Chapter 773: Defenses were breached
Bai Meiyue was not the kind of person who would just move past something if she was angry. Since she was upset with Bai Feng, naturally, she was not going to share water with them.
"How could she do that?" One of the ability users couldn’t help but exclaim. "We are in such a situation. How can she ignore our life and death just like that?"
"That’s right. Does she have no humanity left in her heart?" another one scolded Bai Meiyue right away. He felt that the woman was being too petty; since she had helped them till now, she should just continue helping them! But at the same time, he blamed his leader. Why did he have to keep harping on keeping this woman alive? Was it really necessary to keep Bai Xue alive?
Everyone had noticed that Bai Meiyue hated Bai Xue, and as long as they wiped this woman off their team, everything would be fine. But Bai Feng was stubborn. He refused to even touch that woman, even though she had already dragged their entire team down the path of death!
Bai Xue also noticed the less-than-friendly glares pointed at her, and her hatred toward Bai Meiyue started to increase tenfold. She really hated that woman. If not for her, then she wouldn’t be in this situation. It was all because of her!
While Bai Xue was busy blaming Bai Meiyue, the latter was busy listening to Fox and his team’s report.
"There is no point in travelling to the east; the mutated bug wave is really troublesome there. And in the west and the north, the corpse tide is really thick and strong. There is no point in travelling through these streets either, which leaves us with the south. Now, there is a small archway. The corpse tide cannot pass through this archway at the moment. The high-ranking mutated zombies had not travelled there, so the archway had blocked their tide—but it won’t take a long time for them to travel there. If we want to escape from this safe base, then we have only one chance."

Bai Meiyue didn’t stop him because she knew that even if she had levelled up by another level, there was no way with her cultivation level that she would be able to deal with so many zombies at once. Even if she and Bai Feng joined their hands and abilities, taking care of these zombies was impossible. This tide of zombie corpses could easily take down an entire safe base; taking down forty to eighty ability users was an easy task for it.
And Bai Meiyue also understood that the reason why they could survive till now was that the zombies were not targeting their teams at the moment. They were out of control and not led by any zombie leader. But soon, a high-ranking zombie would sooner or later take over the tide of the zombies and start controlling them. This tide would soon be divided into various small tides led by strong and high-ranking zombie leaders. They would fight against themselves and then choose the zombie king, who would then reign over the entire zombie tide.
They had to leave this space before that happened, or else the zombie king would certainly lead the entire tide over to where they were hiding. After all, just as the high-ranking zombies were a temptation to the ability users, the high-ranking ability users were also quite a temptation to the high-ranking zombies, who could devour their soul essence to level up!
Bai Meiyue was not a holy mother, nor did she have an oddly kind heart. She was not going to work hard and save everyone. At most, she could work hard and make sure that her team would be able to survive this predicament. As for the rest, she couldn’t care less about anything.
"I already arranged for aviation rescue. Wenxuan has arranged everything, and we have provided the coordinates to the ability users who were left behind at your safe base. Wenxuan has told me that they had just stopped at an airport to take care of the fuel problem, and then they will come to rescue us tomorrow. We just need to wait on the roof."

Bai Meiyue nodded; however, she was still a bit worried.
She was not worried about rescue. She was worried about the current situation, seeing how the mutated bugs’ tide was getting diverted due to the corpse tide; it was a matter of time before they would scatter around because they wouldn’t find fresh human flesh. The mutated bugs survived on humans rather than on corpses, which meant that they would certainly start looking for a new place to feed, and the closest was her safe base that was still developing at a leisurely pace!
"You can contact the ability users of the safe base? Then tell them to start arranging for the defences against the mutated bugs. It won’t take more than a few days for this wave of mutated bugs to arrive at the safe base. Tell them to keep their guards up."
Bai Meiyue then turned to look at her brothers and arranged for them to go downstairs and kill the zombies on the ground floor; if the zombies were allowed to trespass, then they would create quite a ruckus for their team. So it was better to kill them before they could become a menace!
While the Bai brothers were defending against the zombies, Bai Feng’s defences were breached!
