Chapter 123: Unbelievable
Old Ji looked at Fu Mingxue.
He had noticed her a moment ago—an exceptionally pretty young girl.
He had thought she was a young relative Old Zheng had brought along.
’How did she end up being the designer of this draft?’
He had been on the verge of saying, "Old Zheng, stop messing around."
But seeing Old Zheng’s serious expression, he knew the man wasn’t joking with him.
Instantly, the way he looked at Fu Mingxue changed completely.
"This is your preliminary draft?" He didn’t question whether she was the one who had drawn it.
Fu Mingxue nodded. "Yes, it’s the preliminary draft!"
"Then tell me your thought process for this part."
The spot Old Ji pointed to was the same one Director Zheng had asked about earlier.
This time, Fu Mingxue’s answer was even more detailed than before.
After she finished, she added, "This is just the first version. I think it still needs a few more improvements. The drawing is a bit crude."
Old Ji was speechless.
’This detailed, and she still calls it crude?’
’This is even better than my own annotations.’
"Then how many days will you need for the final version?"
Fu Mingxue was very certain, so she answered with confidence, "Three days."
’Three days?’ Old Ji thought, stunned.
’Heavens, this girl is a talent. And a talent the research institute desperately needs right now.’
"Can you stay here at the research institute to draw it? Don’t worry, there are dorms with food and lodging. I’ll arrange everything for you."
Fu Mingxue nodded. "I can do that."
Then she added, "I’ll go home first to get a change of clothes and let my family know, so they don’t think I’ve gone missing."
"It’s a good chance to return the bicycle I borrowed, too."
"Then give me your home address. I’ll have someone pick you up directly in a little while."
Fu Mingxue was about to say that it wasn’t necessary to go to such trouble, that she could come back on her own.
But then it occurred to her that they probably just wanted to know where she lived.
After all, the research institute she was about to join wasn’t just any ordinary workplace. They would have to run a background check on her.
So she nodded. "Alright!"
Director Zheng immediately said, "Then you should head back first. You can just leave the bicycle key in my office. Here’s my office key."
Fu Mingxue took the key and left the research institute.
The moment she was gone, an excited Old Ji asked Director Zheng, "Where did you find such a treasure?"
"She’s that student, Fu Mingxue, the one I told you about who got a perfect score in math and physics."
Old Ji’s pupils contracted. "That’s her? She’s Fu Mingxue?"
Director Zheng nodded. "Yes, that’s her. She came to the university to register today, then found me with this blueprint."
"I asked her a few questions and confirmed she designed it herself. I thought she would be brilliant at the university, but I never expected she’d already be this incredible."
"If this works, if we can produce it, then—"
He didn’t finish the sentence, but Old Ji understood.
This was a step forward for scientific research.
"I’ll bring you her file tomorrow."
"Alright." But Old Ji still had to go through the proper procedures.
With no time to spare for Director Zheng, he left with the blueprint.
First, he went to his office and made a phone call—
Fu Mingxue first rode the bicycle to the university.
She didn’t go to Director Zheng’s office, but went looking for Yan Feng instead.
As it happened, Yan Feng was still at the registration area.
"Senior Yan, here’s your bicycle key. Thank you!"
Yan Feng hadn’t expected her to return the bicycle key so quickly.
He readily took the key. "You’re welcome. By the way, I think I saw your family leave."
"Okay, thank you," Fu Mingxue said.
Since they had all gone back, she didn’t need to deliberately search for them on campus anymore.
