Chapter 12: Times of End, part two (68)
…
Momonga sat on her throne, her back laying flush against it. The NPCs were ahead of her, kneeling on the floor as a show of deference. While she was playing as a goddess, she still didn’t feel like one. It was all rather much.
She looked upon them all, smiles on their faces. Demiurge himself was feeling rather proud. Really, he should, with how good that plan went off. She herself felt that she had been a bit lax on the power level. She had felt that she wasn’t putting out her full power.
When she had become the, “World Disaster,” she had optimized her build a lot. To the point where she could probably give Touch Me a run for his money. She sighed in her mind at the thought of one of her old friends.
“Now,” she started, earning the gazes of the NPCs that were looking at the ground, “we have several paths before us. There is a path that we have been going down. The one where we have the empire invade the tomb. Then, we have them aid us in taking E-Rantel,” she explained then pausing to look at them all.
They all looked like they knew this, yet something was off. Shalltear, like most of the time, was confused. It seemed as though she had yet to even be part of the conversation. She raised her hand and Momonga pointed to her.
“My lady, where are you going with this? Also, since when have we been planning that?” she asked, her face a picture of confusion.
“That is simple. Demiurge, since you have been a part of this plan forever, explain this to her so that she may understand it,” she indicated him with her dainty looking hand.
Demiurge simply nodded his head to her, and began to explain. It looked as though several of the NPCs at the back didn’t know the plan either, and listened in. She herself was listening in. While she had made a big plan, she was feeling like it was a bit flimsy for where they were taking it.
“It is rather simple. We have some people who like adventurers, called workers, attack the tomb on behalf of the Empire. Then after that, we repel them and ask for a favor as apologies. Finally, we take E-Rantel so we can start a nation state,” he said with a smile.
Shalltear nodded at that, satisfied with the explanation. Momonga then shifted in her seat once more, raising a hand so that everyone looked at her now. She must have looked too regal, because everyone kneeled again, and lowered their heads.
She ignored this, mostly, and began to speak. As she did so, she explained the other paths that she believed that they could take. There were many.
“There are also many other paths that we may take. There is the path that involves Calvaria. The king of Re-Estize offered a noble title and land to the character of Calvaria. If we pursue this path, then we may be able to ignore the fight with the Empire to come, to a certain extent. Of course, I rejected that title, but I believe that we could get it back,” she explained, and the NPCs nodded their heads.
Of course, they weren’t looking at her as she said this. She hadn’t bothered them to raise their heads yet. She did so, and as they raised their heads, she began to explain the third path.
“The third path is that of sneaking. We simply go on as we have, not really changing all too much as we spread our faith around the kingdom. This path would be the long and waiting game. While I am not the biggest fan of this plan, it is the safest as it is the most naturally inclined path,” she told them all.
Albedo and Demiurge nodded their heads. They seemed to be thinking through all of this. The other NPCs looked to be waiting for something. Yet that something never came.
She thought that maybe they expected her to know what path to take next. Perhaps they wanted her to form a nation all on her own? Maybe they wished for the slow and steady path of a faith’s natural progression? Perhaps they wanted to grow the faith faster, like with the second path?
There were many more ideas, and she couldn’t think of them all. In fact, she had taken a while to think up these plans. Being a goddess was rather difficult.
The NPCs waited then, the floor guardians looked somewhat nervous. It was as if her silence was suffocating them. She didn’t like it, so she spoke.
“Then, there are of course, many other plans. Of course I can’t think of them all. Since you all live in this tomb, just as I, I want you all to make plans as well. They don’t have to be really thought out plans. They simply have to have a solid idea. Albedo will collect them, just write them on a piece of paper or as a document,” she told them all, and silence reigned once more.
She got up from her throne, and announced she was going to rest. Then, she teleported away to her room, and plopped down on the large bed. She rolled around some on its surface, before looking around the room.
Once she found that one was in her room, she took off her clothes and slipped under the covers. They were soft as they could be, and warm. She sighed as she let her mind settle.
This day had been rather hectic. With all the talk of religions, goddesses, and other such things, she could barely keep her mind in the moment. She closed her eyes, and let the darkness of her room bleed into her sight. Of course, she could see perfectly well in the dark room.
Yet, when she turned off her dark vision, the room turned dark once more. it was rather nice when she was trying to sleep. As she wormed her way deeper into the sheets, she heard something.
It was footsteps. They were footsteps that she recognized. They soon pitter pattered all the way over to her bed. Then, she felt something land on her, and crawl up. She looked at this person, and locked eyes with Albedo.
“Albedo, I’m tired, no sex tonight,” she tiredly ordered, and the succubus frowned.
“I didn’t want sex, but now that you’ve mentioned it, I’m in the mood,” Albedo retorted, and Momonga groaned.
“Well, come under the covers. Sleep here with me. It’s nice and cozy,” she told her, and Albedo nodded her head and joined the woman she loved under the warm blankets.
As she went off to the side and lumbered into the bed, Momonga heard her mumble something about lips and tasting things. She didn’t care all too much. All she wanted to do, was sleep.
