After Achieving Invincibility, I Set Out to Destroy Sects

Ignoring Jiang Yun’s bewildered stare, the woman stood with her chin high, exuding absolute confidence. She acted as if her sudden declaration—claiming Jiang Yun was her husband—was an absolute, undeniable fact.

Before Jiang Yun could fully process the shock of her words, the crowd parted. An elegant young man clad in finely tailored, luxurious silk robes began walking toward them. He carried an undeniable air of wealth and arrogance, his armed guards trailing closely behind like a menacing shadow.

The young man’s face twisted with fury at what he had just heard. Pointing a trembling finger straight at Jiang Yun’s face, he roared, "Who do you think you are? Why have you taken my fiancée as your wife? Do you have any idea what the consequences are for stealing my woman?"

Jiang Yun opened his mouth to instantly deny the claim, but the beautiful woman was faster. Stepping forward before he could get a single word out, she spoke with sharp defiance. "I have chosen my husband, and there is nothing you can do to stop me now! I have already run away from home and severed all ties with my clan. Even if you drag my body back, the political marriage between our two families is dead!"

Being cut off so abruptly left Jiang Yun thoroughly annoyed, yet he couldn't help but find amusement in the woman’s sheer cunning. It didn’t take a genius to realize he was being used as a convenient scapegoat. Still, dragging an innocent bystander into family drama without so much as a word of warning was incredibly rude. While it was unpleasant to be used this way, Jiang Yun knew these people posed no real threat to him, so he decided to quietly observe the situation unfolding around him.

Listening to his fiancée’s brazen declaration, the elegant young man’s blood boiled. His reputation was being tarnished in broad daylight, and it was an embarrassment.

His eyes narrowed and retorted. "I don’t care about your supposed marriage to this trash," the young man hissed, glaring coldly at Jiang Yun. "I will deal with him later. As for you—you have embarrassed me for the last time. You are going to be dragged back whether you like it or not, and your family will give me an explanation for this insult!"

Seeing that her little scheme had completely backfired and only escalated the danger, a flash of panic crossed the beautiful woman's eyes. Realizing she had needlessly endangered a completely innocent bystander, a pang of guilt struck her.

The young man didn't give her time to think. Turning to his guards, he commanded, "Break that man's limbs. Then, seize the woman."

Realizing that talking her way out of this was no longer an option she searched for an escape route. She then looked at Jiang Yun with a deeply apologetic expression, she whispered urgently, "I’m so sorry for dragging you into this mess. Hurry, run with me!"

Before Jiang Yun could even respond, she grabbed his wrist with and bolted into the thick of the crowd. The sudden movement caught the guards off guard. Thanks to the dense mass of onlookers blocking the way, the guards were slowed down, unable to immediately give chase. Capitalizing on this, the woman navigated through the crowd, slipping out of sight and escaping to safety with Jiang Yun in tow.

After finding a safe place to stop, the woman finally let Jiang Yun go.

Exhausted, the beautiful woman explained, "I thought that this would work and he would give up after hearing I was a 'dirtied' woman, given his noble status. Unfortunately, I underestimated his character. Instead, he wanted to cause trouble for both of us, and for that, I am sorry. I’ll give you some money as compensation, so quickly leave the village. You can come back after a while when everything calms down."

The woman then took out a bag of valuable gold and handed it to Jiang Yun. She immediately prepared to turn and leave, knowing she couldn't stay in one place for long.

Unfortunately, the situation turned for the worse. Before the woman managed to leave, the guards of the elegant young man caught sight of them and began closing the distance fast. Before the woman could get far, she was grabbed by the pursuit and brought right back before Jiang Yun, who was still standing there casually watching the show.

One of the guards sneered, "Count yourself unlucky today for offending the young master. Take this as a lesson to be careful who you get involved with in the future."

The guard then raised a fist, preparing to beat Jiang Yun up and break his limbs. But as his fist grew closer to its target, his entire body suddenly froze, completely unable to move an inch closer.

Seeing the guard who was attacking suddenly stop and go quiet, the other guards who were watching were confused at what was happening.

As the situation dragged on, one of the guards then asked, "What are you doing? Hurry up and beat that man up already and let's go back, as we don’t have all day to keep the young master waiting."

The frozen guard was still stuck in place, not moving. He couldn’t get a word out as he too was confused as to why he couldn’t continue his attack or why he couldn’t speak.

The other guards, unable to wait any longer, then came forward to do it themselves.

Then, one by one, all the guards started to freeze in place, unable to continue forward.

When all the guards were frozen and had stopped in place for a while, the beautiful woman, who was in one of the frozen guards' grasp, suddenly realized that the guards weren’t moving anymore. The beautiful woman then easily escaped from the guard's grasp, wondering what was going on.

The beautiful woman then turned to see Jiang Yun was still casually standing there, not showing any signs of fear. This made the beautiful woman realize that maybe the current situation was caused by this stranger.

She then asked Jiang Yun, "What have you done to these men? How did you make them stop moving?"

Jiang Yun, still standing at the same spot, leisurely replied, "These mortals are easy to handle for me, so there’s nothing strange about it. As for how I did it exactly, there’s no need for you to know."

The beautiful woman suddenly realized after hearing Jiang Yun’s words that he was a cultivator.

The woman then said, "Thank you for helping me, kind cultivator. Without you, I would have been taken back, and who knows what my fate would have been."

Jiang Yun’s view towards the woman finally changed for the better. This woman was willing to admit her mistakes, provide compensation for the trouble she caused, and could show appreciation. Her actions were justified, as she was desperate for a way out.

Jiang Yun then said in a friendlier tone, "This is a small matter, so you don’t need to worry about it. You can go now, as these guards are unable to move for the time being and you can leave without worrying about them. Once you leave, I'll go back to the village to continue my business."

The beautiful woman, hearing that she was suddenly allowed to go free, felt that she shouldn’t leave just yet. She thought that since cultivators could solve mortal problems so easily, if she went with this cultivator who was kind enough to help her, then in the future she won’t have to worry about getting into trouble with the elegant young man’s family who were after her right now.

She then stood there, not leaving.

Jiang Yun, seeing that the woman wasn’t leaving yet, asked, "Why aren’t you leaving? You are now allowed to leave and have regained your freedom, so what is stopping you from going?"

The beautiful woman then, in a hopeful voice, said, "I want to go with you. If I come with you, then I won’t have to worry about being captured in the future and living in fear. Please let me follow you until I am able to take care of myself."

She then lowered her head, nervous about the reply she would get. If the man in front of her refused, she would have to continue to be on the run and carefully hide her identity.

Jiang Yun, seeing how nervous the woman was about her situation, suddenly recalled a memory of when he was in a similar situation and nobody helped him. Jiang Yun in the past had to hide and run away constantly without a shred of help. Now, the woman in a similar situation was asking for help, which made Jiang Yun consider helping her.

After a short pause debating on the subject, Jiang Yun then said, "I can agree to you coming with me, but this is temporary, and you should leave when you feel like you can take care of yourself."

The woman, hearing the positive response, instantly felt a jolt of joy and expressed her gratitude, "Thank you very much, sir."

Jiang Yun then turned to where they came from and said, "Come with me to deal with that young man first, and then we’ll talk about what to do next."

The woman then followed Jiang Yun as they headed back towards the elegant young man.
