CHAPTER 46: THE PRINCIPAL’S MIGHT
Elena briefly studied their little group of four. Despite saying there would only be three in their group, the principal had still brought a child, a boy who seemed to be in middle school with him. The sight baffled her and it was clear even Daniel shared her reaction, from the look of confusion on his face. The boys hair was disheveled and his eyes were sunken. Even without a day of sleep, his condition shouldn't be so bad.
Yet neither of them questioned the principal. Elena, unwilling to talk to a male, and Daniel, still angry with how the situation had turned out.
They moved swiftly and quietly, as they stuck to the walls, their eyes vigilantly studying their surroundings.
Blood marred the ground and walls, with strewn flesh here and there. Soon, they reached the ground floor, their eyes transfixed on the ruin left of the school.
"What is going on, where are the corpses?" Principal Martin couldn't help but question as he studied the perimeter. With how massive the battle had been the last night, shouldn't there be corpses---or at the very least, bones--- left on the battle field? After all, while they had not seen what happened with their own eyes, from the chaotic sound of battle, they had been able to determine that there must have been three parties involved.
Elena's jaws tightened, her golden eyes shining with a grave light. She was the first to realize what was going on, but it didn't take the Principal and Daniel much later to arrive at the same conclusion.
Suddenly, the boy beside the principal trembled greatly, prompting the gentle old man to focus his attention on him.
"What is it Nathaniel? Do you see something?"
Fear was visible on the boy's face, but he still shook his head, prompting the old man to crease his brows.
'That is odd. He only reacts like that when he sees a vision.'
He couldn't dwell too much on the matter considering they were in the open. And with the conjecture he just drew, he wasn't willing to take the risk of remaining so.
He turned to Daniel and Elena, as he quickly spoke, "Stick closer to me. I'm about to use my ability. Make sure you don't resist."
He didn't wait for them to react as he quickly roused his mana, before executing his main class skill, not before adding:
"Oh, and don't shout!"
Elena's cold eyes widened slightly, 'What the hell is he tal...' she couldn't finish that thought as the ground beneath her gave way. No, it wasn't that it gave way... instead, a portal appeared directly beneath the group, it's circular edges glowing with a purple light. The portal swallowed them, and if it wasn't for the principals warning, Elena realized she really might have shouted in panic. This was only the second day of the apocalypse, so they weren't quite used to these fantasy like abilities they could now wield.
Ten meters way from their location, and in the clear open, as the shrubberies and any other form of obstacles had long been destroyed by the last battle, a purple portal appeared in mid air, from which Principal Martin and the others descended from.
'What?' Elena's eyes widened a bit in panic as she saw the height from which they were falling from. Even with their enhanced stats, falling from a height of ten meters would still prove fatal to them, especially to her who had such weak physical stats. She almost subconsciously pulled on her telekinesis. She wasn't sure if her talent was powerful enough to withstand her weight, but she was also unwilling to just die like that.
Daniel's reaction wasn't so different. His face was pale and his arms flailed around. If it wasn't because the principal's words still resounded in his mind, and he could still hold the grip on his emotions---though barely---he would have long screamed at the top of his lungs.
Principal Martin held the middle schooler tightly as he looked at the others falling with him.
"Hold on!"
His eyes locked with Elena's and when he saw the murderous light shining within the depth of those golden pools, he couldn't help but chuckle.
'Children nowadays are so impatient...'
Even while thinking so, he still activated his class skill. He could only use the ability consecutively for three times before a cool down is applied.
Another portal formed on the half-destroyed paved ground, just in time to swallow the group once again.
Finally, the portal flashed a short distance in the air directly in the corridor, before the door of the great hall.
"Quick, we need to move." He voiced out quickly, as he tried to open the doors only to find it was shut tightly. The others were still trying to orient themselves from the effect of the teleportation while the middle schooler even looked like he was about to vomit his intestines, his face ghastly pale. But when Elena and Daniel saw how pressed the old man was, they quickly recollect themselves and jumped into action.
They really couldn't afford to draw the attention of any of those horrors.
Daniel knocked on the door lightly even as the principal tried to force it open.
"Hello, is anyone there?"
- BAM! -BAM!
He was just about to knock once more, when Elena voiced out.
"No need. There are people hiding within the hall. But they are too scared to move." She could hear the erratic sounds of many beating heart, and could guess their intentions.
Principal Martin's eyes widened slightly. He quickly moved to the sides of the window, before forcing one open, prompting sounds of yelps to resound from within. But he didn't care. He quickly focused his eye sight, and looked inside the gloomy hall, before casting his skill once again.
With a flash of purple light, the group disappeared from the outside. On the highest floor of the main building, a pair of eerie blue eyes watched as the small group of humans disappeared from its view, its mouths parting to release what seemed like laughter yet sounded so wrong enough to send a chill down the spine of any sentient being.
Lurking behind it were elite undead, each groveling on the ground, without daring to make a sound.
