Chapter 33: The Chain Reaction
Tony immediately stood up. He was about to yell an excuse-probably that he needed to use the restroom-when another blinding light erupted right beside him.
Suki had just transformed into her full samurai gear. She let out a heavy sigh. "I am deeply upset," she muttered, her robotic tone locking in.
Maya screamed, completely panicking, and bolted for the classroom door. But halfway there, the magical force gripped her too. Her body flashed, she shot up in height, and SMACK!
Her forehead hit the top of the door frame.
"Ow!! Dammit!!" she yelled, stumbling backward.
Tony stared at her, his jaw dropping. "Maniac Girl?!"
Maya whipped around, her face bright red and a little bit of blood dripping from her nose. "Shut it, Cupcake. Not now..."
Realizing what was about to happen to her next, Alice quickly covered her face with her hands. A split second later, her own magical light erupted, transforming her right there in the aisle.
The entire classroom was in absolute shock. A few students had already pulled out their phones and were actively recording the whole thing.
Miss Marcy stood at the front of the room, sweating bullets. She looked over at Mr. Saterfeld, desperately trying to think of an excuse to leave, but she didn't make it in time. The magic consumed her, and she transformed right behind her desk.
Mr. Saterfeld's glasses slid down his nose. "M... Miss Marcy?!"
Miss Marcy immediately grabbed her hair in a panic. "Oh no!! Everyone's seen me!! I'm ruined!! They'll see me for who I really am!!! A fraaaaaud, wahahhahahaaaaa!!!" she wailed, bursting into dramatic tears.
Mr. Saterfeld jumped to his feet, waving his hands frantically. "M... Miss Marcy, please!! Don't cry, it's okay... Uh... mathematically and scientifically speaking, this is impossible?!"
Pink walked over and gently patted Miss Marcy on the back. "Don't worry, Teach. We're all ruined together!" Tony's voice added.
Miss Marcy sniffled, looking up at Pink's frilly dress. "That... does not make me feel any better..."
Maya crossed her arms, looking away as her body twitched. "I'm... getting pulled by whatever force is calling us.
I'm gonna go..."
Suki nodded, stepping toward the exit. "As am I.
I will see myself out." She performed a perfect, formal bow all the way down to her toes, and then calmly walked out of the classroom.
Alice stepped up beside Marcy and Tony. "We should go too. They might need us."
Miss Marcy slumped her shoulders. "I'll just ruin everything like always... sniffle..."
Tony and Alice exchanged a look. "Actually," Tony said, trying to cheer her up, "you always destroy the monsters by complete accident just by existing! It's honestly pretty useful!"
Miss Marcy blinked, looking up at Pink. "Really?"
Alice and Tony both nodded quickly. Miss Marcy stood up straight, wiped her nose, and smoothed out her own frilly magical girl outfit. She held out a determined fist. "Okay... let's go then!"
She marched confidently toward the door-and immediately tripped over her own boots. "Ow!!"
Tony turned his head slowly to look at Alice. "Oh boy... remind me, how do we survive these battles again?"
