Chapter 129 - 126: I Want to Divorce My Husband

News that the Clan Leader had invited the Tiger Clan’s Steward and the Dragon Clan’s Lieutenant General to his home as guests quickly spread throughout the entire North Wing.

The three clans originally had little to do with one another. The Dragon Clan and the North Wing Clan, in particular, had some friction in the past and almost never interacted privately.

Now, thanks to Su Mo, relations between the two clans had eased considerably. The North Wing Clan Leader wanted to seize this opportunity to bring them even closer.

Establishing a friendship would be for the best. After all, the North Wing Clan Leader had heard quite a bit about the recent sneak attack on the Tiger Clan.

If the Dragon Clan hadn’t intervened to save them, it was hard to say whether the Tiger Clan would even still exist.

This incident served as a wake-up call. He realized he needed to maintain better relations with the other two clans from now on; after all, there was no telling what the future might hold.

The Dragon Clan’s Think Tank knew the Lord Major General didn’t want to leave just yet, so he let the two Little Dragons stay behind to keep him company while he and Lan Ling returned first.

As for Xuan Shuang’s party, she had Bai Chi and Tian Huan return to the Tiger Clan first, while she, Xuan Wei, and Xuan Qing would stay for a few more days.

They, too, were keen on strengthening their ties. After all, if it hadn’t been for Miss Su during the last incident, it was hard to say what would have become of them.

As Xuan Wei was leaving the North Wing Clan Leader’s study, she happened to run into Xuan Qing and Jin Yan.

She glanced at the dirt on the hem of Xuan Qing’s robes and couldn’t help but frown. "Did something happen?"

Xuan Qing shook his head. "I just went for a walk."

Xuan Wei didn’t think much of it.

In truth, she really wanted to explore the North Wing mountains and search for medicinal herbs that were unavailable in the Tiger Clan’s territory.

It would be best to have Miss Su accompany her, but Miss Su hadn’t been able to get away for the past two days.

After lunch, the Clan Leader had someone show them to their rooms for a midday rest.

On the way, the two Little Dragons tugged on Long Yan’s sleeve and whined, "When can we go find Sister Mo?"

"I miss her so much! Lord Major General, don’t you miss her?"

Long Yan lifted his eyes and met Xuan Shuang’s teasing, half-smiling gaze. He couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle.

Long Yan gave an embarrassed twitch of his lips and whispered to the two little ones, "Don’t talk nonsense."

"What do you mean, nonsense? The only reason you’re staying here is to get another glimpse of Sister Mo, isn’t it? You’d better hurry! The Think Tank said if you don’t make a move soon, you won’t even be able to grab the sixth spot!"

"No more nonsense! Let’s go!" Blushing, Long Yan picked up the two youngsters and vanished from the courtyard in a flash.

Xuan Shuang tilted her head, glanced at Xuan Wei, and smiled. "Those two little ones with the Lord Major General are quite amusing."

Xuan Wei nodded and glanced in Xuan Qing’s direction. "We could certainly use a couple of little ones like that. Maybe our own progress would speed up a bit?"

It was impossible to tell if Xuan Qing, who wasn’t far away, heard her remark. He simply walked off, his face expressionless.

Xuan Wei watched his retreating back and shook her head. "Look at him. I’m starting to think he was born without a romantic bone in his body."

Xuan Shuang chuckled. "Don’t worry. If his heart was really in it, he wouldn’t need anyone’s help."

Not long after they left the courtyard, Fei Yun arrived.

The Clan Leader’s Wife took one look at his expression and knew what he was about to say.

She frowned and waved a dismissive hand. "Give up on this thing with Miss Su. You should find someone more suitable."

This boy was already obsessed with Su Mo before her appearance was restored. Now that it had been, he was even more infatuated.

He had been bothering her nonstop for the past few days.

Fei Yun stood there, a look of dejection on his face. "Auntie, can’t you just put in a good word for me?"

The Clan Leader’s Wife frowned. "Take a good look for yourself. Look at the men surrounding Su Mo now. With a disposition like yours, how can you possibly compete with them?"

"I’m only telling you this because I’m your auntie. It’s better to let it go now than to be snubbed later and grow resentful! If you continue to be this stubborn, you’re just setting yourself up for a world of hurt."

Fei Yun’s ears drooped, and he remained silent.

The Clan Leader frowned. "Just focus on your medical studies with the Huang Ming Witch Doctor. In the future, when you meet a suitable Female, your auntie and I will help you make the arrangements."

"I won’t!" Fei Yun spun around and darted out of the courtyard.

Watching his retreating back, the Clan Leader’s Wife sighed in resignation. "That boy..."

The Clan Leader sighed. "It’s just youthful infatuation. He’ll probably get over it in time."

After the banquet on the third day concluded, Xuan Shuang and her siblings came to bid farewell, saying they planned to return home early the next morning.

Before leaving, Xuan Wei checked Su Mo’s pulse again to discuss the timing of her next dose of medicine.

After leaving the courtyard, Xuan Shuang couldn’t resist asking curiously, "Were you able to determine her true form this time?"

Xuan Wei shook her head. "She has no trace of Combat Power in her body. Or perhaps it’s because the poison has been eroding her for so long that her true nature has been worn away."

Xuan Shuang frowned but didn’t say anything more.

After all, that wasn’t the most important thing right now. What mattered was that the poison in Miss Su’s body could be cured.

On the third night of their marriage, Mo Xiao was, compared to the previous two nights... a little wild.

He repeatedly coaxed her into calling him "husband," then, time and again, found new ways to exhaust her.

Su Mo had tried every trick in the book, dredging up every sweet nothing she could think of, but tonight, it seemed he was intentionally trying to keep her from getting any sleep.

"I didn’t quite hear that. Say it again, Momo?"

"The way you say it is so beautiful, Mo’er. Just one more time, please?"

"Good girl... Don’t stop. I love hearing you say these things..."

Su Mo’s voice grew hoarse from placating him, but still, he wouldn’t let up.

She finally understood. Every time she tried to appease him, he only grew more frenzied!

Biting her lip, she suppressed the broken sounds escaping her mouth and protested softly, "You promised you wouldn’t bully me! That you wouldn’t go too far!"

His ragged voice whispered in her ear, "But my wife also promised that after the poison was cured, you would let me have my fill. Surely my wife doesn’t intend to break her word?"

"..."

’This is outrageous! When he wants me to cooperate, it’s all ’Mo’er, Momo, my sweet Mo’er,’ but the second he wants me to keep my promise, it’s ’wife’ this and ’wife’ that!’

Mo Xiao let out a low chuckle. "Why don’t you try coaxing me a little more, Mo’er?"

Su Mo gritted her teeth. ’He’s heard that line at least ten times tonight! No more. I’m absolutely not coaxing him again! Every time I do, he just gets more worked up!’

After that, no matter how Mo Xiao tried to coax or trick her, Su Mo refused to say another word.

Unfortunately, the devil is always one step ahead, and he always found a way to make her open her mouth...

Sometime in the dead of night, Su Mo finally couldn’t take it anymore. She hugged him, listlessly begging for mercy in a soft voice, "Good husband, sweet husband, my precious snake, my sweet-smelling snake... can we please rest now?"

’Sometimes, you just have to know when to admit defeat... I can’t take this. I really can’t.’

’If I let him keep this up, how will I ever be able to face anyone tomorrow?’

A low chuckle rumbled from above her. He turned onto his side and pulled her into his arms.

Su Mo groggily heard Little Nine’s mocking voice in her head. "Host, if you’re a rookie, you just have to practice more! With a sparring partner like this, you don’t have to worry about not leveling up!"

She was instantly so furious she could have spit nails. "You little traitor! He’s trying to kill me! I’m starting to suspect you tipped him off when we were drawing lots!"

Little Nine cried, "I’ve been wrongly accused, Host! My loyalty to you is as clear as day! And besides, you’re the one benefiting here, so don’t play innocent!"

Su Mo was on the verge of tears. "He doesn’t listen to me at all! I knew I shouldn’t have chosen him as my main husband... I want to divorce him! I’ll have Fei Yan dissolve the contract tomorrow!"

Before Little Nine could even respond, its vision was once again filled with a pixelated mosaic...

Little Nine: ’Ah... what? It’s still not over?!?’

The moment Su Mo sensed the man beside her stirring for another round, she scrambled with all her limbs to try and get away.

Before she could even get off the bed, a snake tail coiled around her and dragged her back, trapping her beneath him once more.

Mo Xiao’s deep eyes stared down at her, his voice dangerously low. "You chose me as your main husband, Mo’er. Are you regretting it?"

Su Mo’s eyes widened slightly, and she shook her head vehemently. "N-no! Of course not!"

"Then you want to divorce me?"

"...!!!" ’This blasted snake has a Heart-reading Skill, too?!’

Mo Xiao scoffed. "On what grounds does my wife intend to divorce me? Are you going to tell the Clan Leader it’s because your stamina is lacking?"

He paused, his voice dropping to an even deeper, more bewitching tone. "Or will you tell them that in bed... you can’t handle my... improper, insubordinate methods?"

Blushing, Su Mo shook her head. "I... I didn’t!"

Seeing the storm brewing in his eyes, she gritted her teeth, threw caution to the wind, and cooed, "Xiaoxiao is so cute, why would I ever want to divorce you? I can’t get enough of you~"

Mo Xiao raised an eyebrow. "And how will you prove that?"

"..."

Su Mo threw her arms around his neck and kissed him.

"There..."

Before she could finish, he was pressing down on her again.

"Let me properly show you, Mo’er, whether or not that was enough."

...

Su Mo didn’t fall asleep until the sky began to lighten.

She was fast asleep when Mo Xiao got out of bed.

As he stepped outside, he came face-to-face with Yue Ying and Fei Yan, who were standing in the courtyard.

Both of them looked rather serious.

When Yue Ying’s gaze fell on the marks on Mo Xiao’s neck, he couldn’t help but grit his teeth in resentment. ’That damned snake really wore out our wife on his last night!’

’How is anyone else supposed to get near her for the next few days? His scheming is off the charts!’

Fei Yan glanced at Mo Xiao and frowned. "There’s been trouble at the Clan Leader’s place."

Mo Xiao’s brows furrowed. He had, in fact, faintly heard some noise outside in the small hours of the morning, but he had been... preoccupied at the time.

"The Clan Leader and the Clan Leader’s Wife are both severely injured and unconscious. From the looks of the wounds, the Tiger Clan will be the prime suspects."

Mo Xiao frowned. "What’s the status of the investigation?"

Yue Ying said, fanning himself, "Xuan Wei and Xuan Shuang have alibis and are merely under surveillance. However, that third young master, Xuan Qing, has been taken into custody. He seems rather calm about it himself, but it’s a troublesome situation regardless."

Mo Xiao frowned. It was troublesome, indeed.
