CHAPTER 110: AWAKENING OF MADNESS!
Rachel found herself within another space. Her hollow eyes looked around to observe her surroundings, and what she saw sent so much fear down her spine and chilled her heart that her survival instinct was instantly stoked.
She was on a mountain formed from skulls, and from her height, about a mile into the skies, all she could see was a sea of skulls.
Above her was a bleak red sky that painted the world in its shade. The combination of both sights, the crimson sky and endless sea of skulls, was like a scene pulled out of a nightmare.
"No... no..." Her words started as a whisper before devolving into full-blown screams.
"No! I don't want the blessings anymore! Take me out of here!"
She took a step back, yet the crunching sounds of the skulls beneath her rooted her on the spot.
Rachel held her breath in terror, a drop of sweat falling from her forehead and into her right eye. But she didn't dare to shut it.
And as if her screams had awakened something, Rachel heard the sound of something slithering.
Her head quickly snapped behind her, her eyes instantly falling on the culprit.
There, a few feet from her on the ground, a small worm crawled out of one of the skull's empty eye sockets, its many eyes fixed on her. Despite the worm being only five centimeters long, the sound it made was like a massive serpent weaving through mountains.
But it wasn't the sound that truly froze Rachel.
No.
It was its appearance.
The front end of the worm was a mouth that kept opening and closing, but the rest of its body was covered with little eyes, crimson eyes that locked onto her.
Rachel wanted to scream, but her mouth refused to open.
She wanted to retreat, but her legs wouldn't budge.
She wanted to cry, but even her eyelashes didn't flinch.
She could only stand there staring as the worm reached her leg and crept up her body.
How could she describe the sensation she felt as it moved across her figure?
She felt like her body was being defiled, like she was being violated down to her very soul!
Yet, she could only stand there, waiting, not even allowed the chance to tear at her own flesh or scream until her throat bled.
The worm reached her shoulders, inched up her neck, and finally arrived beside the opening of her right ear.
Only then did it stop.
Rachel trembled.
No.
Her spirit trembled.
Her heart shook.
And her soul shivered.
'No, no, no, no...' she screamed in her mind. 'I will do anything, anything! Just not this. Please stop! I beg you, stop!'
As if uncaring for her words, or perhaps it hadn't even heard her, the worm suddenly jumped into action, slithering into her ear.
"AAAAARGH!"
A heart-wrenching scream tore into the skies, echoing throughout the world of skulls.
Rachel fell to the ground, her figure contorting into strange shapes, with chill-inducing cracking sounds filling the area.
Madness!
She felt like she was going mad!
She could feel something slimy slithering inside her head and defiling her in ways she couldn't even begin to understand anymore.
So, her mind simply cracked at the edges, her subconscious driving her toward madness in a desperate act of self-preservation.
Yet, something welled up within her, something she knew she possessed but had never been able to access.
Her opened eyes erupted into a furious white blaze as her Will worked to hold her together.
"AAAAARGH!"
Pulled back from her descent into madness, Rachel had no choice but to feel the full brunt of the unimaginable pain and defilement.
No matter how she screamed, her mind held strong under the influence of her unique Will.
Crack.
Heal.
Crack.
Heal.
This was what Rachel's mind registered as she twisted across the skeletal ground.
And as if satisfied that she had been able to hold on until now, the sound of slithering suddenly filled the world, swallowing Rachel's screams.
One after another, countless worms emerged from the empty eye sockets of the endless skulls until the mountain itself seemed to come alive with writhing bodies.
Their target?
Rachel.
