Bai Meiyue was in a dilemma. She first dealt with her checkup and then went out of the hospital in a daze. When she returned to her mansion, Bai Meiyue did not know what to do about the matter at hand. She wanted to be fair, but at the same time, she was indeed worried about her child as well. "Xiao Wu, go and call Lu Yu. Tell him that there is something that I want to talk to him about."
"Yosh, Boss!" As soon as Xiao Wu heard that Bai Meiyue wanted to say something to Lu Yu, he immediately dropped whatever she was doing and rushed toward the mansion where Lu Yu lived.
With Xiao Wu searching for Lu Yu, it did not take long for the man to arrive at the mansion. He took one look at Bai Meiyue’s solemn expression and his heart skipped a beat. Did something happen?
He glanced at Bai Meiyue’s belly and then questioned in a hurry, "Is something the matter? Did something happen? Do I need to take you to the doctor? Miss Bai, don’t think that I am being too nosy, but I think you need to start being careful. You are going to give birth to a child very soon, but you are still running around left and right. "You!" Bai Meiyue was speechless. She called the man to help him, but instead, he gave her a lecture about not running around the safe base all day long. "Doctor Shen? What about her? Isn’t she pregnant–"
"She is indeed pregnant, but the child that she has conceived is unstable. It is weak and requires additional support. If the medicines, injections and everything else are not arranged, then I am afraid that the child will be miscarried. Doctor Shen is worried about the safe base and me being pressured, so she doesn’t want to tell you the truth. But I believe that this is not something that I am capable of holding onto. Bai Meiyue heaved a sigh of relief after she finished speaking. She was really troubled after finding out the truth and felt relieved after telling the truth to Lu Yu. She closed her eyes and breathed out. She could always arrange these things with the barter system for Shen Zhen, but she also wanted to test Lu Yu. What was the point of her working so hard if Lu Yu was not even that sincere toward Shen Zhen?
There was also the matter of her medical skills that she had learned from the books. She could always help Shen Zhen stabilise the child, but before that, she wanted Lu Yu and Shen Zhen to have a clear talk, lest the two of them think that she was crossing her boundaries. She was not being cruel; she just wanted to be sure of their plans before making any plan of her own.
"The child...is unstable?"
"That’s right. You need to go and talk with Shen Zhen, ask her what she needs to stabilise the child in her womb and arrange things thoroughly. I know that she is worried that I will have to take care of the entire safe base, but I would rather do that than let your child die because of mine. Go and take the team with you; I will take care of the safe base." As she finished speaking, she raised her hand and waved at Lu Yu, asking him to go and deal with the important matters first.
She chose to tell the truth, not because she was not worried about the safe base’s safety or because she thought that she was too strong and capable to deal with everything on her own, but because she did not want to owe such a big favour to the two of them. If the child died, then not only would she owe them a favour, but also Xiao Cai, what would happen then? In this world, no one knew when the feelings of a person would change. The last thing she wanted was someone to use this favour as a means to make her son putty in their hands.
And Shen Zhen was correct. Even if Lu Yu believed and followed Lei Qian, what if he thought that she and Lei Qian had snatched his child away from him? That would only make him hate them and Xiao Cai. What if he tried to ruin her son in his hatred? So it was better to nip this problem before it even started.
