Apocalypse Transmigration - The Card Captor System

Chapter 76: Battle against the one Horned demons

Atlas immediately charged toward one of the mutants with astonishing speed.

As the distance between them vanished, he threw a heavy punch.

"SHOCKWAVE PISTON!"

The mutant responded by slashing its claws toward Atlas’s fist.

Clang!

Metal collided with claw, sending sparks flying.

A split second later—

Boom!

A powerful shockwave erupted from Atlas’s gauntlet, violently blasting the mutant backward. The creature was thrown several meters away before crashing through a pile of debris.

Without giving it a chance to recover, Atlas immediately charged after it, dragging the battle farther away from the camp.

From behind, Leo shouted,

"Atlas! Aim for its heart! That’s its weak spot!"

Atlas looked back briefly and flashed his usual innocent grin.

"Got it!"

Leo was just about to intercept the remaining mutants when Nina suddenly stepped in front of him.

"Leave these two to me."

"You keep an eye out in case something unexpected happens."

Leo glanced at her skeptically, but after a brief moment, he nodded.

"...Alright."

He decided to trust her this once.

Nina snapped her fingers.

The two crab-like machines instantly changed direction and scurried toward the approaching mutants.

The moment the creatures entered their range—

Boom! Boom!

Both machines released violent shockwaves simultaneously.

The powerful impact caught the mutants off guard, sending them flying several meters backward. However, aside from being knocked away, they didn’t appear to have suffered any serious injuries.

By then, Danny and Linda had already reached the truck.

The two hurried inside without looking back.

Nina folded her arms and looked at Leo with a smug grin.

Her expression practically screamed,

’See? Now praise me.’

Instead, Leo frowned.

His gaze shifted from the recovering mutants to the two mechanical crabs.

"Do those machines only produce shockwaves?"

Nina puffed out her chest proudly.

"Amazing, aren’t they?"

"They’re my masterpiece."

Leo slowly shook his head.

"If that’s all they can do..."

"You should get inside the truck."

"Those shockwaves might be effective against zombies, but they won’t kill these creatures."

"If you stay out here, you’ll only be putting yourself in danger."

Nina immediately frowned.

"You don’t need to worry about me."

"This isn’t my first battle."

"I’m not asking you to save me."

"So mind your own business."

Leo was about to persuade her again when he noticed the two mutants climbing back to their feet.

They looked completely unharmed.

He didn’t have time to argue.

Without another word, he drew a Glock from his belt and tossed it to Nina.

"I hope you know how to use it."

"Protect yourself."

"I’ll deal with them."

Nina caught the pistol with one hand and let out a snort.

"Hmph."

"You don’t have to remind me."

"I’m not a kid."

Spinning the kusarigama at high speed, Leo charged straight toward the two approaching one-horned mutants.

When the distance between them shrank to barely a meter, he suddenly swung the sickle toward the neck of the mutant on the left.

The creature immediately halted and slashed at the incoming blade with its metallic claws.

However, Leo had never intended to strike it in the first place.

With a sharp twist of his wrist, the sickle abruptly changed direction and shot toward the second mutant instead.

The second mutant instinctively raised an arm to block.

Instead of cutting into it, the chain coiled tightly around its forearm.

Caught.

At that exact moment, the first mutant closed the distance and slashed its claws toward Leo’s head.

Leo calmly raised the chain between them.

Clang!

The claws collided with the taut chain, producing a shower of sparks.

Without missing a beat, Leo twisted the chain around his arm, locking the mutant’s claws in place.

Now both mutants had one arm restrained.

The second mutant immediately attacked with its free claw.

Leo lowered his head just in time.

The razor-sharp claws swept over him...

Only to rake across the chest of the other restrained mutant instead.

Slash!

Three deep claw marks were carved into its black armor, sending fresh blood spraying into the air.

Leo’s eyes flashed.

Gripping the middle of the chain with one hand, he seized the heavy metal counterweight at the opposite end of the kusarigama with the other.

Then he swung it like a hammer.

Bang!

The weighted handle smashed into the first mutant’s face.

Before it could recover—

Bang!

The counterweight reversed direction and slammed into the second mutant’s skull.

Leo gave them no chance to regain their footing.

The heavy steel weight whistled through the air again and again, striking from impossible angles.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

One mutant’s nose caved in beneath the relentless blows.

The other’s forehead split open as dark blood streamed down its face.

Neither creature could break free from the chain before the next strike arrived.

Meanwhile, the entire survivor camp had descended into chaos.

The sudden appearance of the one-horned mutants had thrown everyone into panic.

Unlike the mindless zombies, these creatures fought with intelligence. They coordinated their attacks, adapted to their opponents, and seized every opening with ruthless precision.

From every direction, desperate screams echoed through the camp.

Leo heard them all.

But he didn’t spare them a single glance.

At this moment...

The only thing before his eyes was the two deadly opponents standing in front of him.

Suddenly, every one-horned mutant froze.

In the next instant, they all turned toward Leo simultaneously.

As though they had received the same command, the rampaging creatures abandoned their current targets without hesitation and charged toward his location.

Leo immediately noticed the change.

His eyes narrowed.

Meanwhile, the survivors who had narrowly escaped death didn’t stop to help him. Seizing the opportunity, they fled toward the section of the camp where the military was stationed.

Without wasting another second, he abandoned his relentless barrage with the kusarigama. His right hand flashed to his waist as the Moonsteel Shortsword slid free from its sheath.

With a swift pivot, he swept his leg into one mutant’s ankle.

The creature instantly lost its balance and crashed heavily onto the ground.

Its restrained arm violently yanked on the chain wrapped around the second mutant’s wrist.

Caught completely off guard, the second mutant was dragged down as well.

Both creatures collapsed into a tangled heap.

Leo’s eyes flashed with killing intent.

He stepped forward in a single stride and drove the Moonsteel Shortsword straight into the first mutant’s heart.

Thrust!

The razor-sharp blade pierced through its black armor as though it were paper.

Leo twisted the hilt violently.

The mutant convulsed, coughing out a mouthful of black blood before the light gradually faded from its crimson eyes.

Its lifeless body slumped forward, collapsing on top of the second mutant, which was still struggling to free itself from the tangled chain.
