Structural Integrity Crisis
Life as a "Pride Leader" was significantly more exhausting than Elara’s Academy professors had ever warned. It turns out, when you magically bond with two high-energy beastkin, your one-bedroom apartment suddenly feels like a very small, very loud shoebox.
Elara sat at her small wooden desk, trying to calculate her new expenses. Between Mochi’s "accidental" acquisition of luxury snacks and Hops’ need for high-grade carrot-infused tea to soothe her sensitive nerves, the Baron’s gold was dwindling faster than Elara’s patience.
"Mochi! Why is there a bucket of expensive oysters on the kitchen counter?" Elara yelled, not looking up from her ledger.
"I didn't steal them, Master!" Mochi’s voice floated from the top of the wardrobe. "They were just... sitting on a merchant's wagon. They looked lonely. Besides, oysters are good for stamina. And considering the size of your... 'rolling pin' lately, I thought you could use the boost."
Elara’s face hit the desk with a dull thud. "I don't need a boost. I need a vacation."
A sudden, sharp ping echoed through the room.
"GAH!" Hops shrieked, diving under the bedsheets. "Master! The noise! The metal noise!"
Elara sighed, rubbing her temples. Thanks to the shared bond, her own ears were ringing too. The sound had just been a spoon falling off the drying rack, but with The All-Hearing Ear active, it sounded like a structural collapse.
"It’s okay, Hops," Elara said, walking over to the bed and gently patting the trembling lump under the covers. "It’s just a spoon. Your ears are just... extra sensitive today because of the level-up."
Hops peeked out, her white ears drooping. "It’s not just the noise, Master. I can hear the neighbors through the wall. The old man in 4E is currently complaining about his gout. And the couple in 4D is... well, they’re doing what we were doing this morning, but they’re much worse at it."
Elara flushed. This was the downside of growth—the apartment was no longer a sanctuary; it was a cacophony of the world’s mundane secrets.

"Right," Elara muttered, straightening her collar. "We can't stay here and listen to the neighbors all day. We need a target. Something quiet. Something with a lot of heavy doors and very little gout-complaining."
She opened the wax-sealed scroll that had been slid under her door. As she read the name Bishop Vale, her 'Predator' instincts gave a sharp, hungry thrum.
"Mochi, get down from there," Elara commanded, her voice regaining its professional edge. "Hops, get your ears ready. We’re going to church. But first..." She looked down at her waistline, where the fabric was already starting to tighten. "...we’re going to need a much stronger corset."
Elara stood in front of her small, rickety wardrobe, holding up what used to be her favorite pair of lavender lace panties. They were a delicate masterpiece of Academy-style craftsmanship, designed for the "Prim" side of her class. Now, they were essentially a tragic collection of threads held together by a gaping, jagged hole in the center.
"Again?" Elara whispered, her voice trembling with a mix of fury and genuine heartbreak. "That makes four. FOUR pairs this week."
"To be fair, Master," Mochi chirped, leaning over Elara’s shoulder with a grin, "the 'rolling pin' doesn't exactly have a 'Gentle' mode when it decides to say hello. It’s like trying to keep a dragon in a silk purse."
"It's not funny, Mochi!" Elara snapped, spinning around with her face a vibrant, humiliated shade of scarlet. "Do you have any idea how much these cost? I had to save for three weeks for this set! It was the only thing that made me feel like a normal girl instead of a... a walking siege engine!"
She tossed the ruined lace into the trash bin with a huff, her shoulders slumped. She was visibly upset, her lower lip tucked in a pout that definitely didn't match her 'Predator' title.
"Master looks like she’s going to cry," Hops whispered from the bed, her ears drooping in sympathy. "Maybe we can get you something with... reinforced seams?"
"I don't want reinforced seams!" Elara wailed, though she was already pulling on her boots. "I want to be cute! I want frills! I want to feel 'Prim and Proper,' not 'Industrial and Structural'!"
Twenty minutes later, they were at a specialized boutique in the merchant's district—the kind of place that catered to female knights and high-level adventurers. Elara stood in the changing room, staring with utter disdain at a pair of "Durable Linen Under-shorts" with double-stitched gussets and elasticized support bands.

"It looks like something a blacksmith would wear to a wrestling match," Elara muttered, tugging the thick, sturdy fabric up.
As she adjusted the heavy-duty corset that came with the set—designed to flatten her midsection and, more importantly, suppress the silhouette of her 'Persistent Growth'—she felt the breath leave her body. The corset was reinforced with whalebone and magical silk, specifically made to withstand the pressure of her rising 'Pride' levels.
"Master, are you okay?" Hops asked through the curtain. "I can hear your ribs groaning."
"I'm fine," Elara wheezed, looking in the mirror. The silhouette was perfect. From the outside, she looked like a slim, elegant elite server. But underneath... she felt like a coiled spring of masculine energy trapped in a feminine cage.
She stepped out of the changing room, looking quite put out. Her 'Morning Wood' chose that exact moment to pulse against the unyielding linen of her new under-shorts. For the first time, the fabric didn't give way.
"Well," Elara grumbled, her arms crossed over her chest. "At least I won't be flashing the Bishop. But I'm charging the Syndicate double for the emotional trauma of wearing 'Functional' underwear."
"Aww, look on the bright side," Mochi teased, snapping the elastic waistband of Elara’s new shorts. "They’re 'Claiming-Proof.' Think of how much money we’ll save on laundry!"
Elara just groaned and reached for the new 'High Tea' server uniform. The mission was officially starting, and she was already in a very bad mood.
