Chapter 66: League of Villains
[POV Izuku Midoriya]
"Seriously? Facepalm, I don't think that's the explosive kid. Did you even show your goons a photo of the target?"
The green-haired boy warily watched the villains surrounding him. Two days had passed since the League of Villains attacked their training camp. He'd been their captive the whole time. Gritting his teeth from the pain of wounds and torn muscles that hadn't fully healed since his fight with Muscular, Midoriya did what he'd spent years of his life doing. Analyzing heroes and villains.
"They completed their objective."
The man with the blue-gray hair and creepy hands attached to his body spoke quietly. His crazed red eyes stared at him.
Decay or destruction. Anything he touches with all five fingers of one hand can be destroyed. Fast, agile. Loses composure if the hand covering his face is knocked off.
Fear clenched the heir of All Might's insides in a death grip, but Izuku managed to distract himself with his usual analysis and memorizing his surroundings. He couldn't afford to make a mistake.
"Weren't you trying to recruit the explosive kid? Or no? I didn't really understand all that crap you were spouting. Something about personalities limited by society and comparing your actions to RPGs and strategy games."
"Mask-kun, share your blood!"
"Bloodsucker-san, there's a helpless little 'blood bag' right next to you. And it's rude to keep throwing knives at me."
"Mou. Stop calling me that stupid nickname. I want your blood. I already tasted Izu-kun."
The blonde villainess licked her lips, attacking her companion, and shivers ran down Midoriya's spine. The way she said she'd "tasted" him sounded very wrong.
Transformation into a copy of the person whose blood she drinks. Required blood volume for transformation unknown. Whether the donor's Quirk is copied unknown. Excellent knife skills. Agile. Has the skills for close-quarters stealth approaches.
"If you've dishonored him, you need to take responsibility!"
The eyes of the villainess and the "dishonored" one widened in surprise.
"Oh, Himiko-chan, that's so brave!"
Said... a muscular figure with pouty lips and black glasses, named Magne. The gender of this villain/villainess had completely thrown the boy off balance the first time around.
Magnetism or gravity manipulation. Estimated range 4-5 meters. Could... block the attack of Tiger, a professional hero specializing in close combat. Vicious.
"Well, Izu-kun and I haven't gotten that... Wait, don't distract me. Mask-kun, give me your blood."
"Hey, Facepalm, you're looking gloomy today. Not even using your hands."
"Hmm. Do you want to die?"
The villain with the hand on his face said, starting to scratch his neck. Izuku tried to ignore the stare directed at him.
"I know what's up with you. Hey, Gas Burner, confess. Did you bite your boss? Why's he so out of it? Where's the bloodlust, the unmotivated violence, the muttering like 'I'll kill you'? Or did he attain some kind of villainous zen?"
"Go to hell."
The black-haired boy said weakly, glancing with some hostility at the one who'd addressed him. His appearance, with some gathered folds of purple skin, gave off a repulsive feeling. Like a man who hadn't fully burned to death.
Pyromancy presumed, or another Quirk that allows reproduction of the combustion process. Calm. Adapts quickly to changing situations.
"Mask-kun, don't ignore me. Give me your blood."
"Go to your little blood bag, Izu-kun."
"Himiko, stop attacking our comrade."
A lizard-like humanoid villain stepped in front of the girl, raising his hands. His clothing closely resembled what Stain wore.
Mutation. Presumably grants certain lizard abilities. Prefers close combat using cold weapons.
"Yeah, yeah, Himiko, don't attack our comrade." / "No. Kill him. Gut him."
Said/shouted the man in the black-and-white jumpsuit.
"By the way, I'm also curious why we took the one Stain himself acknowledged?"
Spinner asked, turning his head toward the man in the yellow coat.
"The boss said to take the student who placed first in the sports festival. Preferably the explosive blond, but those kids were acting completely insane. They've got no brakes. So I grabbed whoever was handy."
The villain who'd called himself Mr. Compress during the attack spread his hands. Midoriya clenched his fists.
"HOW CAN YOU?"
The bar went quiet. Nine pairs of eyes stared at the U.A. student.
"HOW CAN YOU JOKE AND LAUGH AFTER KILLING PEOPLE? AFTER YOU TRIED TO KILL MY FRIENDS AND LOST YOUR OWN COMRADES? WHY ARE YOU DOING ALL THIS? WHAT ARE YOU MISSING?"
The green-haired boy shouted. His emerald eyes, full of anger, stared at Shigaraki. A snort broke the silence. Then it grew into full-throated laughter. Tomura Shigaraki was laughing.
"Oh no, the Boss has gone crazy." / "Oh yes, the Boss has gone crazy."
Twice slammed his fist into his palm with a joyful expression on his face, visible even under his mask. The other members of the League of Villains watched Shigaraki with interest, seeing him in a new light.
"Ha ha ha. You're just like him."
The words echoed through the bar with strange intonations. The eyes behind the hand on his face narrowed.
"You know, I've been thinking a lot about our conversation at the mall. Thinking. Thinking. Thinking..."
Petrified, Izuku watched as the villain started scratching his neck. Through the villain's quiet, unusually soft voice came the scraping sound of fingernails against red, irritated skin.
"...and I figured it out. A whole ten minutes of thinking about your words and especially about All Might was pretty annoying. I felt like I'd become like all those idiots around me, always blabbing about All Might. But I was glad after our talk. Because I finally understood what to do next. Just show everyone how fragile All Might's fake world is. And then crush him."
The villain took a step toward Midoriya. Then another.
"And I'll start by destroying this world's future. I spent two days figuring out the best way to deal with you. Crumble you to dust. Slit your throat and dump your lifeless body in front of U.A.'s gates. Tear off all your limbs and scatter them across the plazas of Japan's largest cities. Tie your body to a stone and throw you in a tank of water, streaming it live on HeroTube as you slowly die."
Feeling his insides go cold, Midoriya watched Shigaraki Tomura approach him. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the lizard-like villain's dissatisfied grimace and the ribbons around another's hand untie themselves.
"But you remind me too much of All Might. A damn living reminder of him. So I decided to keep this living reminder. I'll break your arms and legs, shatter your teeth, and turn your tongue to dust. Then I'll let you go. You'll be a silent, powerless husk of your former self, a reminder to everyone of their future. Powerless and voiceless, they'll watch us destroy their fake world."
A hand reached toward him. Time slowed for Midoriya. A charge of One For All's power ran through his body. All Might's heir knew he couldn't escape all the villains. Pain from his unhealed wounds shot through his body. Gritting his teeth, Izuku prepared to boost his body to maximum with One For All as quickly as possible, because the villains would realize he was using his Quirk as soon as the red lines appeared all over his body. Tomura's hand approached. Emerald eyes stared into crimson.
"Facepalm, I've got a better idea."
All For One's student's hand was grabbed by a hand in a glove. Everyone stared at Ticci Micc in surprise. The black mask with the red grin was turned toward the man with the blue-gray hair.
"Don't interfere."
"Listen to my idea."
A heavy weight settled on the green-haired boy's shoulders. A heavy, murderous intent filled the bar. The fingers of the villain's free hand, the one with the hand attached to his face, curled, and the crimson gleam in the eyes hidden behind the smiling mask intensified.
"Whoa, whoa. Hey, no fighting. We're all comrades here."
Spinner said with his hands raised, watching them warily but not daring to come closer. The two villains near Midoriya hadn't moved. The Class 1-A student swallowed nervously.
THUD. THUD. THUD.
Everyone looked at the door in confusion.
"PIZZA DELIVERY!"
"Whaaat?"
The shockwave and debris from the destroyed wall knocked some of the villains off their feet. A massive, muscular figure stood in the middle of the room.
"Kurogiri!"
"Port..."
"*Lacquered Prison Chains!* "
Countless branches of wood instantly crushed and restrained all the villains except for Ticci Micc, who dodged and hovered in the air. Blue lights appeared on the body of the black-haired villain with surgical staples pulling his skin together.
"Wood? You think that'll stop me..."
"There are too many of you for a handsome guy like me."
Two fast shadows flashed through the air.
"Don't rush, son."
"*Black Boots: Steel Steps.* "
The kick of a yellow boot knocked the villain unconscious, and the black-clad woman's legs, with steel discs floating around her ankles, slammed the second villain into the branches, which immediately wrapped around him.
"*YOU WON'T ESCAPE, LEAGUE OF VILLAINS! WANT TO KNOW WHY?* "
The dust settled, revealing the number one hero, next to whom stood the recently rising wood hero, Kamui. A second later, an old man in a yellow-white hero costume and a beautiful white-haired woman in a black uniform, vaguely military in style, landed beside them.
"*BECAUSE WE'RE HERE!* "
"YAY! ALL MIGHT! "
Midoriya's eyes shone with fanatical gleam. His teacher had come to save him.
