CHAPTER 41: SYSTEM REWARDS II
Rose didn’t hesitate.
A soft shimmer of light gathered above her head, threads of pale gold weaving together in delicate strands before solidifying into form. In the next moment, a crown settled gently onto her head.
It was small, far smaller than the grand crowns of kings and queens, but there was nothing ordinary about it. Crafted from a pale silver-gold alloy, the crown curved elegantly around her head, its surface etched with faint, flowing patterns that seemed almost alive. Two slender prongs rose slightly higher than the rest, framing her forehead like a quiet declaration of authority. At its center, a faintly glowing gem pulsed with a soft, steady light, as though it possessed a heartbeat of its own.
For a moment, no one spoke.
Then...
One by one, the others followed.
Sophia was next.
A ripple of light coiled around her hand before condensing into a slender staff. It was about half her height, crafted from smooth, ivory-white wood that gleamed faintly under the dim light. The handle was wrapped in thin strands of silver thread, while the top flared slightly outward, holding a small crystal that glowed with a gentle blue hue. The light within it swirled lazily, like a calm pool of water disturbed by an unseen breeze.
She held it awkwardly at first, clearly not used to such a weapon, but the faint glow reflected in her eyes betrayed her fascination.
Nathan let out a low breath as his turn came.
Light gathered around his legs, wrapping tightly before dispersing to reveal a pair of boots. They were dark, almost black, with faint streaks of deep green running along the sides like veins. The material looked rugged yet flexible, hugging his feet perfectly. When he shifted slightly, the boots responded as though alive.
Nathan tested his footing, his eyes widening slightly at how natural it felt.
Claire raised her hand next.
A thin band of light circled her wrist before forming into a bracelet. It was simple at first glance—sleek, metallic, and unadorned—but a closer look revealed faint engravings running along its surface. Tiny symbols, almost like ancient script, pulsed softly with a muted glow. The bracelet fit snugly around her wrist, and for a brief moment, her eyes flickered with surprise, as though she felt something shift within her.
Then came Alice.
Unlike the others, her summoning was quiet—almost too quiet.
A faint glimmer appeared on her finger, so subtle it could have been missed if one wasn’t paying attention. When the light faded, a ring rested there, perfectly fitted. It was a deep obsidian black, smooth and polished, with a thin line of violet running through its center. The line pulsed faintly, like a hidden current beneath still water.
Alice didn’t react.
She simply stared at it for a second before lowering her hand, her expression as unreadable as ever.
Silence lingered in the room for a brief moment, broken only by the soft hum of energy still fading from their newly acquired items.
Everyone had received something. Kael couldn't help but wish for the rare zombie to appear once again. Not only had it allowed them a tremendous growth, it also gave them the opportunity to receive such powerful items and potions.
After a short while, Kael understood that each of the items they received where graded just like his spatial ring, which description he was yet to check.
Only Rose and Alice had received elite items—the difference was obvious even without checking. The faint pressure their items emitted… it wasn’t the same. The elite items granted +3 points each to two stats when equipped. The others only received rare ones, granting +2 to only one stat. Rose's crown boosted her mind and mana. Sophia and Claire boosted mana, while Nathan's boots strengthened his speed. As for Alice, her ring boosted her strength and speed.
After getting a feel for how each rank of item worked, everyone turned to Kael, a light of eagerness flashing in their eyes. They wanted to know what he received, after all the great feats he achieved.
Kael smiled at their actions, as he almost felt tempted to tease them. Shaking his head lightly, he took a deep breath and finally summoned his status screen.

The first thing Kael noticed was his experience points. Just from facing that level 16 Rare zombie, he had acquired over seven hundred exp points, causing his eyes to widen in surprise. He had simply killed the tides of smaller leeches in an attempt to reach the main body, but after seeing the result, Kael wished the undead could appear again. Despite only receiving a tenth of their exp, he had still had such an enormous hurl. But when he remembered how close he had brushed death when the gigantic worm had appeared...
'I take it back. The monster can stay dead.'
He eyes moved further down his status screen, the thought of him having leveled up yet his Energi reserve unfilled cementing his wish of not meeting that monster ever again.
'I should distribute the stats points later, but...' His eyes hardened when it fell on his talent section. He noticed the text beside it had changed from requirements not met to only one requirements met. Kael could still vividly remember how that had come about.
'So drinking the blood of that undead is one of the requirements? '
'If that is the case, what are the others? Don't tell me I have to eat it's flesh too? What kind of nonsense talent is that?' His body shivered, as he felt goosebumps spread across his skin.
'No need thinking about it for now.' he swiftly moved on, unwilling to spend more time on that topic but when his eyes saw the law Comprehension section, the glow within their depths couldn't help but dim.
Kael couldn't help but wonder how much stronger he would have been had he chosen class 1. Even with all the advantages his class gave him, ENERGI, more stats points, and powerful class skills, not to forget the formidable yet elusive Combat Trance, he couldn't help but feel that there should be more to his class. More abilities it should grant. After all, it was of the highest rank, one the system didn't seem to deign the public knowing.
His heart twisted within his chest, and a look of regret marred his features, making the others who were studying him wonder. They couldn't help but think if the items he received were not up to par.
Sensing the change in the atmosphere of the room, Kael quickly collected himself as he continued.
'Ignition mantle must not have been shown directly, as it's one of the skill upgrade under ignition fist.' he focused on the skill to confirm his thoughts, and was proven correct as more information including the upgraded skill appeared before him. He shove them away, and his eyes fell on his achievement points.
'Haa...so it really didn't grant me achievement points. I only received +4 AP, and that must have been because of the two undead I had killed by myself with the mage zombie I gave Rose.'
He felt a bit disgruntled of all the ACHIEVEMENT POINTS he had missed, but when he saw he only had one item present in his inventory space, Kael's heart almost stopped beating.
'What the hell?'
Pools of sweat formed on his face, and his breath almost hitched.
'C-calm down! Calm down! Let's confirm first...' even after telling himself to calm down, Kael still ended up gritting his teeth as he used his intentions to connect with his inventory space, even as he felt his sister and Sophia's grip tighten on his body in worry.
But when his senses connected with his space ring, which was the only item in his inventory space, a stunned look appeared on his face, before a resounding laughter escaped his lips.
"HAHAHA!"
