Chapter Ten: Demoness and Killing

The first thing that Neia saw when they entered the room was fires. There was a rather cliche looking demon woman standing by a flaming hole in the wall, with Calvaria standing with her arms crossed in front of her. Neia’s eyes then went to the paladin caption, Remedios Custodio.

She seemed annoyed to say the least. Neia didn’t quit like the look on her face. She stood in front of the Holy Queen, her sword drawn and ready for a fight. Yet, that never came. Prince Caspond, as he was in the room standing by Priestess Kelart, stood up and began to speak with the demoness.

“Lady Lilael, may I ask why you are here?” he asked, and she turned to look at him, and was about to speak, yet Remedios spoke instead.

“What are you calling that beast, Lady for?” she asked with a sneer, “She’s a demon. We should simply kill her here and now.”

“True enough,” Calvaria said, tapping her chin.

The Demon hummed, and smirked. She then tilted her hips, and giggled. Calvaria seemed weirded out for one reason or another. She spoke, her tone was professional, as if she hadn’t just destroyed a wall behind her.

“Now, I come with words to speak, and a proposal to make. We need not be so lack-a-daisical about this whole thing,” the demon uttered.

“Then speak demoness, lest I gut you!” Remedios shouted, and leveled her sword at the thing.

“I have come here to tell you of a battle I shall make. Of a war, I'd rather continue. Momonga didn’t come here face to face as she should have. I’d say I’m surprised, but she was always the paranoid one. We shall do battle, and after I defeat, she shall come and I shall defeat her, or she shall defeat me as was always foretold,” she said, and darted forward, fingers becoming claws in an instant.

Calvaria blocked the blow, and kicked the demon in the chest. She flew through the air, and through the hole in the wall. Neia followed though with a shot from her bow that she quickly drew and loosed on her foe. The demoness ignored this for the most part, save bow the look of realization at the bow.

“Rune-Craft!” she shouted as she fell to the earth below.

“What?” was all Neia responded with as she ran after lady Calvaria as she jumped out the window.

Lady Kelart, who had been starting to cast a spell, cast the spell, {Featherfall} on them all. Save for Lady Calvaria as she had already fallen out the hole in the wall. She seemed to be fine though. Neia jumped in after her, and fired from her bow again.

Shizu, who had been extremely silent this whole time, fired a burst from her weapon. The sound seemed to kill the air as the bullets rippled through the air. The paladin captain glared at the maid, and Shizu simply blew a very stiff, but cute raspberry at her.

Neia giggled as they all landed, and Remedios seemed to start speaking once again, but Calca stopped her with a hand on her shoulder. She then started casting all the buffing spells that she could on the woman, and Kelart did the same. Neia ignored them, Lady Calvaria was more important.

She looked around the place, and saw smoke rising from beyond the walls of the city. Neia cursed as she realized that they were being attacked from two sides, and she turned to see Shizu speak. Her tone was filled with certainty. As if she had just been told a set of plans by the goddess she served herself.

“We need to help the walls. Demi-humans are attacking the city. Lady Calvaria is here to kill the demoness. We need to help the people, the words of Lord Touch-me are clear,” she said, and Neia nodded, not really knowing who that was in truth.

Lady Remedios yelled, and ran forward into the courtyard where the battle was taking place. Neia spotted it, and her eyes widened in awe at the speeds that they were moving at. The paladin captain was barely able to keep up, but she still tried.

The space was large, round, and flat. There seemed to have been stalls around the area, like it was some form of market at one point. It was probably before the siege, now that she thought about it. Shizu tugged her on, her sight shifting to the road ahead.

As they ran through the city, Shizu seemingly grew annoyed with the speed at which they were moving, as she picked up Neia in a piggy back ride. Neia blushed at this, but ignored the good feelings that bubbled up from the contact with the cute maid, and hopped on.

“Shizu, please don’t go too fast!” Neia yelled as Shizu went too fast.

Neia watched as the city was flung behind her. She sucked in a breath as she watched the guards, soldiers, and paladins prepare the populace for another battle. This one, this one was much larger than the last. After all, only one race had tried the city before. Now there were many. At least, that was what Neia was assuming was going on.

The walls were already under siege by the time that she and Neia got there. Neia seemed to want to barf from the high speeds that they had moved at, but she held it down. Shizu watched over her, and made sure that she was fine. After she got her bearings, she along with the battle maid, made their way up to the walls.

They hadn’t even talked to anyone about helping, but the crowd of people seemed to absorb them in their mind. The men around her were speaking in terms of numbers of enemies. She listened. Neia, cheeks still covered in multiple stickers, looked over at the fields where the army was marching on them.

“Hey, wait a minute,” one of the civilians that had been conscripted said and pointed to her as they stood on the shockingly short city walls.

Shizu simply raised a brow at him, and reloaded her weapon from when she had shot the Demiurge. He was acting weird as of late. Big Sis Lupis said that he wanted more attention, and she agreed.

Solution thought he was trans at first, but that was quickly shot down. If he had been that way, then Shizu herself would have that knowledge. No, he simply wanted more attention. The demon liked praise, that was it.

“Aren’t you the maid woman from the Sorseress’s Kingdom?” he asked, and she spared a glance, and a nod at him.

This seemed to satisfy the man, and her turned to look at the field. Then, he seemed to realize something. He was either dumber, or smarter than he looked.

“Shit something bad has happened, hasn’t it?” hew asked the air around him.

“Demon duel,” was all Neia supplied him with as she interjected, and launched an arrow into the head of a enemy commander.
