Chapter 57
Chapter 57
Chase Jacobs
POV
The next day Stella and I went home, mostly because my parents were both at my house with Koah, I know she must be anxious about an update and my parents want to see Stella.
Stella refused to let go of me the entire ride home.
I was glad I wasn’t driving. Or we would have had a problem.
The second we stepped through the front door, she clung even tighter, when she heard my parents talking.
"I don’t like being alone daddy..." she says softly into my neck.
My heart breaks.
"I know, sweetheart." I kiss the top of her head. "You never have to be alone again, you have mommy, daddy, uncle Cole, aunt Koah, grandma and grandpa. And we all love you very much, you’ll never alone again. No more bad guys are going to take you." I promise her.
I wasn’t lying to her. My promise is real. I would never let anything like this happen again.
I feel her nod against my shoulder.
I walk further into the house and see my parents on the sofa. My mother stands quickly.
My mom is already in tears, she takes Stella from me hugging her to her chest. "Oh my poor baby."
Stella hugs her back without saying a word.
My dad stands to quietly next to my mom whispering in Stella’s ear.
My father looked older and thinner than the last time I saw him.
His hands tremble as he tries to comfort her. I wasn’t sure if he was trying to comfort Stella or himself.
Stella stretches her hands out to him. He takes her from my mom, but sits down with her.
I couldn’t help but worry.
My mom comes over to me hugging me.
"You look terrible..." she says holding me in her arms.
"Gee thanks mom, I appreciate the compliment..."
"I’m being honest with you. How are you doing after everything?" she asks.
I sigh. "I feel terrible. It feels like this is all my fault. I should have gotten a few guards to watch over them. This wouldn’t have happened if I had been more alert." I blamed myself for what happened. There was no one but myself to blame for it.
"That’s not true is it? You aren’t to blame for what happened, the people who took and tried to hurt Carly and Stella are in the wrong. This has nothing to do with you..." she tells me.
I sigh, but before I could answer her, I heard footsteps behind me when I turn I see Michael. One look at his face told me everything I needed to know.
"Mom do you mind watching Stella for me for a few hours?" I ask her.
She looks at my face as if she’s trying to see if there’s anything in my expression that could give away what’s going on.
But I give nothing away.
"Sure I don’t mind. But what about Carly?" She asks.
"I have two guards outside her room and I’m going to ask Koah if she wants to visit her.
After sorting out my parents and Stella, we first drive to the hospital to drop Koah, then we make our way to where Michael was keeping the bastards who took my daughter and Carly.
All the anger I let of yesterday came rushing back. I wanted nothing more than to tear them apart limb from limb.
The warehouse the bastards were kept in was on the outskirts of town, the place was rundown and looked forgotten.
Michael and I got out of the car and walked toward the building.
Michael opened the metal door for me, I step in and he follows behind me.
I notice the floor men sitting in four different metal chairs, they were tied down by hand cuffs to each limb.
The bruises on their faces must be from Michael’s men that were lined up against the wall.
I ignored them and focused on the four men who traumatized my daughter and nearly killed her.
The moment they saw me, they stiffened, I noticed how they all recognized me.
"Chase Jacobs the actor?" one asks.
"What the hell is going on?" another asks.
"What did we do to you?"
That one pissed me off. Did they take Stella without knowing who she was or were they fucking with me?
Either way it pissed me off.
"Who hired you?" I ask.
At first they looked confused.
Then one of them smirks. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."
Anger takes over before I could stop myself my fist connected with his jaw. Pain shoots up my arm.
The chair flips over.
He crashes onto the floor with a pained scream.
One of Michael’s men moved and brought the man back up.
Before he went back to the wall.
The other three men stared at me in shock.
I watched as blood drips from his mouth.
"I’ll ask again who the fuck hired you to throw my daughter in a burning building?" I ask.
The bastard spits the blood from his mouth onto the floor refusing to answer me.
This time I kick him in the chest.
He falls again this time I don’t give them a chance to help him up. I hit him in the face, relieving some of my anger.
I move away from him and look at his friends. "Who. Hired. You?" I ask.
"We-we don’t know their name!" one shouts before I could hit him.
I look at him. "You really expect me to believe that?" do you think I’m some dumb fucker you could sweet talk?"
"It’s-it’s true! We were contacted via email. We don’t even know if it’s a man or a woman..." another says.
"You better start talking." Michael warns.
The man’s breathing becomes erratic. "We got an email from this person asking us to take a man’s mistress and their love child. We were told it was the child was a bastard trying to take inheritance or something like that..."
I frown. Am I supposed to believe this bullshit. Not even a damn child would believe this.
"That sounds like horse shit!" I spit out.
" It’s true they asked us woman and the little girl."
My jaw clenches. "What else?"
"We were told to make it look like a murder suicide, like the woman lost her mind and tried to kill the girl and herself."
I frown looking at the idiots in front of me. Who the fuck would believe that when there is video evidence of them taking Stella and Carly? Plus they left her car unattended and open which alerted mall security.
His voice cracked. "We made sure both were passed out so they wouldn’t feel pain." The one of the floor says.
"Oh really that’s supposed to make it right? You were going to burn my daughter alive and the fact that you drugged both of them made it all better?" I ask.
They quickly shake their heads no when they hear my tone.
"I’m going to make sure you’re all passed out when I set this place on fire. It’s the right thing to do right?" I sneer.
They are now begging for their lives. I ignore them and look at Michael.
"I’m already in their emails. Once I have the email address I’ll be able to trace it.
I imagine Carly fighting for her life while protecting Stella, while these fuckers ran away after getting the money for hurting her.
My phone rings but I ignore it.
All I can see if Carly wrapping herself over Stella so Stella didn’t suffer from any burns.
I know Stella’s scraps and bruises are from them manhandling her. All I see is Carly’s desperate attempts to save Stella at the cost of her own life.
The more I think about it the more pissed off I am at whoever ordered these fuckers to hurt them.
The goal was for Carly to take the blame. But what Inheritance? I didn’t have any other children, I wasn’t married or planning on having more kids any time soon. Maybe one day if Carly and I do end up together.
But not now. Plus Carly was never my mistress. She went from stranger, to Stella’s nanny to her mother. We haven’t even slept together.
Well since the night Stella was conceived. Which I really wish I didn’t remember. Seeing Carly the way she was that night made me want her exactly that way again.
I shake those thoughts out of my head. I needed to focus.
I watched Michael work, the bastards were still screaming for their lives but I ignored them. And focused on Michael.
I watched Michael pause and stop typing. He frowns. Then types again. This time his frown deepens.
"What’s going on?" I ask him.
He looks at me then back at the screen. "This can’t be right..." he mutters under his breath.
"What’s wrong?" I ask.
"I did a reverse trace on the email address like I said I would. But..." he pauses again looking at me with a pained frown.
"What is it?" "I ask walking over to him.
"It leads back to one person..." he says.
" Okay?"
He turns the screen toward be and looks right at my face.
I look at him then the screen.
That address looks familiar.
No it couldn’t.
"It traces back to Amelia West, your ex wife..." he says dropping a damn bomb.
