Chapter 121: Questioning from Director Zheng
The moment Director Zheng heard the name, the look in his eyes instantly changed. "Fu Mingxue? You’re Fu Mingxue?"
Now it was Fu Mingxue’s turn to be stunned.
’Why is this department director so excited?’
’Does he know me?’
Then she remembered her exam score.
"—Yes, I’m Fu Mingxue."
"Then come inside and we’ll talk." Director Zheng stopped heading out.
He went back into his office.
Fu Mingxue followed him in.
"Miss Fu Mingxue, what can I do for you?" Director Zheng was delighted to be speaking with the student who had achieved such an incredible score.
’This girl is a future pillar of our nation!’
Fu Mingxue didn’t waste words, simply pulling the folded blueprints from her green shoulder bag.
"Director Zheng, these are some blueprints I’ve been working on for a while. They detail improvements to an engine’s power unit."
Director Zheng was speechless.
’What did I just hear?’
’Improvements to an engine’s power unit?’
’But... she just got accepted, didn’t she?’
He skeptically took the blueprints—but the moment his eyes fell upon the designs, they lit up with astonishing brightness.
"These are my initial drafts," she explained. "Once this new type of engine is manufactured, it will have applications in the aerospace field, including for aircraft."
Director Zheng was so excited his hands began to tremble.
Any expert would recognize the importance of these blueprints at a glance.
He looked up. "Did you really design these?"
Fu Mingxue didn’t blame him for his skepticism; anyone in his position would be doubtful.
She nodded. "Yes, I did. I only finished them last night."
"This is not something to be taken lightly. If you really did design these, then start by explaining your thought process for these sections here—"
It wasn’t that Director Zheng was being needlessly strict; he had to be absolutely certain that she had drawn these herself.
The value of these blueprints was immense—they were critically important.
Fu Mingxue’s gaze followed his finger to the indicated sections, and she began to explain, her words clear and articulate.
Half an hour later, Director Zheng was completely convinced that the blueprints had indeed been created by the young woman standing before him.
His expression turned solemn. "Come on. You’re coming with me to the Research Institute right now."
"Ah, right now?"
"Yes." Director Zheng nodded gravely.
"—All right. But my family is still waiting for me at the registration desk. I need to go tell them to head home without me."
"Fine." Director Zheng agreed, but after a moment’s thought, he added, "I’ll go with you. That way, we can leave directly."
Fu Mingxue was taken aback.
’Is there really a need to rush this much?’
"—Okay!"
They quickly arrived at the registration desk.
"Mom—"
At Fu Mingxue’s call, two mothers looked up at the same time.
"Mingxue, what’s—"
"Mom, Director Zheng and I have some business to attend to, so I can’t give you a tour of the campus today. I won’t be able to head back with you, either. How about you two look around by yourselves and then head home?"
Mrs. Qin looked a bit dazed for a moment before nodding. "—Oh, okay! Don’t worry about us, you just go handle your business. We’ll take care of the children."
"Okay then, Mom, I’m off." Fu Mingxue turned to Director Zheng, who looked equally shocked. "Director Zheng, let’s go!"
Director Zheng snapped out of his stupor. "Ah, right!"
Then, unable to stop himself, he quickly asked, "You’re married? With two children?"
Fu Mingxue’s answer was direct. "Yes, I’m married, and these are my two children."
Director Zheng was speechless once again.
’So young, with such a promising future, and she’s already married with children.’
Seeing the expression on the director’s face, Mrs. Qin thought for a moment before deciding to clarify. "Director Zheng, these are the children of my son’s comrade-in-arms; he adopted them."
She didn’t want anything to hinder her young daughter-in-law’s future.
