Global Pioener: Earth Second Change

51. The Price of Communication

Across the countless Pioneer Islands, the atmosphere among Garuda Nation's Pioneers changed after they finished reading the message from Earth.

Many of them had spent every day worrying about the families they had left behind.

Now, at last, they could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Fajar tightened his grip on his spear.

"If my kid's safe..."

His eyes hardened.

"...then there's no way I'm losing."

Andre smiled as he dismissed his blue interface.

"Guess all that's left is to do my job."

He looked toward the sea.

"And make sure the shipments get home."

Some of the other Pioneers, especially those from humble families, quietly wiped away tears after learning that their parents, wives, or children were finally living far better lives.

The greatest burden weighing on their hearts was gone. Now they only had to survive and bring home as many resources as possible.

One after another, the Pioneers left their islands. Some sailed toward tropical islands. Others chose the swamps. A few even headed for the rocky islands despite the risks.

Their determination was completely different from before and they were no longer fighting simply to survive.

They were fighting to repay the nation that had protected the people they loved.

Meanwhile, Rangga slowly closed his own blue screen. The smile on his face still hadn't faded after reading Putri's message.

He patted the chest plate of his Swamp Armor.

"Back to work..."

His voice was calm.

"Putri's safe back home."

A grin spread across his face.

"Guess it's my turn to work even harder."

He picked up his longbow, confirmed that all five javelins were still secured across his back, then walked toward the dock.

A new day had begun and for the Pioneers of Garuda Nation, their determination no longer came solely from the desire to survive.

It came from the certainty that every battle they fought was truly changing the lives of the people waiting for them on Earth.

Inside Garuda Nation's Presidential Palace, President Prabu, General Suryo, and several ministers continued watching the massive screens displaying live feeds from the Garuda Pioneers.

One after another, the Pioneers could be seen leaving their islands with renewed determination. Now they knew. Their families were safe.

The atmosphere inside the conference room had become noticeably lighter.

Then the doors suddenly opened. The Minister of Foreign Affairs entered carrying a thick folder.

"Mr. President..."

He placed it on the table.

"I've brought the latest report."

President Prabu looked up.

"What is it?"

The minister opened the folder.

"Several countries have reported that their communications with their Pioneers were censored."

The room immediately fell silent and General Suryo frowned.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from NovelPhoenix. Please report it.

"What do you mean?"

The minister flipped through several pages.

"They attempted to send analyses gathered from other countries' Pioneer livestreams."

"Weaknesses of mechanical creatures... Methods for defeating them... Information regarding materials and technology."

He paused.

"But when the messages reached their Pioneers... every important section had been replaced with blank boxes."

He gestured toward one of the staff members. Moments later, the large screen displayed recordings from several foreign Pioneers.

"Huh?"

"It's all boxes?"

"What does that even mean?"

"Why are the important parts missing?"

More recordings followed. Each showed confused Pioneers staring at messages where detailed explanations had become nothing but rows of black squares.

The Foreign Minister continued.

"Several governments have publicly admitted they regret their decision."

"They believe they wasted this seven-day communication opportunity."

"Only now have they realized that this kind of information cannot be transmitted."

General Suryo still looked puzzled.

"So... What does that have to do with us?"

The minister turned toward him.

"Because we didn't send information like that..."

He hesitated.

"They've started suspecting that Garuda Nation knows something they don't."

General Suryo immediately shook his head.

"Knows what?"

He pointed toward the screens still showing Garuda's Pioneers.

"Major Deri has already become the information hub for all of our Pioneers... Every night, he reports everything the Pioneers have discovered."

"Who found a new island... Who discovered new materials.. Who encountered a new type of mechanical creature."

"It all gathers there."

He smiled faintly.

"Because of that... We never needed to send those answers from Earth... The answers already exist in the Pioneers' own world."

General Suryo's gaze shifted toward another screen. Rangga was walking toward the dock wearing his new Swamp Armor with his longbow slung over his shoulder.

A faint smile appeared on the general's face.

"As long as Rangga keeps sharing what he discovers... And Major Deri keeps spreading that information to everyone else..."

"Garuda Nation will never have to rely on cheat sheets from Earth."

Silence filled the room once again.

Now everyone understood why Garuda Nation had avoided the losses suffered by so many other countries.

Around the world, the failure of the second seven-day communication window quickly became a major topic of public debate.

At first, many governments had believed they made the right decision by sending strategic analyses about the Pioneer World.

But once it became clear that nearly all of that information had been censored into rows of black boxes...

Regret spread rapidly.

News outlets across the globe openly questioned those decisions.

"The communication window only opens once every seven days."

"So why waste it sending information that would simply be censored?"

Social media quickly exploded with criticism. Many people questioned why their governments hadn't used the opportunity to reassure their Pioneers.

To tell them their families were safe. To encourage them. Or simply to let them know that the people they loved were waiting for them back home.

Even the families of several Pioneers expressed their disappointment to the media.

"Would it really have been so difficult to tell my son we're okay?"

"My child probably needed news from home more than battle strategies."

"If the information was going to be censored anyway..."

"Wasn't that communication opportunity completely wasted?"

Public pressure continued to grow. Several governments were forced to hold emergency press conferences.

Some admitted they had never anticipated the censorship system.

Others promised to revise their communication strategy before the next seven-day window.

Many nations finally realized. Communicating with their Pioneers wasn't just about sending information.

Inside the presidential office of Bald Eagle Nation, the atmosphere was far more tense than it had been only hours earlier.

Report after report covered the conference table.

The giant screen continued broadcasting international news discussing the failed communication attempt.

The President rubbed his temples.

"So... We wasted one entire communication opportunity."

No one answered. Finally, one of the analysts stood up.

"Mr. President... The problem isn't only that our message was censored."

The President looked up.

"Go on."

The analyst took a deep breath.

"Garuda Nation used that opportunity to give their Pioneers very specific guidance."

"They established resource priorities."

"They informed them about their families."

"And they gave them a clear objective."

He pointed toward the screen displaying Rangga.

"Our Pioneers... Received none of that."

Silence returned and the analyst continued.

"For the next seven days... Garuda Nation's Pioneers will gather resources according to their nation's strategic needs."

"Our Pioneers... will continue acting without any clear priorities... That gap in development will only grow wider."

The President slowly clenched his fists.

"So... We've handed them a full seven-day advantage."

"Yes."

That single word made the room feel even heavier. The Chief of Defense finally spoke.

"And seven days in the Pioneer World is a very long time."

"In only fourteen days... Rangga has already grown this much."

He looked around the room.

"Imagine what Garuda Nation can accomplish over the next seven days now that every Pioneer knows exactly what they should be doing."

The President suddenly stood.

"No... We cannot allow Garuda Nation to widen the gap any further."

His eyes swept across everyone in the room.

"I need solutions."

"Now."

Everyone exchanged uneasy glances. Yet no one answered. Because they all knew the truth.

The next communication window would not open for another seven days. And there was no way to change the message that had already been sent.

Several seconds later, one analyst finally spoke in a quiet voice.

"Mr. President... For the next seven days... All we can do... is hope our Pioneers make new breakthroughs on their own."

It wasn't the answer the President wanted but it was the only one anyone could give.

The room fell silent once more.
