Chapter 48: Flower Supreme Sect Hit by Beast Tide
As the days passed, Jiang Yun had to kill several more waves of beasts, as each time they grew in size and power. The most recent wave even had a level seven beast that managed to break the defensive formation, causing Jiang Yun to quickly kill it and fix the formation.
The problem was increasing as the beast tide waves just kept coming in greater force. As Jiang Yun was waiting for the main beast tide to arrive, he received a message from the tablet he had given Su Qing.
From the fact that she had crushed the tablet, it could only mean that the Flower Supreme sect was also being hit by the beast tide now. Since the tablet was crushed, Su Qing must have encountered danger that she couldn’t handle and was requesting help.
After reinforcing the sect’s defensive barrier and killing the surrounding beasts that could cause trouble, Jiang Yun hoped that this was enough to protect the sect until he came back.
The trip shouldn’t take too long, but Jiang Yun couldn’t help but worry about unforeseen circumstances. Jiang Yun then quickly left the sect, disappearing from where he was as he rushed towards the Flower Supreme sect.
After reappearing at the Flower Supreme sect, Jiang Yun saw a massive wave of beasts numbering in the tens of thousands. The strongest in the group of beasts was at level eight; though not as strong as a Mahayana cultivator, it was made up for as there were several other beasts present at the same level.
Jiang Yun then looked towards the Flower Supreme sect, which was suffering greatly as so many beasts constantly invaded. Inside the sect, there was only one Mahayana realm cultivator who was the sect leader Jiang Yun had seen before.
Jiang Yun could only assume the rest of the Mahayana realm elders had died. Jiang Yun was unsure if it was due to beasts or when the demonic cultivators attacked. Next to the sect leader was Su Qing, who was supporting the sect leader from the side as she was defending against several beasts herself.
Su Qing had an exhausted look on her face as she had probably been defending against beasts for a long time before calling for help. The sect was swarming with beasts at this point, and the front line could give out at any time.
The group of level eight beasts haven’t even joined in the battle yet, as they are just watching from the back with unknown purpose. If they had joined, the Flower Supreme sect would have long fallen.
At this point, cultivators were still dying en masse trying to hold off the tens of thousands of beasts. If it weren’t for the sect leader being a Mahayana level cultivator as well as Su Qing, who was a Half Mahayana realm, the sect wouldn’t even have lasted this long even though the level eight beasts haven’t joined in yet.
Jiang Yun then thought about how the Flower Supreme sect might be better off than other sects, as they still had a Mahayana cultivator after the demonic sects attacked. Most other sects were reduced to around the level of a Nascent Soul cultivator, which is now at the mercy to even something as minor as this beast tide wave.
The Flower Supreme sect though has the sect leader and Su Qing, while the rest were indeed only at the Nascent Soul realm or below. This sect holding on until now was simply a miracle.
As Jiang Yun was observing, trying to understand the situation, the deadlock suddenly broke as one of the main defenders on the Flower Supreme sect’s side had died, brutally ripped to shreds. The beasts took advantage of the gap and quickly stormed into the sect.
In a mere moment, the beasts had completely invaded the sect and have surrounded the last two powerful cultivators in the sect, seemingly trying to deal with the strongest in the group first. This proved to Jiang Yun that these beasts weren’t mindless and had some form of intelligence or commander.
With this situation occurring, Jiang Yun had a guess as to why these level eight beasts hadn’t attacked themselves. These level eight beasts probably possess intelligence and are experimenting with their tactics on the people of the Flower Supreme sect.
Jiang Yun couldn’t understand why these beasts need to learn tactics, as they usually use brute strength to deal with everything. Yet, these beasts clearly have a plan and are acting on it.
As Jiang Yun was trying to figure out this mystery, the beasts started their attack on Su Qing and the sect leader. Massive amounts of beasts attacked all out at once, overwhelming the two immediately.
Su Qing, seeing the massive horde of beasts, could do nothing to protect herself as she closed her eyes, accepting her fate. As the seconds passed and nothing happened, she wondered what was going on as the attack never came.
As she opened her eyes, she saw all of the beasts who were attacking her suddenly pressed on the ground, being crushed by some kind of force. Su Qing then wondered what was causing this situation, as beasts like these wouldn’t just suddenly stop when they had already started.
As Su Qing was immersed in her thoughts, a familiar figure suddenly appeared in front of her eyes. To her surprise, Jiang Yun had come to save her from this dire situation.
Su Qing asked, "How did you stop all these beasts? I only contacted you a short while ago, and you are already here stopping all these beasts. Just how strong have you become? This many beasts can even destroy my sect, even if we were still back at our peak power."
Jiang Yun ignored these questions, instead asking his own, "Don’t worry about all that. How are you doing now? Are you alright?"
Su Qing, who was still in a daze from the sudden changes, then started to search her own body as she was unsure herself how she was doing after fighting for so long.
After checking, she only found herself exhausted without any wounds on her body. Though at this point, her spiritual energy was about to run completely empty.
Su Qing, seeing no major problems, replied, "I am fine, just tired."
Jiang Yun nodded as he was glad that he arrived before she was injured. The two were then suddenly interrupted as the sect leader came to give his greetings.
The Flower Supreme sect leader interjected, "Thank you again, senior, for coming to save our sect. I don’t know how we will ever repay you."
Jiang Yun replied, "Don’t worry, this is only a small matter for me, so there is no need to repay."
As the Flower Supreme sect leader insisted on not owing favors, a loud roar sounded in the distance. Soon, all the level eight beasts came dropping from the sky near Jiang Yun and the others.
These beasts saw that their forces had been stopped by this new man who had appeared. This made it so they needed to get involved themselves.
The level eight beast who was in front of the others started speaking, "Who are you, human? Why are you stopping our invasion on this sect?"
Jiang Yun was surprised by how the beast could talk. He had only heard that it was possible, but had never seen a beast in person that could talk. Jiang Yun was surprised that there were things in the world even he had not seen yet.
Jiang Yun asked, "You can talk?"
The leader of the level eight alien beasts replied, "Not all of us can talk, but special cases like me can. Now, answer my question."
Jiang Yun answered, "Who I am doesn’t matter. All you need to know is that there is someone related to me in this sect, so it is under my protection. I don’t know why you beasts are rampaging, but if you stop now, I will let you go."
The level eight beast replied, "I am not scared of you, so why should I back down? Look around you. We have you surrounded, and you should be the one begging us for your life."
Jiang Yun had guessed that these beasts wouldn’t stop with just words, but wanted to see if he could end the beast tide early. As ending the beast tide with just words didn’t seem possible, it seems force is the only way.
Jiang Yun then increased his pressure and killed the surrounding beasts that had been pressed down previously. In the next moment, beasts started dying in the thousands. Soon, all the beasts other than the level eight beasts had died.
The leader of the level eight beasts said, "Since you have chosen death, then so be it."
Without waiting for further words, the other level eight beasts surrounding the leader attacked. With their strong bodies, as they were beasts, they charged their way forward, intending to flatten Jiang Yun.
Jiang Yun then directed his pressure towards the level eight beasts who were coming towards him. These level eight beasts, unable to withstand the pressure despite their strong bodies, were suddenly pressed to the ground.
Without being able to do anything to stop what happened next, all the level eight beasts who had attacked were killed under the pressure Jiang Yun emitted.
The remaining level eight alien beast realized that the human in front of him was far too strong and couldn’t kill the man by itself. The last level eight beast then let out a loud roar, intending to call for backup.
Jiang Yun had seen the beast’s intention and let it happen, as he was annoyed by not being able to deal with the beasts all together and ending it all at once. Now that a situation presented itself, why would he choose to stop it?
The level eight beast then said mockingly, "Soon my leader will come, who is a peak level nine beast. You won’t be able to escape his wrath, and I will enjoy watching you die, unable to do anything like what you did to my companions."
Jiang Yun then thought to himself, This is the exact situation that I wanted to happen.
As Jiang Yun thought this, he expectantly waited for the peak level nine beast to arrive.
