Forbidden Women Only Empire Where NO Man Could Set Foot. [Eden’s Vault]

Chapter 18: Well, Welcome to the City

Adrazelle—known as Mother to every guardian in Eden’s Vault—appeared in the vast white-crystal chamber without a single sound or flash of light.

One moment, the space at the head of the table was empty; the next, she was there.

She stood tall and graceful, her long robes flowing like liquid moonlight over midnight-black silk. Her fabric seemed to drink in the soft glow of the floating orbs overhead, rippling gently with every tiny movement.

Her silver hair cascaded in flawless waves down her back, shimmering faintly as though threads of starlight had been woven into it.

The reaction to her presence was instant.

Every guardian in the chamber dropped to one knee in seamless unison.

Ebonara practically launched herself off Hyun-woo’s lap, her scorpion tail whipping so fast it nearly toppled a nearby chair. She hit the floor on one knee, head bowed low, eight gem-like eyes dimmed in deep respect.

Medusa, Stheno, and Euryale followed a heartbeat later.

Medusa’s snakes hissed once in nervous surprise before falling completely silent, curling tightly against her scalp like scolded children.

Stheno dropped with a quiet huff, arms already crossed even while kneeling. Euryale knelt with smooth, effortless grace, her green aura flickering softly.

Only one person stayed seated.

Hyun-woo.

He remained exactly where he was, crossing his legs and resting his hands calmly on his chest. He looked up at Mother with steady brown eyes, showing no fear in his expression but instead, just curiosity.

Mother’s gaze settled on him. It lingered for a long, thoughtful second before a tiny, amused smile curved the corner of her lips. She said nothing about his lack of kneeling.

“Rise, my children,” she said instead, her voice warm and rich, resonating gently through the chamber. “Take your seats. We have important things to discuss today.”

The guardians rose smoothly and moved to their places around the long black obsidian table.

Ebonara shot Hyun-woo a quick glance riddled with concern as she sat right beside him, her long black tail curling protectively around the leg of his chair, the venomous tip resting harmlessly against the floor.

Stheno plopped down opposite them with a dramatic sigh, arms crossed tight over her red tank top, looking mildly sulky.

Medusa sat beside Stheno, posture immaculate but eyes fixed firmly on the table, cheeks still faintly flushed from everything that had happened when she was alone with Hyun-woo.

Euryale took the seat to Mother’s right, calm and composed as always, folding her hands neatly in her lap. She seemed to have no interest in the drama—or so she pretended.

Mother settled last into the high-backed chair at the head of the table. She folded her hands gracefully, silver rings glinting under the floating lights.

Then she smiled. It was a slow, warm, almost grandmotherly smile that somehow made every guardian in the room tense up instantly.

“I watched everything,” she announced lightly.

Stheno choked on absolutely nothing.

Ebonara’s tail froze mid-curl with an audible click.

Mother's tone was teasing but full of genuine fondness. “Stheno, darling,” she said, eyes twinkling. “Still sulking because you weren’t fast enough to claim that lap?”

Stheno huffed loudly, cheeks staying stubbornly neutral, though her snakes hissed in betrayal.

“Medusa,” Mother's voice softened with amusement. “You actually let a man hug you. Willingly. And you didn’t even petrify him afterward. I’m almost proud of you.” Medusa stared harder at the table, not daring to look up.

“Ebonara,” her tone turned noticeably softer, almost tender. “Your possessiveness hasn’t changed one bit… but you’re learning to control it. And seeing you so completely love-struck…” She paused, smile warming. “I’m truly glad.”

Ebonara ducked her head, cheeks flushing a soft pink under her pale skin. “…Thank you, Mother,” she whispered.

Adrazelle remembered the day she’d found Ebonara—half-feral, broken, the last survivor of a tribe she’d destroyed in blind rage after centuries of pain and betrayal. A lost, furious brat who had somehow ended up here, in Eden’s Vault. Mother had taken her in, guided her, and watched her grow.

Mother’s gaze finally returned to Hyun-woo. He met it calmly, without flinching.

“Adrazelle,” he said, using her true, ancient name like it was the most normal thing in the world. The word was soft, sliding right past everyone else’s ears as though the name itself refused to be shared.

Mother’s smile grew wider. “Yes, Hyun-woo. I did want to talk to you.”

She leaned forward just a little, elbows resting comfortably on the dark, mirror-smooth table. Her chin settled lightly on her interlaced fingers, her eyes sharp and deeply curious.

"We established how your power awoke back when we first spoke, Hyun-woo," she said slowly. "But watching you fall through my barrier... your body didn't just resist my magic. It adapted to it. It assimilated the very laws of Eden's Vault just to keep you breathing. A system that scales infinitely with intimacy is one thing, but a power that preserve its host, despite falling into my barrier?"

She paused for a heartbeat, letting the weight of her words settle over the stunned guardians.

"Tell me, Hyun-woo. I know what triggers your growth, but what exactly are you? And more importantly... do you intend to use this expanding strength to protect what is yours, or to take whatever you desire?"

Hyun-woo didn’t even take a second to think.

“To be honest,” he said calmly, “I’m the type of person who hates responsibility.”

He leaned back a little in his chair, completely relaxed. “I just want to laze around, eat good food, watch funny things, and have fun. That’s my ideal life. But… if I end up dragging someone into my lazy world—Ebonara, or anyone else who decides they want to follow me—then yeah, I’ll probably take care of them. Keep them safe. Make sure they’re happy. That’s about it. That’s all I really want.”

Mother’s eyes narrowed just a fraction. She leaned back in her high-backed chair, the obsidian table reflecting the soft glow of the floating light orbs above them.

“You know, child,” she said slowly, voice warm but edged with dry amusement, “that has to be the shittiest, most underwhelming explanation I’ve ever heard in all my life.”

Hyun-woo didn’t flinch at hearing her speak so casually. Instead, he mirrored her relaxed posture—legs crossed, hands resting casually on the armrests, looking completely at ease.

“I know,” he said with a small, honest shrug. “But it is what it is. I mean… come on. It’s only been five days since this whole thing woke up. Bloody hell, I’ve barely figured out how to walk without accidentally bench-pressing a boulder or something. Give me a month or two of actually living with this power, and maybe I’ll have a better, less embarrassing explanation for you.”

A ripple of quiet laughter went around the table.

Stheno snorted loudly, covering her mouth with one hand. Euryale’s shoulders shook silently, and even Medusa’s snakes gave tiny, amused little flicks of their tongues.

Ebonara’s tail curled a little tighter around Hyun-woo’s chair leg.

They are laughing because they never seen anyone talk to mother like that before. On the other hand though.

Mother’s lips curved into a genuine, soft smile. “Then we may have much to discuss after all,” she murmured, almost to herself.

Her gaze swept slowly around the long table, lingering for a moment on each of her “daughters” before settling back on Hyun-woo.

“Very well,” she said, her voice sliding back into calm, quiet authority. “Let us begin properly.” She straightened slightly, silver rings glinting on her fingers as she spread her hands in a gentle, welcoming gesture.

“Hyun-woo… welcome to Eden’s Vault. Officially.”

The words hung in the air like a gentle spell. Then her smile turned mischievous again, eyes twinkling.

“And congratulations,” she added lightly. “You appear to have collected quite the interesting harem already… without even trying.”

Ebonara let out a small, indignant huff—half possessive growl, half embarrassed squeak—her tail giving an involuntary twitch that rattled the chair leg.

Medusa turned bright red, her snakes ducking completely behind her hair.

Stheno snorted again, louder this time, arms crossed and smirking like she was enjoying everyone’s discomfort.

Hyun-woo rubbed the back of his neck, cheeks going faintly pink. He looked around at the three women who had somehow ended up orbiting his life in the last few chaotic days.

“…Yeah,” he admitted quietly, voice soft but sincere. “They really are the most wonderful women I’ve ever met.”

The simple honesty in his words made the teasing atmosphere soften instantly.

Ebonara’s eight gem-eyes flickered with tiny glowing hearts.

Stheno’s smirk faded into something almost fond. Medusa peeked out from behind her hair, cheeks still flushed but eyes a little less guarded.

Euryale smiled gently, her green aura glowing just a touch brighter. She was just happy seeing her sisters happy.
