Chapter 244: Screens
"You have two blueprints with you, one belongs to a Fourth Level tower and the other to a Fifth Level tower. As for the first, it can monitor a circle with a diameter of a hundred kilometers, and the second can monitor a region with a diameter of a thousand kilometers" Vaelor explained with a simple smile on his face "these towers operate using the Law of Light, the Law of Sound, the Law of Life, and the Path of the Soul, and they don't just monitor and detect, you can even set an alert if a certain threshold of power or a certain race appears, if that level of power or that race appears, the towers will immediately report it and place a tracking mark on the target!"
These towers Vaelor had previously bought from the Eternal Night Heaven, but they weren't as powerful as they now appeared, for they had originally operated using only the Laws of Light, Sound, and Blood, but after obtaining them, Vaelor had replaced the Law of Blood with the more comprehensive and powerful Law of Life, and added the Path of the Soul to them. Finally making them one of the highest-tier watchtowers!
"Now that we have the Astrol, I expect the industrial and production power to rise several times over, and in addition to the watchtowers, I want you to also finish the general transport line and the industrial transport line as soon as possible" Vaelor should have been happy with this acceleration in the pace of progress, but instead he was scowling!
"I'll give you five years to completely finish establishing the transport lines and planting the watchtowers across all the lands we control and linking them together" then Vaelor turned his gaze toward the sky, looking at the blue moon with distant eyes, saying in a deep voice "and it would be best if I find no delay by then!"
Vaelor had decided, after deep thought and after this news, to slow the pace of play down a little!
Things weren't looking good so far, and a strange feeling kept coming over him every so often that a disaster was approaching, and after gaining control over the seven kingdoms, that revelation had come to him not to overreach in attacking more kingdoms and expanding his influence again... and on top of this, that greater, unknown danger called the Lord still loomed, and they knew nothing about him except scraps from a distant history, in addition to the fact that the races from outside this continent, who had left in the ancient era, hadn't appeared yet!
With every step Vaelor took forward, the fog of mystery and danger seemed to surround him more, and naturally the System's mission had never been easy at all. It appeared simple on the surface, but it later turned out to be shrouded in a thick fog of deception and lies.
It had initially told him that the maximum level this world allowed was the Fourth Level, but only a few months had passed and Fifth Level people had appeared, and perhaps soon Sixth Level people as well!
But what Vaelor didn't know, was that there were now two guillotines on their way to sever his head!
.
.
.
In a vast place with no end in sight, millions of colored threads floated at a speed that seemed slow at first glance, but if you looked at them for even a brief while, you'd be surprised to find yourself captive to them, time around you passing at a terrifying speed!
At this moment, at the center of this strange world, Ourabos sat upon a majestic golden throne, radiating authority and grandeur. And before her stood thousands of glowing screens, monitoring them all at once!
There were screens displaying every kingdom and city on the surface of this world, and there were dedicated screens displaying specific individuals.
A screen displaying a live broadcast of the Falcon Emperor, sitting calmly upon his throne, trying to explore the Sixth Level of the Law of Wind. And a screen displaying a broadcast of the Golden Lion Emperor, fighting several monsters and toying with them the way a professional toys with chess pieces. And a screen displaying a broadcast of the Dragon Emperor in his den, engaged in a fierce battle against dozens of women. And a screen displaying a broadcast of the Elf Empress, reviewing the empire's plans with her advisors. And a screen displaying a tree of immense size and height, exceeding a kilometer in height, yet remaining still and calm in its place, as though time around it stood frozen!
And on the other hand, there were dozens of screens displaying hundreds of flying ships soaring above an endless ocean, no matter which direction you looked, but from the direction of their flight, it was clear they were heading toward the Mother Continent!
As for the Mother Continent itself, the largest number of screens was dedicated to it alone, apart from the rest of the continents. There were screens broadcasting each bank branch. And a screen displaying that region rich in Silestium ore. And another screen for one of the caves in that region, where a gigantic bird lay in a large pool of blood, radiating a dangerous Fifth Level aura... and worse still, that aura was growing!
And in other regions, there were screens displaying one of the mountainous areas in the region of the Phoenix Kingdom, where there was a small lake filled with blood, and Phoenix race soldiers came every few minutes to throw in dozens of monster corpses, and the moment those corpses fell into that lake, they began decomposing and transforming into blood!
And there was another screen displaying what lay beneath that blood lake, where there was a gigantic red egg, roughly two meters tall, glowing with numerous mysterious symbols, absorbing the essence of blood around it!
And other broadcasts displaying several clips of giants chasing monsters, or destroying cities, or killing inhabitants, and screens displaying images of dozens of giants who had reached the Fifth Level, especially one of them whose height had reached fifty meters — the peak of the Fifth Level!
And another screen displaying both General Lanor and Leonor's army as they wiped out one of the giant monster nests in the Forest of Light. And a screen displaying Etham, Ranos, Valeria, Sedar, and the rest of the generals and leaders training. And a screen displaying both Imris and Zaylon training in the arts of assassination and espionage.
But among all those screens, two screens stood out above all others, as their size was larger and they gleamed with a brilliant light that set them apart from the rest of the screens.
The first screen displayed Vaelor sitting on his seat while monitoring Orion's breakthrough. As for the second screen, it displayed a region in the far northeast of the Mother Continent, where monsters controlled this region. But in one of the gigantic nests in that region, where there were tens of thousands of Fourth Level monsters, hundreds of Fifth Level monsters sat and lay upon their backs, bellies, or even their rumps, forming a large ring, and in its middle there was a gigantic nest made of rocks and tree trunks, and in that nest there was a gigantic egg, ten meters long!
All those screens broadcast all those scenes calmly, without anyone knowing they were being watched at this moment, and at every moment!
"What magnificent sights!" a deep voice sounded from behind the World Spirit Ourabos, but she wasn't even startled by that voice, on the contrary, she smiled!
"They'll certainly be magnificent sights, especially if everything is heading toward being against you!" Ourabos didn't even turn to face the speaker, content instead to mock him and keep following the events on all those screens.
The Lord appeared in his human form behind Ourabos, and none of those wandering threads or this world's laws could affect him, and on top of all this, the Lord advanced with complete ease toward Ourabos until he stood beside her, looking at those screens as well "you're saying everything is heading against me, hah!"
The Lord held his chin, rubbing it, and smiled "I recall the last person who said that to me was an Immortal King" then he looked at Ourabos, smiling slyly "do you know where he is now!"
At this question, Ourabos turned to the Lord, furrowing her brows, asking with genuine curiosity "where?"
"Hehehehehehe, in my stomach, of course!" the Lord laughed slyly, patting his stomach, then gave Ourabos one last glance before looking back at the screens again; "that fool thought he could face me as an equal after blocking a few of my strikes, but he didn't know I was just playing with him" then he shook his head with some regret...
"But what a shame, those humans are so tiny they can't even fill the gap between my fangs. Even if I devoured a few million of them in a single meal, they'd barely count as a light snack!"
"Oooh, what a sad story, that Immortal King has probably turned into excrement by now!" Ourabos paid no mind to the threat the Lord had slipped into his words, instead mocking him and continuing to watch the screens.
"Certainly it's happened, for that incident was more than a hundred thousand years ago" then he looked at Ourabos from the corner of his eye, mocking "but do you know who still underestimates me to this very moment, and is about to meet a fate quite similar to that fool's" then he smiled slyly, extending his hand toward the screens...
"It's you!"
