Chapter 230 : Myojin Gate, Suppression Of Nine Tails
But Kurama wasn’t shocked. A dozen giant torii gates suddenly dropped from the sky.
"Boom..."
"Boom~"
"Boom~"
One after another, the massive torii slammed down, pinning Kurama’s nine tails and its head firmly to the ground.
Standing on a treetop, Riku calmly observed the Nine Tails, now completely restrained beneath the weight of the Myojinmon.
Kurama’s expression shifted. It recognized the technique. "Isn’t this the First Hokage’s sealing jutsu? You—how could you—?"
Before it could finish, the suppression intensified. Chakra was forcibly sealed and absorbed by the torii of the Myojinmon.
"Damn it... You actually mastered this jutsu!"
Back then, the First Hokage had used this very technique to restrain it, and Mito Uzumaki had sealed it into herself using the Uzumaki Clan’s sealing arts.
Never did Kurama expect that Riku would have also mastered this technique—a jutsu specifically designed to suppress tailed beasts.
But this jutsu could only be used after mastering Wood Style. How could Riku know it? That was the terrifying part.
Kurama stared at Riku standing calmly atop the tree, and as it connected the dots, a chill ran through its massive frame.
"You—"
Before Kurama could finish its thought, Riku flashed before it, hands already forming the Eight Trigrams Seal.
In an instant, Kurama’s chakra was forcibly pushed back into Naruto’s body, locked in place. A secondary seal was added atop the original one Minato Namikaze had placed.
However, Riku didn’t completely sever the chakra flow. He still wanted Naruto to eventually gain control over Kurama’s power.
Kurama’s enormous form began to shrink like a deflating balloon, until it fully merged back into Naruto’s body.
Naruto now lay motionless beneath the torii gate.
His body was torn and bloodied—barely a patch of skin left untouched.
His breathing was shallow.
At that moment, Kakashi appeared beside Riku in a flash.
Staring at him in disbelief, Kakashi muttered, "Riku... that jutsu..."
Riku turned to him, paused, then said calmly, "It’s the First Hokage’s sealing technique. I learned it from the Senju Clan."
Kakashi nodded, understanding that Riku didn’t want others to know he had mastered Wood Style.
Looking at the towering red torii gate, Kakashi could hardly believe his eyes. "I still can’t believe it... You’ve mastered a sealing jutsu this powerful. And on top of that—senjutsu. You’re truly something else."
With a casual wave of his hand, Riku dismissed the Myojinmon gates.
Then he walked over to Naruto, knelt down, and began using medical ninjutsu, his palms glowing with green light.
Riku’s powerful healing technique began taking effect immediately.
Naruto’s torn flesh began to knit back together at an astonishing pace.
Soon, Sakura ran to Riku’s side and knelt across from him, joining him in healing Naruto.
On Naruto’s abdomen, the new Eight Trigrams Seal was clearly visible—Riku’s handiwork.
While treating Naruto, Sakura glanced up at Riku.
"You were incredible just now, Riku."
But Riku remained composed, focusing on his work. "Protecting you and completing the mission was the task Lord Hokage entrusted to me. I’ve never failed a mission."
Sakura smiled. "I get it now. You’ve become way stronger than you were three years ago. You even managed to suppress a tailed beast."
Riku chuckled softly, but didn’t think much of it.
After all, now that he had awakened the Rinnegan and honed his body to its current peak, even back then, three years ago, he already had power beyond Kage-level.
Suppressing a tailed beast like Kurama—especially with his Mangekyō Sharingan, Wood Style, a wide arsenal of sealing jutsu, and senjutsu techniques—was never beyond him.
Even without the Rinnegan, he could’ve done it easily three years ago.
By now, Temari, Gaara, and several other Sunagakure shinobi had rushed over, watching Riku as he healed Naruto.
The Sand shinobi were deeply awed by what they’d just witnessed.
Riku’s power had left an unforgettable impression on them. Today’s battle was one they’d remember for the rest of their lives.
A sixteen-year-old boy had just subdued the strongest of the tailed beasts—Nine Tails—all on his own.
Such a scene might only occur once in a lifetime.
Even the legendary Third Raikage, who was evenly matched with the Eight Tails, was famous throughout the ninja world.
And Riku had just done something even more astonishing—his opponent was Kurama, stronger than the Eight Tails by far, and he had completely subdued it and resealed it inside its Jinchūriki.
Such a feat, if made public, would stir every corner of the shinobi world.
Riku’s name would resonate louder than ever.
Every ninja from Sunagakure looked at him with reverence.
His strength was so overwhelming that none of them could even hope to match it.
Soon, Riku and Sakura managed to restore the majority of Naruto’s injuries, and Riku rose to his feet.
Turning to Gaara, he smiled. "I didn’t expect Kazekage-sama to still be standing."
Gaara, dropping all formal airs, replied calmly, "Thank you, Riku. If not for you, I’d be dead. And thank you to Konoha for choosing to support Sunagakure this time."
Gaara wasn’t stupid. He understood that Riku calling him "Kazekage-sama" was merely out of courtesy.
But Gaara didn’t see himself as someone who deserved to act superior to Riku—not after what he’d just seen.
Not that Gaara was ever one to posture. Despite his cold demeanor, he was always warm toward his fellow villagers.
Sakura, meanwhile, now looked at Riku differently.
After these battles, her impression of him had shifted. He wasn’t just powerful—there was something admirable about him too.
Maybe it was also because of the misunderstanding with Naruto, and the memory of what had happened with Riku during that earlier mission in the Land of Waves. She hadn’t forgotten any of it.
Riku, however, didn’t seem to notice.
Konoha’s support of Sunagakure had strengthened the alliance between the two villages even further.
Because Naruto needed time to recover, Riku and the others remained in Sunagakure for several days.
During that time, Sakura came to see Riku every day, eager to discuss medical ninjutsu.
Riku didn’t think much of it—after all, both of them had studied under Lady Tsunade. In that sense, they were like senior and junior medical ninja, and discussing healing techniques was perfectly natural.
Kakashi also came by frequently, engaging in long conversations with Riku—something they hadn’t done in three years.
Through their talks, Kakashi realized just how much Riku had grown—not just in strength, but in maturity and understanding of the world.
