Chapter 108: A New Fairy Tale

Levi respected Rapunzel's decision.

In the end, he decided to send her back to the tower.

Of course, the reason he could do so with confidence was that he had used Detection to examine Rapunzel's godmother—the potion witch—and discovered that her strength was only at the level of a Third-Ring Wizard. Although her Spiritual Power was greater than Levi's, the spells she had mastered were not particularly powerful.

Even if Levi ended up falling out with her, his life would not be in danger.

After all, the prince from the fairy tale was a cautionary tale. Levi had no desire to follow in his footsteps and have his eyes gouged out.

That was why he had the confidence to send Rapunzel back.

For certain reasons, Levi brought Little Red Riding Hood Emily and Miss Nightingale Odelle with him, leaving only Sky Knight Rune and Yalina—the coachwoman and chief steward—to remain in the territory and handle daily affairs.

Naturally, Yalina was very unhappy about the decision, though all she did was look at Levi with a resentful gaze.

Levi had no choice but to promise her that he would go and return as quickly as possible.

Although he was pressed for time, Levi did not transform into a Human-Faced Demon Owl and carry everyone back to the Magic Herb Garden as he had before. Riding in an alchemical carriage was even less of an option.

Instead, he chose to travel by cloud.

More precisely, he let the Cloud Territory carry them through the sky as it drifted toward the Rapunzel Magic Herb Garden.

During the journey, Levi did not need to expend any Magic Power. The Cloud Territory, formed from more than a thousand Cloud Spirits, operated on its own.

All he needed to do was provide the Cloud Spirit Composite with a direction.

It would then fly according to Levi's will and head toward the Magic Herb Garden.

Flying atop a cloud felt completely different from riding on one of Levi's transformed magical beasts.

When riding one of Levi's transformed forms, they had to cling tightly to his body, constantly worried about falling off, while the cold wind rushing toward them made it difficult even to keep their eyes open.

But flying aboard the Cloud Territory was another experience entirely.

Rapunzel, Miss Nightingale Odelle, and the wolf-eared girl Little Red Riding Hood all appeared much more relaxed.

The Cloud Territory flew with remarkable stability. There was almost no turbulence at all. Only a gentle breeze brushed against their cheeks, carrying the crisp freshness of the high sky.

Everyone stood quietly along the edge of the Cloud Territory, watching it weave through the clouds while admiring the magnificent scenery below.

Beneath the cloud layer stretched endless forests.

The woods were lush and verdant, filled with towering ancient trees whose intertwined branches and leaves blocked out the sun. From time to time, strange creatures could be seen darting through the forest—

Squirrels with membranous bone wings leaped from branch to branch.

Massive centaur-like creatures grazed in forest clearings with their heads lowered, their silver-white manes gleaming beneath the sunlight.

There were also magical foxes hidden among the bushes. Their fur was pale violet, and delicate magical runes wound around their tails. They watched their surroundings warily, completely unaware of the curious eyes observing them from above.

At the forest's edge stood several rustic wooden cabins—the homes of hunters.

Thin columns of smoke rose from the rooftops. The silhouettes of busy hunters could occasionally be seen, giving the scene a simple, unpretentious charm.

The Cloud Territory continued drifting forward.

Passing through layers of mist and cloud, it entered the territory of the Kingdom of Valeria.

The forests below gradually disappeared, replaced by winding rivers and vast stretches of reclaimed farmland.

The rivers resembled silver ribbons draped across the land.

The water was so clear that fish swimming beneath the surface could be seen. Their scales glowed faintly with golden light. Occasionally, one would leap from the water, scattering droplets that transformed into wisps of luminous mist in the air.

The fields stretched as far as the eye could see.

The ridges separating them were neat and orderly, and the land was planted with common wheat and rye.

Golden waves of grain swayed in the wind, complementing the villages visible in the distance.

Small houses dotted the villages, their roofs covered with thatch.

An ancient stone mill stood at each village entrance. Several villagers pushed the millstones as they worked, while children chased one another nearby. Their laughter drifted upward on the wind.

Along the way, they also passed several castles and manors.

The castles were built entirely from gray stone, with towering keeps that seemed to pierce the heavens.

At the tops of the towers flew the banners of their lords, each bearing a family crest—some displayed roaring lions, others soaring eagles—symbols of noble authority and glory.

Tall walls surrounded the castles.

Soldiers stood guard atop them, holding spears and bows while vigilantly watching their surroundings.

At the base of the walls lay broad moats filled with swift-moving water.

Wooden drawbridges spanned the channels, ready to be raised at any moment to repel invaders.

Near the castles stretched vast manors covered with vineyards and orchards.

Servants moved along stone roads, pushing carts laden with harvested fruit and supplies, showcasing the prosperity and order of noble estates in this era.

None of these people—not even the noble lords themselves—noticed that a pair of curious eyes was watching them from above.

Then the Cloud Territory passed over the royal capital of the Kingdom of Valeria.

Levi suddenly sensed that something was wrong.

A blue glow flickered within his eyes.

He detected a certain danger.

Not daring to approach any closer, he ordered the Cloud Territory to ascend higher and steadily move away from the area.

Inside a cathedral in the royal capital, an Archbishop of the Church looked up from the scriptures he had been reading, a trace of puzzlement appearing in his eyes.

A moment later, he lowered his head again and continued reading with complete focus. Faintly, the sound of sacred hymns seemed to echo around him.

Aboard the Cloud Territory, Levi frowned.

He no longer dared to fly at low altitude as he had before. Some beings possessed remarkably sharp senses.

At such heights, everything below became blurred and tiny.

The other girls could no longer make out the scenery beneath them, but someone like Levi could still see the landscape clearly.

He watched as the Cloud Territory passed over towering mountains, crossed deep valleys, and continued flying unwaveringly toward its destination.

From time to time, Levi would also discover hidden magical outposts.

Ordinary people would never notice them, but with Detection, he could see through the disguises and glimpse the truth beneath.

There were wizard cottages concealed within remote valleys, their roofs covered with black tiles and surrounded by magical runes. Various magical plants grew in front of the cottages, radiating dense magical energy.

There were ancient altars standing atop mountain peaks, built from enormous stone blocks. Ancient magical patterns were carved across their surfaces, and traces of lingering magical energy could still be seen around them.

Among the high-altitude clouds, scattered Cloud Spirits occasionally drifted past.

They resonated with the Cloud Spirits Levi had split off, emitting faint humming sounds as if greeting distant companions, though they never approached.

As time passed, the sun gradually sank toward the horizon.

Golden rays bathed the Cloud Territory, dyeing the white clouds a soft golden-red.

The surrounding clouds were edged with gold, creating a magnificent sight.

On the distant horizon, mountain ranges rose and fell in endless succession. Their peaks were covered in snow, which reflected the setting sun with a faint silver glow.

They resembled the spine of a giant, supporting this fantastical world.

"So beautiful..." Miss Nightingale Odelle couldn't help but sigh.

Rapunzel and the wolf-eared Little Red Riding Hood nodded in wholehearted agreement.

Levi smiled softly and snapped his fingers.

A table appeared out of thin air, along with several chairs and an assortment of delicious food.

The group sat down around the table and began eating.

Soon enough, night quietly descended.

The final traces of sunset vanished beyond the horizon. The pale blue sky gradually faded into a deep ink-blue, like velvet soaked in dark dye—soft and tranquil.

Before long, a bright full moon slowly rose into the sky.

Like a jade disk hanging in the heavens, it radiated gentle, cool moonlight, covering the Cloud Territory, the surrounding clouds, and the land below with a faint silver sheen.

Moonlight filtered through gaps in the clouds, forming scattered patches of light across the Cloud Territory.

They swayed gently in the breeze like fallen stars, beautiful and serene.

As the moon climbed higher, the stars gradually emerged, breaking the stillness of the night with their dazzling brilliance.

Unlike the night sky seen from the ground, the sky above the Cloud Territory was exceptionally clear.

With no dust or mist to obscure them, countless stars glittered like scattered diamonds embedded in the deep heavens.

They filled the sky as far as the eye could see, stretching from one horizon to the other, seeming almost close enough to touch.

The stars shone in many different colors.

Some were pure silver-white, some pale gold, some deep indigo, and others faint violet.

Together they formed a magnificent and fantastical celestial tapestry.

The Milky Way stretched across the sky like a brilliant ribbon.

Composed of countless tiny stars, it shimmered with a faint silver glow as it wound through the heavens like a sleeping dragon resting among the stars—silent and majestic.

"So beautiful..."

This time, it was Rapunzel who spoke.

Seated in her chair, she gazed at the breathtaking scene, her eyes filled with fascination.

The other two girls were equally captivated.

As the evening breeze brushed gently past them, all three wished this moment could last forever.

As for Levi, he sat at the edge of the Cloud Territory, a glass of wine in hand.

His legs dangled freely in the open sky as he sipped his wine.

A faint blue glow flickered within his eyes.

Out of boredom, he was using Detection to look around from high above.

Suddenly—

Levi's pupils contracted.

A swallow flying below had caught his attention.

The swallow itself was perfectly ordinary.

The tiny figure clinging to its back, however, was anything but ordinary.

Had Levi not been using Detection, he would have overlooked it completely.

Within his field of vision, the swallow and the thumb-sized little person riding on its back were clearly visible.

Levi was genuinely surprised.

He had never expected to encounter them here.

This was truly an unexpected delight.

In Levi's sight, the swallow and the thumb-sized figure riding it were talking to each other.

The swallow was just an ordinary bird, yet its eyes possessed an intelligence that did not belong to such a small animal.

The reason for that change was the thumb-sized little person riding on its back.

"So that's how it is!"
