Chapter 824: Zombie King (II)
Bai Meiyue raised her head and looked at the towers that were flashing red lights, and knew that the zombie king had closed in on their safe base. She clenched her fists while holding her pregnant belly with her other hand. She said to Lei Yan, "You return to your mansion and keep an eye on things. Make sure nothing goes past you; I will go and see what is going on."
"Sister Yueyue! Do you really have to go?" Looking at the situation, it seemed like something dangerous was closing in on their safe base. How could she let Bai Meiyue deal with this trouble? When Lei Yan saw only the A and S ranking ability users rushing in towards the towers, she became really worried. It seemed like there was something dangerous heading toward the safe base, and she could not leave Bai Meiyue alone.
"Listen to me." Bai Meiyue knew that Lei Yan was worried, but she also knew that she could not leave this matter alone. She caught Lei Yan by her wrist and said to her in an urgent whisper, "Listen to me clearly. I know that you are worried, but I cannot leave them to deal with this danger alone, alright? I am the head of the safe base. As the one who established this safe base, I have responsibilities that I need to take on even if I am not willing."
Bai Meiyue was the leader, and if she hid behind a bunch of men despite being the leader, who would respect her? What was more? She knew that these people could not deal with the zombie king. If they did not work together, then there was a good chance that they might lose both their army and the country as well.
With that, she rushed out and arrived at the tower. Bai Meiyue climbed up the stairs as fast as her heartburn would allow and then reached the top. Sure enough, as soon as she arrived at the top, she realised that the zombie king was rushing toward their safe base. Behind him was a bunch of zombies that were marching straight toward the safe base. They were aligned and well stabilised.
Just like an army of undead.
"The fire ability users, target the zombies in the front line!" Bai Meiyue shouted as she commanded the ability users behind her. "The water and long-distance ability users charge at the ones behind. Leave the zombie king alone."
Many ability users would attack the zombie king and leave the zombies around him. But what they did not know was that the zombie king relied on the crystal nuclei of countless zombies following it. So as long as the zombies around him were alright, he could always regenerate himself by using the crystal nuclei of the zombies around them. These zombies were not his soldiers but survival rations!
Though the ability users were surprised when they heard Bai Meiyue’s command, they still followed what she asked them to do. They attacked the zombies instead of the zombie king. Soon, the roars of the zombies echoed in the surroundings as the ability users started to attack them one after another.
Meanwhile, Bai Meiyue turned her attention to the zombie king. She naturally knew that she could not leave the matter to the defence system alone. She summoned three to four gigantic ogres. They were just as big as the zombie king, and with Bai Meiyue controlling them, they rushed straight toward the zombie king. Four ice clubs came down on the zombie king, causing the gigantic monster to slump and slow down.
However, the zombie king was not a simple zombie. Not only was he powerful enough to control the zombies, but he was also even more swift and agile than the ice ogres. It dodged and lurched at the ogres, taking two down at the same time, while the other zombies attacked the other two zombies. Seeing this, Bai Meiyue narrowed her eyes. She immediately released the ice parasites that she had hidden on the ogres while exploding the four ogres one after another.
The zombies did not have any temperature and were colder than humans, but the zombie king was different. Its temperature was higher than that of low-ranking zombies’ because of the continuous surge of nuclear energy that it had absorbed.
Bai Meiyue pursed her lips and snapped her fingers, causing ice shards to cut the heads of countless zombies while attacking the eyes of the zombie king.
ROAR!
The zombie king let out another roar as it turned blind due to the shards that were now embedded in its eyes; it swatted its hands and tried to attack the shards that were hurting it, but with its vision gone, the zombie king could not make a move.
"Start the defence system!" Bai Meiyue waited until the zombie king was injured enough before activating the gravity control. As soon as the defence system was started, the zombie king flattened on the ground and seeing this, Bai Meiyue heaved a sigh of relief. If not for the injuries that the zombie king suffered from, this monster would have never fallen to his knees. She sucked in a breath and commanded, "Attack! Use all kinds of attacks to kill him before he recovers his strength."
The zombie king could not see for the time being and was only confused for a short moment. If they did not clean it up soon, then Bai Meiyue was worried that it would start collecting the crystal nuclei with the help of his other senses. They had less than five to ten minutes, and they needed to kill that thing before the time was up.
As soon as her command fell, the ability users immediately started attacking the zombie king.
Bai Wenxuan noticed the explosion happening outside and could not help but wonder, "What is going on?"
"It seems like the ability users are dealing with the zombie king. The safe base was under attack and they rushed to clean the monster up."
