Chapter 4: Two Shark

"I can't believe it! Am I actually seeing this right now?" The guy said, Calvin, his voice barely carried over the chaos.
The shark — an absolute monster — kept tearing into the boat, ripping at the hull and scattering splinters everywhere until pieces of wood rained down around their feet.
"That's what I've been saying," the old man snapped. "Your boat is battered, nephew. Are you just going to watch?"
"Why do you look happy about this, Saedan?" The woman shot a glare at him, her jaw clenched, while the shark kept right on chewing their world apart. "If the boat goes down, how are we supposed to get back? Did you even think about that?"
Saedan just stared back, saying nothing.
Nobody else said a word. One of the younger women looked like she'd already given up.
"Everybody, pull it together. This isn't finished yet," Saedan finally said.
He was already on the move, but the chance to do anything slipped away from him.
The shark twisted, dived deep, and vanished. Just like that, it left behind nothing but a ruined hull, as if destroying their boat was nothing. Like they were nothing.
Suddenly, the ocean felt huge and hollow. The water seemed to rumble beneath them, never still.
"Where did it go?"
"I don't believe it." Calvin's words came out flat, his face impossible to read. "A living Megondagua, a creature that's survived in our world for ages, and now we run into one. The real question is… where did it come from? And is it alone?"
"So someone tell me where it went—" He looked around, searching their faces. "Are we seriously just going to stand here?"
"We don't know how many there are or where they came from," Saedan said, a hint of a smirk flickering on his lips. Never worry; not him. "But I promise you, that thing isn't by itself."
"The government will want to hear about this," said the old man, his gaze shifting to his tall, awkward companion, the guy who was supposed to help out but ended up stuck as their photographer for the trip, thanks to Saedan's nephew.
"Did you get it on video, kid?"
"I-I'm sorry, sir. The camera… it's broken. I swear, I didn't mean to—"

"What?" The woman whipped toward him. "That was my camera."
The old man let out a long, sharp breath. "This kid. That was our shot, proof. And now, nothing." He shook his head, rough disappointment in his voice. "You had one job. That footage would've changed everything."
"I-I'm really sorry."
For half a second, they all thought they'd survived the worst.
That was their mistake.
Saedan playing whistle, his breath slicing through the tense hush.
Then the world lurched.
The creature came back.
It slammed into the back of the boat—hard. The massive dorsal fin crashed into the hull, tossing them like rag dolls. The deck shook under their feet; whatever nerves they'd managed to steady shattered.
And just like that, Lisa went overboard.
The collision threw her sideways, and she hit the water before anyone could move. Her scream cut through the air, pure fear.
"Lisa!" Several voices cried out together, a chorus of panic.
But Saedan was already moving.
He dived in, no hesitation. Sliced through the water and disappeared for a few tense seconds. Then finally, he surfaced, dragging Lisa back up.
"Saedan, where are you? Don't you ever do that to me again!" She gasped, clinging to him, panic all over her face.
He pulled her close, water streaming down her cheeks.
"Why do you do this to me?" She gave his shoulder a smack. Then another.
"Do what?" He grinned.
"You scared me to death. It took you forever to come back. Where the hell were you?" She smacked him again, harder this time.
"I just dived in and got you. Maybe ease up with the complaints."
They needed to get the hell out—now.
"Let's go. I'm not dying today."
"Then swim," Saedan barked, already moving ahead in the water, cutting through with ease. "Move!"
"Saedan? Wait for me—" Lisa choked, fighting to keep up. She was barely an arm's length behind him and already close to losing it.
"Faster! Right behind us!"
"What?! You're serious—Wait!" She kicked harder, arms blurring. Her legs started to seize up.
Saedan laughed, water smashing into his face. He barely seemed to notice.
Back on the ruined boat, panic ruled.
"Hurry—hurry up!" One of the women screamed, arms flailing wildly.
"Calvin, cut the anchor—NOW!" The old man shouted. "Move the boat! We're out of time!"
"Y-yes, sir." Calm as ever, Calvin scrambled to obey.
Too late.
The boat jolted.
The bow shot up.
Something huge. A second Megondagua, even bigger than the first, hauled itself onto the boat, smashing down with impossible weight. Way heavier than anything that should be out here.
Everyone scattered. Faces twisted, eyes wide.
The boat started to go under.
"Calvin, GET OUT OF THERE!" The old man roared, half-swallowed by the sea, saltwater dragging at him.
"The size…" His voice cracked; even he couldn't believe it.
"What do we do now? Staying here means we're dead." The woman's voice broke, eyes finding Saedan's with raw panic. "The boat's gone. Saedan, say something." She stared him down, accusingly. "We never should've come. This is on you."
The old man shot his nephew a look, sharp, loaded with things unsaid.
"Why does it look bigger than before?" Caroline's voice wobbled, water streaming off her.
"Don't tell me—"
"Damn it. There are two," Saedan spat.
"What?" They all felt it, the icy dread rising, squeezing their chests tight. Eyes locked on him.
The old man glanced down, then screamed.
"Underneath us!" The shout cracked the moment open. "Everyone—get to the far end! MOVE!"
They jumped for it, just hurling themselves into the waves.
Except Calvin. He was too far.
He never saw it coming.
A massive jaw burst up from below, swallowed him whole, and vanished into the dark. One clean, brutal, final snap.
They had it wrong all along. That one — hidden, patient — had been there from the start. The second only finished what the first began.
They were surrounded.
Now there was nothing left.
What the hell were they supposed to do?
