Chapter 122: Devastation
The word tore from my throat not like the whisper of before but a rolling thunder that boomed into the open air and made the world itself listen and obey. Clouds gathered unnaturally overhead as the winds picked up and the formation I created on the slab activated. The sands of the desert began to get ripped up and whiped around like razors as the magic resonated with the thu'um. Within moments a violent wall of hungry sand had arose and was expanding out towards every direction. -
I had planned for this however as the moment the sandstorm touched the edge of my array of tuning forks the magic in it caused the forks to hum in the exact frequency needed to repel it. That's right I was trapping the sandstorm into the area I wanted it in and no further. The thousand elves charging towards me didn't brace for the storm thinking it was like any other Hammerfell normally had.
It wasn't.
They all found out in mere seconds this fact as the sand cut, tore and ripped at their exposed flesh. Screams of agony were drowned out by the wailing of the wind as all order died and they panicked. I cast a localized ward over my eyes as I shot forward through the stinging sand with the handle of my sword already coming out of my chest. I ran straight into this chaos and began ambushing them with a she` hai coated blade that entirely ignored their armor. By the time the ones next to my victims realized I was there I had already vanished back into the roaring maelstrom of sand and moved to a different target. I used all of my training with the thieves guild to move like a phantom through this army dismantling it one or two kills at a time.-
The storm didn't mask my kills but instead made them obvious as the blood soaked sands were picked up and flung about in it slowly clouding the area red. I was already soaked with the hot liquid as I moved through the storm. The trickiest targets were the long time veterans and the mages who didn't immediately get shredded by the sands. They had thrown up wards of their own and were slowly bringing the normal soldiers back to order as they collected them. -
Despite the panic none of the soldiers had bolted so this collection was happening faster than I was killing them. I frowned and with a wide swing of my blade with both hands unleashed a horizontal she` hai blade at the largest group. The bright attack was seen and the wards were strengthened to face it right before it crashed into the group. For a moment it looked almost like enough to stop the attack. But she` hai was not a top tier skill for nothing as with a resounding scream the wards were sheared through and the blade of energy swept through the group with no more resistance.-
"""AAAAAHHHH!"""
The collective death screams of the now bisected group were loud enough that it was heard over even the winds of this storm. They weren't immediately dead since they were mostly cut apart from below the ribs but death was coming in hot. I didn't have the luxury of making a second attempt however as the magic of the storm was rapidly waning. I never intended for this to be my victory condition however. Doing that would have required an ungodly amount of energy that I simply couldn't provide right now.-
Instead I used the cover of the storm to retreat to a large rock formation that was near the slabs location and scaled it's face to stand up high as the storm began to settled and visibility returned. As the sun touched me first I stabbed my blade into the stone below my feet and clasped my hands together before drawing them apart with a radiant white orb manifesting in the space between them. As I dumped more and more magicka in the [star of Magnus] war class spell it grew bigger and bigger to soon look like a small sun held above my head.-
The roughly half the army still alive all saw this sight the moment the sands dropped enough and scrambled in horror towards the nearest mage as wards were thrown up at maximum strength.
"Taste the sun!" I roared as I threw my hands down and unleashed the massive dawn magic spell at them.
"THWOOOOM!"
The orb pulsated as it began it's rapid descent towards the ill prepared army below. When it struck the thrown up wards there was no loud explosion, no dramatic sound.
Just dreadful absence.
The spell hit the wards and just flat out erased them in a blinding flash of light. One moment two hundred people behind a wall of wards, the next a deep hole without even a scrap remaining. I panted hard as that spell took almost all of my magicka. I drew out a magicka restoration potion and popped the top with my thumb before downing it.
"He's spent! Forward, for the Thalmor!" A battered Altmer in heavy armor with many small cuts all over his face and bald head giving him a terrifying appearance roared.
'Of fucking course none of the army I wiped out was the commander!' I complained mentally as the potion was already doing it's work.
I grabbed my blade and leapt backwards off the rock formation and into the narrow stone path the army would have to funnel through to get me.
'Roughly two hundred and fiftyish left. Time to reveal it all.' I thought almost reluctantly as I held my blade at the ready as the remaining army started rushing into the narrow path three across.
I had already wiped out the mages so all that was left was the normal soldiers. They were well trained and the first three moved not to immediately attack me but to try and slip behind me so the ones behind them could set up omnidirectional suppression. I denied them with a back step thrust of my blade into the throat of the one in the lead opening distance while also stalling the other two a step. Once they realized that wouldn't work they charged me head on. I inhaled like a bellows filling my lungs with air before shouting at them and the entrance to this path.
"YOL TOOR SHUL(Fire, Inferno, Sun)!"
