My Wife Never Knew Who I Really Was

Chapter 27 – Your Connections Call Me Sir

"You dared hit me?" Zach Flynn shouted hysterically.

"Why wouldn't I?"

Ethan looked at him like he was an idiot.

"What exactly about you should make me afraid?"

"Fine. Since you want to die, I'll help you."

Zach pulled out his phone and began scrolling.

As he searched, he looked up at Ethan with arrogance returning to his face.

"Wait right there. I'll show you what connections mean."

Noah hurried over, flattering instantly.

"Fly, who are you calling?"

"Open your ears and listen. Derek Lowe."

Zach deliberately raised his voice, both to answer Noah and to warn Ethan.

"We race together all the time. Real brothers."

Hearing that Zach's great connection was Derek Lowe, Ethan turned toward Vivian in the stands.

Vivian happened to be looking at him.

Their eyes met.

Then both smiled.

"Derek Lowe?" Noah did not sense anything wrong. "You mean the Lowe family heir, Derek Lowe?"

His tone filled with admiration.

"Fly, you're amazing. You know someone that big?"

Zach lifted his chin.

"Of course. We drink and race together all the time. We're close."

Then he looked at Ethan with contempt.

"Kid, if you know what's good for you, kneel now and leave the car."

"When Mr. Lowe arrives, he won't be so easy to talk to."

Truthfully, Zach liked Ethan's car.

He wanted it for himself.

Ethan looked indifferent.

"Don't worry about me. Call him."

Zach paused.

He had not expected Ethan to show no fear after hearing Derek's name.

He comforted himself by deciding Ethan was only pretending.

Probably terrified inside.

"Good," Zach said through clenched teeth. "If you insist on dying, I'll grant you that."

He found Derek's number and called.

The phone rang twice before connecting.

Zach's face filled with a smile.

His voice became warm and humble.

"Mr. Lowe. It's me, Zach Flynn."

"Yes, yes. The one who raced with you last time."

"I ran into some trouble at the track. Some blind kid dared hit me. Could you..."

"Yes. Yes. I'll wait for you."

After hanging up, Zach glared at Ethan.

"Kid, don't leave. Mr. Lowe is coming."

In the spectator area, the three girls watched everything.

Lina crossed her arms and looked at the other two.

"This is the idol you worship?"

"No skill. No character. No looks. What exactly do you like about him?"

The two girls opened their mouths.

They found no answer.

They looked toward Noah and suddenly felt Lina was right.

What was there to admire about such a vile person?

They quietly put away their glow sticks.

Lina saw they could still turn back and did not mock them further.

Her gaze returned to Ethan, full of appreciation.

Ethan stood on the track facing Zach and Noah, the two shameless losers.

"You said..."

He flexed his fingers and smiled without warmth.

"When Derek arrives, what happens to me?"

Zach straightened his chest, trying to look confident.

"When Mr. Lowe arrives, you'll cry. Then even kneeling won't save you."

Ethan nodded.

"Then guess what happens to you before he arrives?"

Zach's smile disappeared.

He realized something.

Ethan kept walking closer.

The pressure rose with every step.

"What do you want?" Zach's throat moved. "You still want to fight?"

Ethan said nothing.

He only kept walking.

Zach saw he could not run and turned to Noah.

"Don't stand there. Together."

Noah startled.

"I... I can't fight."

"What are you afraid of? Two against one. We have the advantage."

Noah clenched his fists.

"Fine."

They exchanged a look and rushed at Ethan together.

Noah charged first, swinging a fist.

Zach followed behind, looking for a chance to attack from the side.

Then there was no then.

Ethan sidestepped Noah's punch and answered with a smooth strike to the face.

Noah's nose broke.

Blood flew.

He stumbled back several steps and finally fell heavily to the ground.

"Blood. My nose. My nose."

Zach looked over instinctively.

When he turned back, Ethan's palm filled his vision.

Slap.

Zach spun twice, seeing stars.

Before he steadied, Ethan kicked him.

Bang.

Zach flew several meters, rolled twice on the ground, and landed beside Noah.

The whole process took less than five seconds.

Ethan dusted off his hands and asked seriously, "Advantage? Where? I didn't see it."

Zach lay there holding his swollen face, unable to answer.

Noah curled beside him like a crushed insect, too hurt to even scream.

At that moment, footsteps came from the distance.

At the front was a young man in a custom suit, slicked-back hair, arrogant expression.

Derek Lowe had arrived.

Seeing him from the corner of his eye, Zach felt as if he had grabbed his last lifeline.

He struggled up, clutching his chest, and limped toward Derek.

Then he fell smoothly at Derek's feet and hugged his leg.

"Mr. Lowe. You're finally here. If you came any later, I might never get to talk racing with you again."

He pointed pitifully at Ethan.

"It's him. That kid didn't give me face, and even after knowing we're friends, he didn't give you face either. This isn't hitting my face. This is disrespecting you."

Derek looked disgusted by Zach's performance.

He did not speak immediately.

He followed Zach's finger and looked over.

The next second, Derek froze.

That face.

That figure.

Too familiar.

Derek's pupils contracted.

He rubbed his eyes and checked again.

Correct.

It was Ethan Cole.

Mr. Cole.

The man who controlled the fate of the Lowe family, the hidden power even his father served as a puppet.

More terrifying, Derek had recently heard from his father what happened at Tennant Auction House.

Ethan did not only control the Lowes.

All Four Families of Northbridge were under his hand.

The heads of those families had to call him Mr. Cole.

Zach failed to notice how terrible Derek's expression had become.

He kept clinging to Derek's leg and complaining.

"Mr. Lowe, this kid is too arrogant. You must teach him..."

Before he finished, Derek kicked him away.

The force threw Zach more than a meter.

Then Derek strode toward Ethan.

His steps grew faster until he was almost running.

Zach lay on the ground, saw this, and smiled with emotion.

"Mr. Lowe is so eager to stand up for me..."

He murmured, "He really treats me like a true brother."

Zach waited eagerly to watch Ethan get punished.

Reality was the opposite.

When Derek reached Ethan, he stopped.

His knees bent.

He knelt straight down.

No hesitation.

Clean and practiced, as if he had rehearsed the movement a hundred times.
