Bai Wenxuan frowned. He did not have a bad temper, but he could not help but get angry when he heard Fox say such a thing. "What do you mean?"
"What do you think? Yang Wei’s mouth is so good that she cannot hide anything even if her life depended on it. She must have already told your grandmother about Aunt Yan. If it were before, Old Lady Bai wouldn’t have made a move, but now what is the situation? After finding out that there are so many resources in the safe base under Bai Meiyue, she must have thought that as long as she sent Yang Wei back with a few commands, she could use her relationship with Aunt Yan."
Fox curled his leaves and sneered. "In her heart, she might even be proud of the fact that she came up with such a brilliant plan. After all, in her eyes, as long as the Bai family exists, others will come to suck up to them."
"That’s—"
"Don’t rush to say no to me. We can wait for Yang Wei to return, and then we can listen to what she has to say, but till then, what are you going to do?" Fox asked.
Bai Wenxuan looked at Fox in confusion.
"What do you mean?"
"What else? What are you going to do about Bai Meiyue? She will not agree, as Bai Zhan said. So what are you going to do?"
This was indeed a headache for Bai Wenxuan. He rubbed his forehead with his fingers and then closed his eyes before saying, "Ask the team leader of the Special Force. Tell him that there is something that I need to discuss with him."
Two days later.
Bai Meiyue looked at the three boxes that were filled with crystal nuclei to the brim and looked at Bai Wenxuan with a hint of confusion in her eyes. She could not understand what the man was even trying to do by bringing so many crystal nuclei to her out of nowhere, and that too so early in the morning. She arched a brow and questioned, "Are you trying to prolong your stay?"
She knew what Bai Wenxuan wanted from her, but she was not convinced and deliberately pretended not to understand what the man was trying to do. In her heart, she was a bit angry as well. She had clearly stated that those who left the safe base when the base was in danger would not be allowed to return. But now Bai Wenxuan brought a bunch of crystal nuclei and even wanted to bribe her. Where would she put her face?
Bai Wenxuan smiled with slight embarrassment on his lips. He said to Bai Meiyue in a low voice, "Miss Bai, I know that this is a bit abrupt of me. But can I request you to arrange a place for Yang Wei to stay? I know what she did was not right, and I will ask her to apologise to you when she returns, as long as you let her stay in the safe base for the time being. The capital base is not safe at the moment, and she has no place to stay. No matter what, she is still the mother of my child and I cannot ignore her."
"What does that have to do with me?" Bai Meiyue crossed her legs and looked down at the book in her lap. She was reading the information on how to preserve a pregnancy and was thinking about what kind of herbs she needed to barter to stabilise Shen Zhen. "Yang Wei is the mother of your child, not mine. She caused me so many losses, and you expect me to give her a place to stay? Are you looking down on me?"
She then raised her eyes slightly and questioned, "And are you sure that Miss Yang will apologise to me if you ask her? Given her attitude and personality, I am afraid that she will throw another tantrum in my safe base. I do like the peace I am enjoying right now to bother with a half-hearted, tantrum-filled apology."
Bai Wenxuan felt a bit troubled. He knew that this matter was a bit troublesome. What troubled him was not only Bai Meiyue’s stance but also Yang Wei’s stubborn personality. Bai Meiyue was right; even if he made Yang Wei apologise, that woman would not do it willingly. What was more, even if Bai Wenxuan did not want to show it, he was actually dissatisfied with Yang Wei. She did not discuss the matter of his aunt with him and disclosed it to his grandmother, causing his grandmother to target and set her eyes on Bai Meiyue’s safe base.
That woman was way too uneasy and wilful!
Even if he arranged everything for her, Bai Wenxuan was worried that Yang Wei would not appreciate it and might even cause trouble for him.
"Is there no way around it?"
"Of course there is." Bai Meiyue closed the book and looked at Bai Wenxuan solemnly. "Tell Yang Wei to bring as many medicines as possible, plus the ones that can stabilise a foetus. There should be additional incubators and other machines as well. If you want to stay at a safe base, then naturally you will have to pay the price for it."
"Miss Bai, you know that medicines and medical resources are really hard to get; even if the capital base has them, it will be difficult for me to get them." Bai Wenxuan was unwilling to hand out the medical supplies, and that too for Yang Wei. These medical supplies were really hard to get, and they had collected them after much trouble and sacrificing a lot of ability users. How could they hand these supplies away without getting anything in return?
Bai Meiyue chuckled. "Then you can ask Yang Wei to return. This is my condition to let her in, if you refuse to hand over the medical supplies then you can always ask her to go back. She is not my responsibility."
