout this infinite starlit sea were thousands of massive, crystalline obelisks—each the size of an entire continent, inscribed with glowing golden glyphs that flickered like living thoughts.
"We have entered the Nebular Archives of the First Dawn," Elena reported from the central console, her golden eyes scanning data streams that flooded her slate at astronomical speeds. "This is no ordinary domain. It is the primary repository of the Progenitor Council—a vast cosmic library containing the blueprint, history, and metaphysical origin of every universe ever created."
"A library, huh?" Vetra snorted, resting her dark-iron broadsword across her shoulder while her crimson dragon-eyes surveyed the floating obelisks. "Looks like a lot of dusty old glass to me."
"It’s far more than glass, Vetra," Lyrielle murmured, her silver hair catching the starlight as she stepped up to the balcony. "The energy lingering in these archives... it’s pure, ancient creation magic. The foundational blocks of life itself."
Solaria stood beside Vince’s throne, her golden eyes wide as she traced the glowing glyphs of the nearest obelisk with her gaze. "To think such a place existed beyond our firmament. The Solari priests spent centuries searching for the First Dawn, believing it to be a myth."
"And now it’s just another room in my house," Vince spoke smoothly from his obsidian throne.
His dark velvet cloak draped over his broad shoulders, and his dark amethyst eyes glinted with possessive calm. Barnaby sat contentedly in his lap, playing with a small, floating orb of silver twilight energy he had condensed for her, her Lotus Core purring happily against his chest.
Before Elena could finish mapping the sector, a sudden, blinding flash of pure white light erupted at the center of the archive cluster.
CLANG—
A sound like a thousand silver chimes resonated across the vacuum, carrying no physical shockwave, but a heavy, authoritative psychic presence that sought to command absolute obedience.
From the radiant white light, a majestic figure materialized. It stood twenty feet tall, draped in flowing robes woven from stardust and silver thread. Its face was a smooth, featureless mask of polished platinum, and six sweeping wings made of pure divine light spanned out from its back.
"UNAUTHORIZED FLEET DETECTED IN THE HOLY ARCHIVES," the entity declared, its voice echoing with the synchronized harmony of a thousand scholars. "I AM THE FIRST KEEPER, LIBRARIAN OF THE CREATOR COUNCIL. MORTAL INTRUDERS, SURRENDER, SUBMIT YOUR MEMORIES AND PREPARE FOR COSMIC RE-INDEXING."
Vetra rolled her shoulders, a sharp-fanged grin spreading across her face. "Re-indexing? Is that what they call lobotomies out here?"
"YOU STAND UPON THE SOIL OF ORIGIN," the First Keeper continued, raising a tall, platinum staff tipped with a glowing celestial sphere. "NO LOWER-REALM SOVEREIGN MAY ENTER WITHOUT PROGENITOR SANCTION. BE SEALED WITHIN THE VAULTS OF FORGOTTEN THOUGHTS."
The First Keeper slammed its staff down against the void.
Instantly, three massive continent-sized obelisks shifted position, surrounding the celestial-jade citadel in a triangular formation. Massive curtains of golden light dropped from the obelisks, locking together to form an impenetrable, multidimensional cage designed to sever the citadel from all external reality laws.
"Dimensional quarantine activated," Elena noted crisply, though her expression remained completely unbothered. "Our spatial movement has been restricted."
Solaria drew her solar blade, her twilight mark flaring warmly against her skin. "Sovereign Vince, give the order. I will pierce the keeper’s barrier."
"No need to exert yourselves," Vince said softly, his velvet baritone cutting through the hum of the keeper’s cosmic cage.
Vince raised a single hand from the armrest of his throne. He didn’t summon a weapon, nor did he chant a incantation. He simply flexed his fingers, unleashing the raw, absolute weight of his twilight domain outward.
CRACK—
The multidimensional cage didn’t just break—the glowing golden curtains shattered into a billion harmless sparks of starlight. The three continent-sized obelisks groaned under the sudden, crushing pressure of Vince’s authority, their ancient glyphs turning from gold to deep, royal amethyst as his domain violently rewrote their root ownership.
The First Keeper’s featureless platinum face twitched as its six wings of light flickered violently. "IMPOSSIBLE... THE ORIGIN GLYPHS ARE REJECTING CREATOR PROTOCOLS! WHAT MANNER OF MONSTER ARE YOU?"
Vince rose slowly from his throne, handing Barnaby gently to Lyrielle before stepping down to the center of the bridge. His amethyst eyes burned with cold, dark absolute dominance.
"I am the one who owns your library now," Vince commanded, his voice echoing through the entire Nebular Archive. "Keeper... drop to your knees."
The absolute domain slammed into the First Keeper like a collapsing universe.
The twenty-foot-tall celestial entity gasped, its six wings of light shattering into dust as the unimaginable weight forced its towering frame downward. Its platinum staff snapped in two against the deck of the void, and with a deafening groan of crushed pride, the First Keeper crashed heavily onto both knees in front of the citadel, its platinum face pressed firmly against the starlit floor.
"AHHH...! MY ORIGIN MATRIX... IT OBEYS YOU...!" the Keeper choked out, its voice trembling with overwhelming, instinctual terror.
Vetra laughed boisterously, resting her foot on the bridge railing. "Told you! Nobody gives Vince commands in his own domain!"
Solaria watched in breathless admiration as Vince stepped back toward his throne, his authority unchallenged and supreme across the entire archive realm.
"Elena," Vince instructed smoothly as he sat back down, pulling Barnaby back into his side. "Extract every blueprint, realm design, and progenitor secret from this archive. Let’s see what else these ’creators’ have been hiding from us."
"Beginning total data extraction now," Elena replied with a rare, elegant smirk, her fingers gliding across her slate as the entire Nebular Archive bowed to Vince’s absolute command.
