Chapter 242 : He Can Really Kill You Easily, No Joking
Riku knew that Yugito didn’t believe them, but he didn’t care.
In truth, he wasn’t entirely certain if Yin-Yang Release could seal the spirit either.
Looking at the two kunoichi, Riku asked, "Have you ever heard of the Akatsuki?"
Yugito, who had been staring at the capital, frowned slightly. "I’ve heard of them. Isn’t it an organization made up of rogue ninja? I thought they took on missions from different villages."
Hearing this, Riku realized Yugito didn’t understand much about the group at all.
He explained patiently, "It seems you don’t know the full story. Yes, Akatsuki is technically made up of rogue ninja, but each of them possesses strength that ranks at the top, even among the Five Great Nations. Most of them are at elite Jonin or even Kage-level."
"And lately, they’ve started targeting the Jinchūriki from each village."
"Several Jinchūriki have already been captured. You haven’t heard?"
Yugito and her companion were momentarily stunned, their expressions uncertain.
"Why would they be targeting Jinchūriki?" Yugito asked, clearly puzzled. "Aren’t we considered strategic weapons by our villages? How are they even capturing us?"
Though her tone remained cold, confusion was written all over her face.
Riku thought silently, No wonder Hidan and Kakuzu were able to capture people early on. These villages have no idea what they’re dealing with. They charged in blind. No wonder they were overwhelmed.
But he had some admiration for Yugito and didn’t want to see her die.
"You really have no idea how dangerous they are. Each one of them has specialized abilities tailored to subdue people like you. These aren’t your average missing-nin. They were top-level shinobi before they defected."
"I don’t know why they’re capturing Jinchūriki either, but what I do know is this — once they locate you, there’s no escaping. They always succeed."
"Your village hasn’t been targeted yet because the Two-Tails and Eight-Tails are housed in Kumogakure."
"I’ve fought against some of them before. Four of them, to be precise. All of them were Kage-level. You’re not ready for that kind of fight."
"Do you understand what I’m saying? If you run into them, you’re going to die."
Yugito and her teammate weren’t shaken by his words, but they did frown, clearly uneasy.
"That’s not necessarily true," Yugito replied coldly, ignoring his warnings.
Kumogakure had never worked with Akatsuki, nor had they produced any rogue ninja who joined them. As a result, the village’s knowledge of the organization was limited. Even the Fourth Raikage didn’t fully understand them — let alone two Jinchūriki.
Riku looked at the two women. "If it came down to a straight-up fight, maybe you could take one or two of them. But if they use their abilities without you knowing anything about them? You’ll die before you even understand how."
"There would be no hope of survival."
Yugito looked like she was about to protest, so Riku calmly interjected, "Don’t argue just yet. Let me ask you this — what would you do if there was a ninja who could kill you by using your blood in a ritual to kill himself?"
Yugito’s eyes narrowed. "How could there be such a jutsu?"
Riku stared at her and said evenly, "Unfortunately, one of them has exactly that kind of jutsu."
"And not only that, he’s immortal. He performs the ritual, kills himself, and inflicts the exact same injuries on his target."
"But because he’s immortal, he survives. What about you? Are you immortal? If you fall under his technique, what do you think will happen?"
"The outcome is simple — he walks away, and you’re dead."
At that, both women fell silent, their expressions grim.
After a long pause, Yugito finally turned to Riku. "Why are you telling me all of this?"
Riku looked up at the moon and said quietly, "Because I find you interesting. I don’t want you to die."
"And that’s just one of them. There’s another with five hearts — five lives. He can use all five chakra natures, and his power is overwhelming."
"You wouldn’t stand a chance against him."
"Then there are others — like one who wields the Sharingan. A single genjutsu can completely control you. Don’t argue yet — you know what the Mangekyō Sharingan is. Back in the day, it was used to control Kyuubi instantly. Do you really think you’d be an exception?"
Truthfully, the information Riku was sharing could easily be verified.
The fact that Uchiha Itachi possessed the Mangekyō Sharingan wasn’t a secret.
As Riku continued, the weight of his words began to sink in. Yugito and her teammate grew more serious by the second.
These weren’t enemies that could be dealt with through brute force or basic tactics.
If they encountered these kinds of foes without prior knowledge, they’d lose for sure. Just one encounter with the immortal could easily spell death.
Still, what surprised the two of them most was Riku’s claim — that he was sharing all of this because he didn’t want Yugito to die.
She didn’t quite buy it.
"I don’t really trust you."
Riku met her gaze calmly. "You don’t need to. Just remember what I said — don’t get yourself killed. You might be from the Cloud Village, but it’d be a shame if someone like you died."
Yugito looked down, brow furrowed. "I’ll remember everything you said. But I still don’t understand your motives."
"And those ninja you mentioned — the one with the Mangekyō Sharingan. He’s from Konoha, right?"
Riku didn’t bother dodging the question. He smiled. "Tell me — where else would you find someone with the Uchiha clan’s Sharingan besides Konoha?"
"And you should know something about the Mangekyō Sharingan."
Yugito nodded. "I’ve heard a little. They say it can control tailed beasts."
"But Jinchūriki usually aren’t affected by genjutsu," she added.
Riku shook his head. "That depends on who’s casting it. If it’s a Mangekyō Sharingan, it doesn’t matter if you’re a Jinchūriki. You’re still vulnerable."
"Tsukuyomi, for example, isn’t just any genjutsu. Its control over Jinchūriki and tailed beasts is formidable."
"In fact, you don’t even need the Mangekyō. A powerful enough Sharingan can still put a Jinchūriki under genjutsu."
"Like this~"
Riku reached out, gently pinching Yugito’s chin and lifting her gaze toward his.
In an instant, her expression went blank — her body frozen in place.
He released her and lightly tapped her shoulder.
As the genjutsu broke, Yugito staggered slightly, her body shivering with a sudden chill.
"H-How is this possible? You put me under genjutsu in an instant. That shouldn’t be possible..."
Even Matatabi inside her stirred uneasily, trembling.
This guy is terrifying, the Two-Tails whispered in her mind. He could kill you without lifting a finger. I’m not joking.
