Chapter 30: Shared Secrets
Thankfully, the bus finally arrived at the school. But as Tony tried to step out into the aisle, Maya darted right in front of him. She stood there, blocking his path with a smug smirk for a solid two seconds, before finally trotting off into the school.
Tony just let out a heavy sigh. "She's not going to stop, is she..."
Suki shook her head solemnly as they started moving. "No. Unfortunately, she has always been incredibly stubborn."
They got off the bus and walked into the building. As they passed the first row of lockers, Tony spotted Alice and smiled. Suki, walking right beside him, offered a rare smile of her own.
Alice saw them, brightened up, grabbed her books, and hurried over. "Tony! Suki! Good morning!!"
As she joined them, quite a few students stopped and stared at the trio. It wasn't because they suspected anything magical was going on—it was just because the three of them had absolutely nothing in common on the surface, yet here they were, chatting like old friends.
"Good morning to you too," Suki replied. "I am happy to be meeting you both in person. You... usually see me as... well... a 'robot,' as that insufferable girl usually calls me."
Tony tilted his head, thinking it over. "Well... I've noticed that whatever happens to us when we transform... it changes us."
Suki nodded, crossing her arms. “Yes... I can't feel emotion in that form. It is a bit strange, to be honest.”
Alice nodded in agreement. "Ever since I changed into my other form yesterday. I actually feel more like myself now. Do you think our powers are tied to something?"
"Maybe... it's how we feel?" Tony suggested.
Suki held her chin, deep in thought. "It may very well be based on our emotions at the moment of transformation... but if that is the case, would that mean the forms we have currently are born from our negative ones?"
