Chapter 167 - 157: Regardless of the Consequences
Su Mo was awakened by noises from outside at the crack of dawn.
When she went downstairs, Fei Yan and Xuan Qing were already ready.
Fei Yan walked over, took her hand, and said, "We’ll set off after we eat."
Before leaving, Su Mo told Yue Ying, "You’ll need to go to the shop in town and deliver our stock to Ah Nuan."
Yue Ying sniffed, whining sarcastically, "Fine, fine, fine. My dear wife can go off and be romantic while I, the unloved one, go slave away for you. I’d love to, I’m just thrilled!"
Su Mo said, "Can you... just be normal for a second?"
Yue Ying gritted his teeth in frustration. ’How on earth am I not normal?!’
He shot her a flirtatious glance. "Or, you could give me a kiss. Then I’ll show you just how normal I can be."
"..."
Su Mo turned to leave.
’Who even cares. It’s impossible to get through to this shameless fox.’
The next second, he pulled her back into a tight embrace. Yue Ying smiled at Fei Yan, who was standing a short distance away. "I just need to have a quick word with my wife!"
Then, holding her, he vanished into the house like a gust of wind.
Yue Ying cornered her by the headboard, his voice full of complaint. "If things are fine with the Dragon Clan, how many days until my wife comes home?"
Su Mo replied sincerely, "I’ll... be back as soon as I can!"
But her inner thoughts were a different story.
’With the way they’re all acting... I’d be better off staying away for a while!’
Yue Ying secretly gritted his teeth. "Mo’er, don’t you dare try to fool me. If I don’t see you in three days, I’m coming to the Dragon Clan to drag you back myself!"
Su Mo frowned. "Three days is a bit soon. How about five days..."
"Three days without seeing you is my absolute limit. Stop bargaining with me!" Yue Ying scowled at her. "Give me a kiss, and I’ll let you go."
Su Mo frowned. ’Isn’t he pushing his luck a little?’ she thought.
But before she could speak, he leaned in and kissed her, silencing the words on her lips.
They had agreed on just one kiss, but it wasn’t long before his hands started to wander!
Then Su Mo heard the surprise in his voice. "Mo’er, is your period over?!"
Yue Ying’s breath hitched, and his heart began to race. "You little rascal, you were hiding it from us on purpose, weren’t you?"
Alarm bells went off in Su Mo’s head. She grabbed his wandering hand, her face flushing. "I’m still in a hurry to get going~"
A dangerous glint appeared in his eyes, like a predator staring at its prey. "What’s the rush? Don’t tell me that Long Yan is more important than me. What difference will a few moments make?"
Su Mo frowned. "Don’t you dare cause trouble! Anymore of this, and I’ll get angry!"
Seeing that she was serious, Yue Ying had no choice but to suppress the fire raging in his heart. "Fine. Then in three days, Mo’er must make it up to me."
Su Mo gave him a speechless look, pushed him aside, and jumped off the bed to straighten her clothes.
But he darted forward, blocking the doorway. "So, do you agree or not?"
Su Mo gritted her teeth. "Fine, I agree!"
’I’ll just humor him for now.’
Su Mo pulled him aside and opened the door.
Mo Xiao’s deep eyes swept over her reddened lips, then glanced at Yue Ying, who followed her out with a resentful expression.
「After Su Mo, Fei Yan, and Xuan Qing departed.」
Yue Ying looked at Mo Xiao and complained like a jilted lover, "Our wife wanted to go on a private date with Fei Yan, so she deliberately hid from all of us that her period was over. I knew it! She really does like that strutting chicken the best!"
Mo Xiao suddenly recalled smelling a medicinal scent on his wife earlier. He hadn’t thought much of it at the time.
But thinking about it now, he instantly guessed what the medicine was for.
It was to fool their sense of smell.
He never imagined his wife would use such a trick on them. A strange tightness constricted his chest.
Mo Xiao’s hand, hanging by his side, clenched into a fist for a moment before relaxing.
Just yesterday, she had told him he was her favorite.
He couldn’t be bothered to figure out whether she was just humoring him or being sincere. As long as he believed it was true, that was enough.
Su Mo slept for a while in the carriage, only to be jolted awake by a pungent, bloody stench.
The moment she opened her eyes, Fei Yan swept aside the carriage curtain and entered, his expression grim.
"Wife, we’ve reached the Dragon Clan’s territory."
Su Mo lifted the window curtain for a look. The stench of blood in the air was even stronger, and she had to fight back the urge to gag.
Her brow furrowed. "Something’s already happened?"
Fei Yan nodded. "Somehow, Jiang Wu managed to evade our notice. She launched a major assault on the Dragon Clan last night. Judging by the scene, the Dragon Clan seems to have suffered heavier losses."
Su Mo frowned. "Why didn’t he go to the North Wing for help?"
"It must have happened too suddenly for them to have time," Fei Yan said with a frown. "Jiang Wu’s forces are still lying in wait nearby, looking to strike again. She has far more people than I imagined. I fear it won’t be easy for the Dragon Clan to get out of this."
Su Mo frowned. "We need to see Long Yan at once. Let’s abandon the carriage."
"Alright!" Fei Yan immediately shouted to the person outside, "Third Young Master, let’s go!"
As he spoke, he took Su Mo in his arms and vanished in a flash of light.
At almost the same instant, Xuan Qing also took to the air and departed.
Simultaneously, several hidden arrows shot out, but they all hit empty air!
From the shadows, Ai Ci raised a hand, signaling his men to stop. He turned and approached Jiang Wu. "Wife, they got away."
Jiang Wu snorted. "She’s going to find Long Yan. No matter. We’ll just wait for the right moment to catch them all in one fell swoop!"
In Jiang Wu’s eyes, the Dragon Clan was like a cornered beast putting up a final struggle. She had already broken through most of their outer defenses, leaving only the people huddled inside.
She refused to believe that the North Wing or the Tiger Clan would truly fight to the death for a clan on the brink of annihilation. She had planned her attack on the Dragon Clan for so long. This was a battle she was determined to win, no matter the cost!
When Su Mo, Fei Yan, and Xuan Qing arrived outside the Dragon Clan Tribe, they found a scene of utter chaos. Severed limbs were strewn across the ground, and wails of agony filled the air.
The scene was one of utter desolation, with dark red bloodstains splattered everywhere.
A guard went in to announce their arrival, and soon, Su Mo spotted a familiar figure in the crowd.
Though it had only been a few days, Long Yan looked undeniably haggard. His eyes, once bright as stars, were now completely bloodshot.
It wasn’t hard for Su Mo to read the complex emotions in his eyes: self-blame, regret, and profound grief.
Long Yan hadn’t wanted her to see him like this... but he couldn’t stop the storm raging in his heart at the sight of her.
Two Little Dragons came running toward Su Mo.
The little one’s innocent eyes were filled with sorrow. "Sister Mo, so many people in the clan died... We were afraid we’d never see you again."
Su Mo reached out and stroked their heads, her heart aching. "I’m sorry. I’m late."
Nannan clung to her leg, wiping away his tears. "No, you’re not. We’re just so happy you’re here."
Su Mo looked up at Lan Ling, who stood nearby. "Didn’t I tell you to come find me at the North Wing the moment there was trouble? Why the delay?"
Lan Ling frowned in frustration. "It wasn’t that we didn’t want to go, we couldn’t get out... Jiang Wu’s forces have us completely surrounded. We had also just finished dealing with traitors within the clan. We were about to set out right when you arrived, Miss Su."
Su Mo said in a low, firm voice, "Leave immediately. Inform Mo Xiao of the Dragon Clan’s situation. He’ll coordinate with you on a strategy."
As Lan Ling was about to leave, Xuan Qing called out, "Wait!"
He took the Jade Pendant from his waist and tossed it to Lan Ling. "After you go to the North Wing, take this to the Tiger Clan. My second sister will dispatch troops to help."
Lan Ling clutched the Jade Pendant and nodded solemnly. "Understood!"
After he departed, Su Mo walked toward Long Yan. Before she could speak,
she was gently pulled into a warm embrace.
Long Yan’s low, restrained voice sounded by her ear. "Thank you."
Su Mo’s brow furrowed slightly.
Suddenly, a string of numbers flashed through her mind: *Passerby A, Affection Level: 81, 82...* The value on a virtual panel jumped frantically before finally stopping at 90.
