Lover’s Nest A – A Story of the Past

愛の巣A・昔話

The story takes place way before the Ace met the Romarias. Set on Levantis Royal Academy. Here Anna and Heid take on friendship with the soon to be King and Queen of Levantis.

“Anna, wake up…” a voice was trying to wake me up, but my tired body was compelling my will to set aside the voice. The dismantling of the Adult Deer took quite a while, and the preparation for cooking took all my strength. “Please let me sleep a little bit more.” I answered in a mumble.

“We should just be thankful the dorm kitchen has as an [Automatic Flame Diffuser] or else we would have a building in ashes and a burnt girl lying here before us. Hahahaha” This voice. Yes, a voice of power and certain authority yet still held playfulness – the crowned prince of Levantis, prince Argus.

“Prince Argus those jokes are of bad taste please refrain from saying them!” The voice that chimed in was strict and yet held a motherly tone full of care – this was the orphaned girl… my dear friend and self-proclaimed older sister Eloisa.

“That aside, how should we wake up Lady Anna?” Ahhh… another familiar voice, it had a curt and knowing tone, the upper classman who would mediate between the both prince Argus and Eloisa, and the one who holds my utmost respect –Heid.

“Maybe a kiss from the prince charming will wake her up right, Heid.” A playful tone from the prince.

“Hmmm… That might be a good one.” Chimed the motherly voice of a dear friend.

“Argus, you may be the prince but I am still your senior please stop that stupid joke! That goes for you too Eloisa.” The knowing tone of a person that I have come to respect… Senior… Heid…

Ahh… this conversation sounds very nostalgic… the girl who would wake me up like a mother – Eloisa Vera Olivier, the upperclassman who would try to tease me -Arc Argus Gulvan y Elmira and the senior who would always be there to support me -Heid Alyster Romaria. I was always with these three for my first year and it was such a blessing being with them.

My name is Anna Galmot Sevelis, a [First Year Advance School] student here at the [Academy City –Levantis Royal Academy].

Now you might think that because the word ‘Royal’ is present on its name would mean only Royalty and Nobility is allowed to enroll here. Or perhaps many would think of me as royalty. However, that is not the case. To state facts, ‘Advance’, ‘Specialize’ and ‘Scholar’ schooling can only be taken here at Levantis Royal Academy.

‘Sunday School’ can be done at home or at the local church, ‘Basic School’ can be done in the town or the village where you are born, but once you go to the three higher schooling you can only come to this school built by the Royal Family, thus the word in the Levantis ‘Royal’ Academy.

My family and I are not born nobles. The town I live and love is middle town called Amarante. It used to be a renowned town with a few nobles living in it, one amongst those nobles used to bore the Amarante family name, the very name of this town. According to my grandmother, those nobles however had either fled or died. The nobles who had chosen to die here seem to have casted away their nobility and lived normal lives. Thus, the town retained its name despite having no nobles who live here.

The Seviles family is a small-time merchant who trade for basic commodities. My grandmother used to lavish me with stories about how she had met my grandfather, a hunter by trade and married to the Seviles family. With his moral aptitude and intuitive business sense, the Seviles family grew and even had the town adopted one of his ideas to care for trees and create a lumber supply for neighboring towns.

After a few years, the Seviles family caught the eyes of the king and soon after bestowed nobility upon the Seviles’ name. With the blessing from the king the Seviles Household was born and we became nobles through confirmation. As Conferred Nobles, we get to call ourselves Lord or Lady.

We could have stayed in Amarante as our domain, after all it was due to my grandfather elected as Elder here that we were conferred as nobles. But a rather unintuitive complication came our way.

It sparked due to a small misunderstanding from a viscount household who thought the Seviles family will be conferred to a domain elsewhere. As such they had chosen an Elder to care for the town who will have lost its elder due to our confirmation.

To save the name and image of the viscount, my grandfather asked the king that the Seviles Household be granted a domain somewhere in the current capital. In which the king had consented. Due to the benevolence of my grandfather, the viscount had ensured that the house where I had grown in continue to be under the Seviles name.

And with that, we moved from the small town of Amarante to current Capital Esmelas where we were given a small domain to take care of. From there was a grueling year of learning how to become nobles.

At my 15th birthday, I was then enrolled for Advance Schooling here at the Royal Academy and for the next six years (3 years Advance and 3 Years Specialize) I would be living my school life and continue my studies as conferred noble here.

At first, I thought that due to the sheer size and the busy school life, it would be too much for a small girl who got too accustomed with a small town. Thankfully, I met up with a person with an almost the same background as mime.

Her name is Eloisa Olivier an orphan from one of the outlier towns who had a good head on her shoulder but often gets into trouble because of it, although the same age, I fondly called her sister Eloisa. Right, she was to me an older sister I could rely on.

Her earnest and defiant nature had earned her eyes from the nobles, both those who saw her as and eyesore and a few who showed interest.

One day when I was going for the kitchen like usual to cook for my own meals, Eloisa caught the eyes of one of the prominent nobles currently enrolled in the academy.

“Know your place! I am the son of a Duke!” the voice resounded in the marble walled hallways of the academy. It belonged to a noble boy. He had his uniformed adorned with medals and a crest of his house.

From another person’s point of view, it looked like bullying from a noble, but it really was a confession gone wrong. Apparently, he had tried to woe my sister and said a few in appropriate things, unfortunately I was not around so was not able to hear the exact conversation. But my sister who did not like the words gave the noble a sharp slap in the cheek.

“If you apologize now, I will forgive you and I might allow you to become my mistress!” The noble boy had set a trap. Everyone knew hitting a noble – a son of a duke at that, would merit grave punishments. If Eloisa apologizes, she would agree being his concubine, if she does not, he would still have a way with her via punishment.

I wanted to help her, but as a small-time conferred count there almost nothing I could do. How would I help her? Frantically thinking how to save her, another voice echoed to the marbled walls.

“Flaunting your status to woe a girl, now that’s seemed cowardly…?”

Who would save her? Her prince charming... I mean literally the Crowned Prince of Levantis -Arc Argus Gulvan y Elmira.

“We are at the Royal Academy!” the prince, first did not look at the noble boy, instead the crowd that had gathered. After a few ticks he then directs a curt smile at him. “Our status and peerage have little weight here.”

This person is another who has been wooing my self-proclaimed sister, but unlike the son of the duke he did not flaunt his status or even mentions that he is next to becoming king. Right beside him is his constant companion, a senior on his last year of Specialize Schooling, Sir Heid von Alyster Romaria he shared the prince’s ideals of not using his status against another.

The prince who had acknowledge that he had rivals everywhere started to woe Eloisa seriously. Whenever he gets a chance, he would court her while still keeping boundaries. Thankfully, sir Heid was always beside him and telling him if he sometimes crosses a certain line.

Everything was formed from there. What started with just me and Eloisa, became four together with Prince Argus and Sir Heid.

Now, the prince was not much of a fighter, he did not even enroll in the knight’s division unlike most high-ranking nobles. In fact, it was no understatement to call him physically weak. I mean, I a girl who can carry a bucket full of water more than he can, can attest just how low his physical strength is.

However, what the prince lacked in strength he overcomes with his brilliant mind. Many believed that his reign to kinghood after the 300-year rule of the Mordredia House is somewhat Godsend to Levantis.

His brilliance became evident when he saved not just Eloisa but me. He did not try to fend those who would harm us one by one. Instead made sure that the two of us… no people who have the same circumstances like ours would be able to have a fun and peaceful school life here at the Royal Academy.

Prince Argus, with the help from sir Heid and the student council strongly enforced the edict on nobles not being able to flaunt their status while inside the campus. They went from massive campaigns to gaining supports from other nobles and eventually the creation of the student manual that the students could site when defending themselves against nobles.

That fateful day he saved her and protected the people like us became the first blossom of spring for both Argus and Eloisa. A strong-willed girl and the brilliant prince.

Their love story even gave birth to too many romance novels in the academy and while most of the Girls (both nobility and commoners alike) supported their romance, the boys especially those of Noble blood did not like the idea of the Crowned Prince intermingling with a commoner… some of them bitter that they could no longer woe for her attention though.

Unfortunately, just like any other stories out their, they were met with a seemingly impossible hurdle. A wall that they could not very will change. While there is no law that restrict the friendship of a commoner and a noble, many of the socialites had hindered the fruition of the marriage between them.

As the current king and many of people from the Dukedom of Esmelas had high expectation from him to become king, he could not also abdicate. This was a wall that could not be scaled…

Even sir Heid, and me who supported their love, thought that their relationship would be an impossible feat.

Yet with the Prince’s brilliance an act of unwavering will if you must. The prince found a loophole. If the prince can only marry a noble… then Eloisa just needed to be come one.

With the help form a Viscount house he saw a very good opportunity. He had arranged for Eloisa to be adopted by the viscount house Margott. House Margott who saw the earnest will and love of the prince for Eloisa and the prince consented.

A few more years and the two eventually got married. Soon After we had graduated our ‘Specialize Years’ he was crowned king with him by his side is his beautiful and strong-willed queen.

Life however is like a wheel. One minute you are happy and then… she… my self-proclaimed sister –Queen Eloisa Margott y Elmira passed away.
