CHAPTER 119: KIRA
Looking at the bright blue text above Alice, Kael was surprised for a moment before a feeling of joy welled up in his heart.
He had not forgotten about the Achievement Points (AP) on his status page. It was just that he had better things on his priority list, so he hadn't had much time to ponder the reward system.
But if there was one thing Kael knew, it was that it was very hard to farm Achievement Points. How couldn't it be? When the system only rewarded AP for battles fought alone. And even then, the opponent had to be, a minimum of ten levels higher, not to mention that the system didn't count the external use of items like firearms. At least, one's personal might had to have contributed a greater portion in the kill.
What did that mean?
Kael knew it was highly improbable for Alice to have increased her class rank using the AP system. But that was okay. He also had his secrets, and he was happy to find his companions were unique in their own ways.
Alice raised a brow when she saw the many emotions that flickered across Kael's face for a moment. In the end though, she didn't say anything.
Kael noticed that aside from the air of maturity that now surrounded her, Alice didn't seem to have changed much.
Aside from becoming exceptionally beautiful, that is.
- Shing!
A cry that sounded as if a sharp sword had been swiftly pulled from its sheath suddenly resounded. The sound was quite low, but to Kael, who had monstrous senses, it might as well have sounded directly beside his ears.
Kael's eyes fell on the katana resting at Alice's side, and he couldn't help but widen them further when he noticed the sword trembling visibly.
- Shing!
- Shing!
- Shing!
"What is going on?" Kael gazed back at Alice with intrigue.
A small smile tugged at the edges of her lips. Though she tried to restrain it, she clearly failed in the end.
"She said, 'What do you think you are looking at, punk?"'
Kael's brows twitched, his eyes falling back on the katana
"So, is it alive or something?"
Hearing the word "it," the katana shook so greatly it seemed it would fly out of its sheath. But when Alice's hand quietly fell upon the hilt, its trembling ceased.
Kael noticed the hardened calluses that had formed on Alice's palm and fingers when she raised her hand.
Two pools of beautiful amethyst watched Kael quietly.
"It is an effect of one of my titles."
"Really?"
Kael was truly shocked this time. Only now did he realize titles could grant their wielders unique abilities, making battles far more unpredictable.
Looking at all the other swords on her, he couldn't help but ask,
"Are the others also..."
He didn't finish his sentence, but Alice understood his meaning.
She gently shook her head.
"Only Kira has awakened her spirit."
- Shing!
Alice suddenly drew the katana, and against the sword's clear protest, she handed it to Kael.
"Here, you can hold her."
Kael hesitated for a moment before stretching out his hand and taking the sword.
Both their hands touched for a brief moment, Kael quietly shelving the feeling he experienced.
Kira turned calm the instant Kael touched her, and before Kael could react, a system message flashed before him.
__________
Name: Kira
Rank: Legendary
Type: Soulbound
Description: One of the three swords belonging to Sword Saint Alice.
Abilities:
• Grants its wielder mastery over the sword art: Heaven's Flash Draw Style
• Agility +200%.
• Slashing damage +100%.
__________
'Bloody hell!'
Kael almost yelled when he saw the katana was actually a Soulbound Weapon.
Such weapons could not be easily touched or wielded by another. He had felt a deep, soul-piercing pain when he had held his sister's sniper rifle, though for some weird reason, after he let go, the pain hadn't lingered for long.
Still, it was supposed to be impossible for someone else to grasp a Soulbound item.
Kael's eyes snapped up.
"How?"
Alice merely smiled without offering any response.
- Shing!
Hand me back already, you shameless pervert. Or do you enjoy fondling another woman's body so much?
Kael's lips twitched when he received the transmitted message, and hearing Alice snort, he couldn't help but give a wry smile.
'I have never seen her laugh before.'
He thought before quietly admiring Kira's stats.
'Indeed, the First Order is something else entirely...'
Just the 200% boost to Alice's speed was something he couldn't match unless he used his Energi directly, and he would have to sacrifice a huge amount, which wasn't feasible in battle.
'Not to mention the 100% boost to slashing attacks. And yet, I have this feeling that what is truly formidable about this sword is the sword style it grants... Indeed, it is worthy of being Legendary.'
'And this is only one of her three swords. Sure enough... she's scary.'
'Let's never get on her bad side.'
Nodding, Kael allowed himself to focus on what the katana had been transmitting to him. With Jinx by his side, he had already started learning how to tune out unnecessary distractions, as even now the little snake was trying her hardest to steal his attention.
But what he didn't expect was what he would hear once he truly listened.
...I'm telling you, enough with this "just friends" nonsense. I can spot a pervert the moment I see one, and I know for a fact you copped a generous feel while hugging her.
Just remember this.
My favorite thing to cut...
...is sausages.
Hey! Are you listening to me?
When I say sausages, I mean...
Kael's face turned green, and he quickly handed the sword back to Alice.
Gazing intently at the former's stoic face, he couldn't help but wonder,
'Didnt she hear what Kira said? But that would actually make sense. She wasn't in contact with her sword, after all. I must have made a mistake before.'
Kael quietly hoped that was the case.
At the same time, he couldn't help but wonder what kind of things the perverted sword fed its master on a daily basis.
'Maybe Jinx isn't so bad.'
Kael's body suddenly shook as he giggled like an idiot. At that moment, Jinx had sneakily breathed against the side of his neck, tickling him greatly.
He was just about to curse the little snake when he registered how he had just acted.
Sure enough, the room was pin-drop silent.
Lifting his head, Kael saw everyone looking at him with bewildered, strange, or speechless expressions.
'Bloody hell.'
