MARVEL/DC: DOCTOR IN THE MULTIVERSE

Chapter 124: Metal Rainstorm

With a single thought from Magneto, the floating instruments could become a lethal storm.

Scalpels.

Hemostats.

Bone saws.

Syringe needles.

Hundreds of sharpened pieces of steel hovered throughout the clinic lobby.

One command.

One impulse.

And they would tear Lynn apart.

Or at least that was the assumption.

"Heal my daughter."

Magneto waved a hand.

The mutants behind him immediately pushed Polaris' stretcher into the center of the room.

"Then heal me."

His voice carried no trace of pleading.

No request.

Only expectation.

Only authority.

The attitude of a man accustomed to bending the world to his will.

His gray eyes locked onto Lynn.

"If you refuse..."

The electromagnetic field intensified.

"...this clinic and everyone inside it will be reduced to scrap metal."

The atmosphere changed instantly.

The air itself seemed heavier.

The floating instruments swayed gently as invisible magnetic currents flowed through the room.

Soft metallic chimes echoed from every direction.

Like funeral bells.

Lynn remained leaning against the counter.

Both hands stayed casually inside the pockets of his white coat.

His gaze swept across the floating surgical instruments.

Then settled on Magneto.

"You destroyed my door."

His tone remained completely flat.

As though discussing a minor accounting error.

"That was a custom blast-resistant entrance."

He glanced toward the twisted remains still hanging from the doorway.

"Approximately eight hundred thousand dollars."

Lynn removed a tissue from his pocket.

Then calmly wiped a few droplets of tea from the outside of his cup.

"You have ten seconds."

Magneto frowned.

That response was unexpected.

Throughout his life he had witnessed every possible reaction.

Fear.

Hatred.

Submission.

Defiance.

Desperation.

But being given a countdown?

That was new.

"Are you threatening me?"

His voice dropped noticeably.

Lynn tossed the tissue into a nearby trash bin.

"No."

"It's a notification."

The answer was immediate.

"If you don't put my equipment down within ten seconds..."

His gaze moved toward the floating scalpels.

"...I'll throw you and everyone you brought out of my clinic."

Silence.

Magneto's expression hardened.

His attention briefly shifted toward Polaris.

Then back toward Lynn.

The doctor seemed entirely unconcerned.

In fact, he looked more irritated by the state of the floor.

Lynn sighed.

"It was waxed yesterday."

Magneto's patience began evaporating.

"I will not repeat myself."

Three scalpels drifted forward.

Five centimeters.

The sharpened tips stopped mere inches from Lynn's chest.

"Treat my daughter."

"Treat me."

"Or—"

Lynn interrupted him.

"Or what?"

He slowly removed his glasses.

Polished the lenses.

Then replaced them.

The gesture somehow felt more insulting than open mockery.

"You're going to stab me with my own surgical instruments?"

Magneto's eyes narrowed.

"A smart man recognizes when resistance is pointless."

Lynn adjusted his glasses.

"I agree."

The answer surprised everyone.

Then he continued.

"Which is why I strongly recommend that you stop."

His eyes met Magneto's.

"Before I become annoyed."

Something twitched at the corner of Magneto's mouth.

For more than seventy years, he had survived wars.

Genocide.

Concentration camps.

Countless battles against humanity.

He had buried friends.

Lost family.

Faced governments.

Faced armies.

Faced entire superhero teams.

And now a doctor in a white coat was warning him about property damage.

Enough.

"You have chosen poorly."

His voice became ice.

Magneto clenched his hand.

Everything moved at once.

Hundreds of metal instruments accelerated simultaneously.

Not thrown.

Launched.

The surrounding magnetic field transformed each piece of steel into a high-velocity projectile.

Scalpels screamed through the air.

Bone saws spun like circular blades.

Hemostats became metallic bullets.

A storm of steel erupted throughout the clinic.

The attack was precise.

Controlled.

Magneto intentionally avoided lethal targets.

He still needed the doctor alive.

Destroying Lynn's legs would be sufficient.

Pain usually encouraged cooperation.

The metallic storm struck.

Then a strange sound echoed through the room.

Clang.

Clang.

Clang-clang-clang-clang—

Metal striking something impossibly hard.

The noise merged into a continuous cascade of impacts.

Then silence.

Magneto froze.

Every projectile had shattered.

Not deflected.

Not redirected.

Shattered.

The blades fragmented instantly upon impact.

Broken steel rained onto the floor.

A faint purple-black glow briefly flashed across Lynn's skin.

Then disappeared.

Vibranium Resonance.

Absolute kinetic absorption.

Every bit of momentum carried by the incoming projectiles vanished the moment they touched him.

The steel simply couldn't survive the collision.

Lynn's body was stronger than the instruments.

The instruments lost.

Completely.

Lynn glanced down.

His white coat remained pristine.

No tears.

No cuts.

Not even a wrinkle.

Then he looked back at Magneto.

"Finished?"

The clinic fell silent.

The Brotherhood members stood motionless.

They had witnessed Magneto dismantle armored vehicles.

Destroy military convoys.

Tear apart Sentinels.

Yet his attack hadn't even damaged a lab coat.

For the first time, uncertainty appeared in several mutants' eyes.

Magneto's pupils contracted.

An unfamiliar sensation surfaced.

Ineffectiveness.

He disliked it immediately.

But he was Magneto.

Failure merely meant changing tactics.

If external metal couldn't work—

Internal metal would.

His fingers shifted.

The magnetic field changed direction.

Human blood contained iron.

Tiny quantities.

Yet more than enough for Magneto.

He had weaponized blood iron before.

In the comics, he had manipulated metallic substances within living bodies and even extracted iron from victims under favorable conditions.

The magnetic field surged inward.

Past skin.

Past muscle.

Toward Lynn's circulatory system.

Then—

Nothing.

Magneto's expression changed again.

The field entered Lynn's body.

And vanished.

Not blocked.

Not reflected.

Absorbed.

Swallowed.

The Immortal Divine Body's internal electromagnetic environment functioned as a perfectly stable closed system.

Every cell resembled a miniature power plant.

Every biological process existed within a self-regulating electromagnetic framework.

Magneto's intrusion achieved nothing.

Attempting to disrupt it was like trying to drain an ocean with a single breath.

The magnetic force simply disappeared.

Consumed.

Neutralized.

Ignored.

A faint tremor passed through Magneto's hands.

He was approaching his current output limit.

Age had taken its toll.

The All-Seeing Eye already knew that.

Meanwhile, Lynn casually checked his watch.

Then looked up.

"Nine seconds."

The words landed heavily.

Magneto's jaw tightened.

His throat moved slightly.

Lynn raised one finger.

"One second remains."
