Chapter 348: The Reckless Floor Boss
A blurry white shadow was climbing the roaring currents of the waterfall, moving upward in a posture that completely defied logic.
"Watch out!"
Robin's warning sounded sharp and urgent.
Before her voice faded, the white shadow that had climbed to the top of the Great Fall used its massive water dragon body—a body that had no business flying—to leap out from the peak of the waterfall, vaulting toward the ceiling of the vast cavern.
Sound vanished.
Without warning, every sound in the world was stripped away in that instant.
The deafening roar of the waterfall, the shrieks of the monsters, the shouts of companions, the crackle of burning flames... everything was gone.
The whole world turned into a silent pantomime.
In everyone's ears, there was only a dead silence as they watched the white shadow dancing slowly far above their heads.
As a wingless water dragon, the monster was genuinely dancing in the sky, stretching its long, elegant body as if performing a sacrificial dance dedicated to death.
That frozen time was shattered by an indescribable cracking sound echoing from the depths of the soul.
The Great Fall resumed its terrifying, thunderous chorus.
Shortly after—having completed its aerial ritual, the Amphisbaena plummeted.
The giant white dragon fell from the sky like a meteorite, smashing brutally into the center of the lake.
The shockwave arrived first.
Followed by the sound.
BOOM—
The entire Water Capital trembled violently and agonizingly from the impact.
The instantly formed tidal wave could no longer be called a wave; it was a moving wall of water that swallowed up more than half of the landmass.
"Ugh!"
Daphne, who barely managed to escape the drop zone in the nick of time, didn't even have a chance to celebrate before she was blasted away by the sweeping water wall. Before she could even let out a gasp, she was swept into the murky currents and sank.
On the shore, Robin , Hyacine , and Cassandra were ruthlessly slammed against the rock wall behind them by the irresistible wave, letting out dull thuds upon impact.
Even the Azure Flame burning on the shore and the water were swallowed and extinguished instantly by the towering, wrathful waves, like fragile bits of seaweed.
The jade-green, murky torrent overflowed like wine spilling from a massive overturned goblet, surging over the edge of the floor and roaring relentlessly down to the lower levels.
The impact was so extreme that deep, spiderweb-like fissures began to spread across the rock walls of the giant cavern.
That apocalyptic strike was clearly aimed at Aiden, who was closest to the center of the impact.
A wall of water dozens of meters high pressed down like a moving mountain range, carrying the crushing momentum of ten thousand tons.
In the face of such mighty power, Aiden's eyes remained completely unfazed.
He simply and calmly swung the Godslayer: Surtr.
A concentrated crimson slash of light flashed through the dim cavern.
The dense water wall was neatly cleaved down the middle, as if by a searing blade.
The massive wave was forcibly split in two, roaring deafeningly as it rushed past both sides of his body without so much as dampening his clothes.
In the gap where the water parted, his figure flickered. He scooped up the sinking Daphne and Jeanne, who had been swept into the murky waves, then dashed toward the shore, stepping across the still violently trembling surface of the water.
In a matter of breaths, he arrived beside Robin and Hyacine.
"Cough, cough, cough!"
Daphne sprawled on the ground, spitting out mouthfuls of swallowed lake water in a sorry state, her face pale.
Robin and the others had also been slammed against the rock wall by the massive shockwave. Though they had managed to mount a defense at the last second and avoided severe injuries, their clothes were soaked and their breathing ragged.
The entire massive cavern was a scene of utter devastation.
The water's surface rocked violently like a storm-tossed sea, endless and chaotic.
The islands that had once dotted the lake were now reduced to floating debris.
The sight, so starkly different from the battlefield of just moments ago, was almost too horrible to look at.
The meteor-like impact had caused dense cracks to spiderweb across the surrounding walls of the grand cavern.
The Dungeon's structure, already damaged by the battle, deteriorated further. Massive crystal shards peeled off from the high ceiling, falling like a shower of glittering rain and sending countless ripples across the turbulent water.
"Haa... haa... how reckless..."
Robin clutched her aching chest, panting heavily.
Just then, the two-headed giant dragon that had plunged into the lake surfaced once more, harboring boundless fury.
It didn't pause for a fraction of a second, launching its pursuit without hesitation.
The relatively intact left dragon head snapped open, and Azure Flame dragon breath, brimming with destructive aura, spewed forth like a bursting dam.
Aiden's eyes narrowed, and he swung his sword without a second thought.
A crimson flying slash tore through the air. With an even more ferocious demeanor, it tore head-on through the surging dragon breath, its momentum carrying it forward to leave a massive, bone-deep gash on the side of the dragon's face.
Before the Amphisbaena could howl in pain, two silhouettes descended from the sky.
With pinpoint precision, a foot stomped down on each of the Amphisbaena's two heads.
"Thud! Thud!"
Dull crashes were accompanied by clear, expanding shockwaves. Large patches of dragon scales shattered and splintered as the newly raised heads were once again brutally slammed down into the lake by the barbaric force.
It was Firefly and Tifa, arriving from above.
Borrowing the tremendous recoil, the light wings on Firefly's mech erupted with a dazzling stream of flames, propelling the silver knight back high into the sky in an elegant arc.
Tifa, using the force of stomping the dragon's head, executed a nimble flip in the air, landing steadily on the shore. Her fists clenched, she watched the behemoth cautiously as it was smashed into the lake once more.
At that moment, Aiden made his move from the shore.
He closed his eyes, and an incantation spilled rapidly from his lips.
"Ride Upon This Wheel of Flame—"
In an instant, crimson flames erupted from his body, wrapping him entirely.
The next second, he was no longer in human form. Transforming into a flash of fire that tore through space, he instantly appeared in the middle of the violently churning lake.
He stood steadily on the water's surface. The flames enveloping him actually pushed the lake water away, forming a dry domain.
"By This Blade's Glow I Grasp!"
As the second line of the chant fell, the Godslayer: Surtr in his hands hummed with joy. The Everlasting Flames coiled frantically upward like living spirit snakes.
