Chapter 222: The Women
"But I have to warn you, enjoy these views as much as you can, because in the coming days you won’t have enough time to enjoy them!"
"Ooh! That’s a shame" Olivia was a little surprised and looked at Ayat "it seems there’s a lot of work these days, but I don’t think it would be bad to work in a place like this, amid such nature. This is truly a place worthy of being the capital of a powerful kingdom like King Vaelor’s"
"You’re right, the work these days is far more than you’d expect, and that’s because the kingdom is still in its beginnings and we’re facing many problems, and because this city emerged not long ago from a war that claimed more than half its population" Ayat said indifferently, and upon hearing these words, Olivia quickly lowered her head in embarrassment and regret, not having the courage to say a single word in this situation, but she soon heard Ayat’s voice again...
"And who told you this is the capital of King Vaelor’s kingdom?"
Upon hearing this question, Olivia raised her head, furrowing her brows slightly, and looked at Ayat in confusion "isn’t that natural? King Vaelor lives here, his royal palace is here, the administration of his kingdom’s affairs is here, so if this isn’t his kingdom’s capital, then what is it?... or does he have another capital?"
"No, it’s not that he has another capital, it’s that it hasn’t been built yet, and his palace and the administration of his affairs and his seat of rule are here for the same reason!" Ayat smiled and shook her head "the City of Light will remain the sanctuary city for elves alone, specifically the elves of the City of Light and no others, and King Vaelor won’t allow anyone else to reside here, but he’s made a few exceptions for some of you during this brief period, only so that the construction of the new capital can be hastened, one that will contain all seven races, and the banks that will be the face of the kingdom!"
Olivia looked at Ayat in astonishment for a while, then shook her head, smiling "I truly envy you all, I don’t think any other people will come to earn King Vaelor’s approval and esteem to this degree"
"It’s not just a matter of approval or esteem, the relationship between the City of Light and King Vaelor is far more complex, we fell together and we rose together, the relationship between us isn’t merely a relationship between a people and their king, it’s a relationship between a nation and its lord!" Ayat spoke calmly, smiling, and when she spotted a few familiar faces, she grabbed Olivia’s wrist and pulled her, striding forward with wider steps "come on, let’s go, they’re over there!"
.....
"Hahahahahaha, what did I tell you guys!" Ethar laughed heartily as he recounted a few of his moments during his adventure in the Golden Lion city. Around him stood Ranos, Zaylon, Sedar, and Valeria. But suddenly Ethar stopped laughing when he saw his friends’ faces shift from cheerful to tense!
"What’s wrong with you guys?" Ethar raised his eyebrow, looking at his friends in suspicion, but suddenly a severe, cold shiver ran through his entire body when he felt a soft, delicate hand grip his massive, muscular shoulder!
"I heard you went through many fascinating adventures in the Golden Lion Kingdom, so why don’t you tell me some of them?" a delicate voice came from behind Ethar, but that delicate voice made him swallow involuntarily!
"Cough! Cough! I just remembered I have something important I need to take care of right now, so if you’ll excuse me, guys, I’ll be going!"
"Ahem! I also just remembered that today is the anniversary of my great-grandfather’s death, so I must go visit him, farewell, guys!"
Each of them invented an excuse to leave and get away from Ethar as quickly as possible, and Valeria grabbed Olivia’s hand and pulled her away "come with me, big sister, we haven’t gotten to know each other yet, and I think this is the perfect opportunity to do so!"
Within a few short seconds, Ethar was startled to find himself alone in the courtyard, with someone he didn’t wish to see anytime soon standing behind him!
"Oooh! Sister Ayat, is that you, what brings you here at this time, hehehe!" Ethar scratched the back of his head with his hand and turned to face Ayat.
"Oooh! Brother Ethar, did I come at a bad time? Or were you thinking about the Golden King’s captivating wives, the likes of whom have no equal on this continent, and you didn’t want anyone disturbing your train of thought?" Ayat twirled a lock of her hair around her finger several times and looked at Ethar with an entirely innocent look, speaking in a gentle voice.
"No, no, that’s definitely not what I meant, I swear I’m being honest!" Ethar waved his hand quickly, denying those accusations.
"Oooh! Is Brother Ethar saying now that I’m stupid and can’t understand what he’s saying?"
.....
The next morning, all the generals gathered again before the royal palace, and the last to arrive was Ethar!
"Ooh man! What’s that on your eye, what monster caused you injuries like these?!" when Orion saw the numerous blue bruises scattered across several spots on Ethar’s face, especially around his eyes, he immediately raised an eyebrow and asked with curiosity!
"Shut up, you idiot, do you think I, the great Thunder Bull, would be afraid of a mere girl, so what if she found out I know a few girls, do you think I’m scared of her?" Zaylon spoke like some caveman and mocked Ethar’s situation, and Ranos quickly followed suit, imitating him...
"You fool, and what’s it to me anyway, why are you treating me like she’s my wife, hahahahahaha"
Everyone laughed heartily at this sarcastic scene, but Zaylon and Ranos were both startled when the sunlight was suddenly blocked from them, and when they looked to the side, they saw Ethar blocking the sunlight from them, looking utterly furious at them.
After a few minutes, everyone entered the palace and headed straight for the throne hall, and upon entering, they immediately found King Vaelor sitting upon his majestic throne, with Imris standing calmly to his left, hands clasped behind his back, and on the right side stood Ayat, holding a small metal tablet, looking at everyone with a simple smile, especially when she looked at Ethar!
