Opening a Magic Academy at the End of the World [Yuri, Transgender, Book 1 Complete]

Epilogue | PoV: Omniscient

The tempest disappeared (unexpectedly), and nobody had expected the rainstorms to come.

For many hours after the tempest had vanished, Glorestra suffocated underneath a constant rain. Until the whole city flooded with a pace high of rain. They had some time to prepare, moving low things away from where they would be damaged. It took those hours, as the water level rose, centimeter by centimeter. Yet, eventually, the flood became too high.

It turned out, having a city in a crater, not used to rains, was not a good place to be after the tempest fell. The walls of the crater and the city, once not really meaning anything, were now an active detriment to the city. They were now prison walls slowly drowning it.

Rain still came after the initial rainstorm, adding to the pace-deep lake across the entire city. It piled on faster than the two suns could evaporate it or the ground could soak it in. For a hundred and seventy years, the lands had been parched.

People had scrambled to get out of the city. Building projects quickly moved outside the walls, out where the crater couldn't add to their suffering.

They built angled roofs and ditches to alleviate the rain outside the walls. Inside, however, was doomed.

The multi-story buildings once meant for the rich became the new houses for the poor. The mage towers as well, since the city did not have need for them anymore. Mages were not necessary to keep back the tempest.

There was no tempest.

Though, it turned out being able to heat stuff and manipulate time and air were all still very useful skills. Also, the um, the other thing about to be mentioned helped to keep the mages employed.

So, that was the rain problem.

However . . .

. . . just as nobody expected the rains, neither did anybody expect the portals of Hell to open up.

Merely an hour after the tempest cleared, purple ovals began to sprout out around Glorestra, and even beyond. Strange monsters crawled out of them and caused damage, seeking food and having a preference for human flesh.

The mages kept the monsters back with heat, wind, and blunt force. Yet, they kept coming.

Not many people wanted to step into the portals to see what was beyond or to fight them. The few who did enter never came back.

Until strange mages arrived, set up an equally curious new guild, and began clearing the portals. As time went on, the portals weren't even the most perplexing things to come.
