Chapter 92: Asking Her on a Date Isn’t a Big Deal, Is It?!
Lily looked at the sly princess extending her hand towards her as she started reconsidering the life choices that had led to this exact moment.
It had been exactly an hour ago when she had seen the white-haired weirdo slumped on a bench in the garden, seemingly lost in his thoughts, before she decided to follow him.
It was definitely not because she wanted to see where he was going. It was just that his behaviour had been strange. With everything he had been doing lately, she had expected him to choose the same elective as her.
Not that she cared.
But she... was simply curious.
Even when Rwar tried to claim that her curiosity was actually concerning, Lily immediately refuted her with a perfectly reasonable explanation which made even Rwar speechless for a moment before making her way towards the classroom.
Only to see the sly princess in front of her stage a fall that had looked completely avoidable, all just to fall onto the weirdo.
Normally, she wouldn’t have cared but the princess falling right in her path would have caused unnecessary drama and delayed her from finding an actual seat in this class, whose purpose she had no idea about.
[...As if she was in your path. You simply walked faster to catch her.]
Rwar said something in her mind but Lily ignored her.
She had only saved the princess for that reason... and nothing else.
And now the princess was thanking her for it.
But somehow, instead of feeling indifferent, Lily found herself annoyed by this orange-haired princess for some reason.
’Rwar, can you eliminate her in her sleep tonight? She is annoying and why is she smiling at me like that.’
’I don’t like her.’
She sent the mental command to Rwar, who simply refused.
[You are not in the right state of mind, so I will be ignoring your commands for a while, Lily.]
’Tch.’
Even Rwar couldn’t understand what it was about this sly princess but she was adamant about not killing her.
So, all Lily could do was click her tongue before taking the princess’s hand with an expressionless face.
"Nice to meet you as well. I am Lillian."
Her grip was tighter than usual but the princess barely even budged. Instead, she smiled as though she had succeeded in something Lily couldn’t understand.
"Thanks for getting along with Zenith."
Seles thanked Lily as if she genuinely cared about who that weirdo got along with and who he didn’t.
Lily simply stated the truth.
"He gets along with me."
She replied bluntly as she noticed the weirdo glance in her direction before suddenly interjecting.
"Oh, right. Seles, I wanted to talk to you about something. You know... the thing we discussed before."
He immediately pushed Seles out of the classroom after giving Lily one brief glance.
"We will catch up later, Lily."
As if I care.
Lily simply shrugged and walked out of the classroom before making her way towards the training hall to spar against a few golems.
Because... for some reason, she really wanted to punch something.
[...]
Meanwhile, Rwar watched the entire interaction from the shadows and arrived at only one conclusion after seeing everything.
That boy had definitely used some kind of black magic on my poor child.

Meanwhile, as Seles walked alongside Zenith, her thoughts kept drifting back to the blonde commoner she had met a few minutes ago.
She already knew everything about her.
Lillian.
The only commoner in history to be placed into the class of high nobles from the very beginning.
It was something that had never happened before and from everything Seles had heard, the girl had defeated the golem created by the Principal within seconds.
She was definitely talented.
Seles had always thought that maybe that was why Zenith always sat with her at the back of the class and maybe that was also why he had stood up for her.
But the way that girl had saved her from falling onto Zenith had triggered Seles’s womanly intuition.
So, she decided to probe her.
And surprisingly, that girl was strange enough that even Seles couldn’t understand her.
At one moment, it felt as though she had some strange feelings for Zenith and the next, it felt as though she barely cared about him at all.
But one thing was certain.
The girl hated Seles for some reason.
As for Zenith, he was even weirder.
She couldn’t quite pinpoint his feelings but the fact that he had dragged her away instead of talking to that woman at least suggested that he cared more about Seles than her...
...or at least, that was what he wanted to make it look like.
But which of those conclusions was actually true was something even she couldn’t figure out.
Once they were far away from the classroom complex, she looked at him again.
"So, what was it that you wanted to talk about, Zen? Ohh, is it alright if I call you that? It just seems simpler."
She smiled warmly at him and he returned it with a smile of his own.
"Yeah. You know I wanted to talk about... you know, showing you the proof of my innocence that I promised you back then. I couldn’t exactly say something like that in front of some commoner, could I?"
He chuckled, making fun of the very woman he himself was friends with, which made Seles let her guard down ever so slightly.
Maybe I am indeed overthinking.
Still, she wasn’t going to stop observing that woman.
Because of her plans, Zenith was a necessity. And if that girl really intended to win him over... then she was a liability that needed to be dealt with sooner or later.
Still, she didn’t let any of those thoughts show on her face. Instead, a brief hesitation crossed her expression as she hid her smile behind that facade.
"Ohh, that... I mean, you don’t need to prove your innocence anymore. After everything we have been through these past few days, I trust you enough to know that you could never do something like that."
But instead, he simply looked into her eyes.
"Nah, I really needed someone to share that incident with... and someone I could rely on. So, how about we meet tomorrow evening at the Central Café?"
Seles blushed, her lips trembling slightly, still completely in her act.
"...Is that a date?"
Zenith turned his face away as if he was genuinely embarrassed as well.
"Well... you can think of it however you want."
With those words, he walked away and looking at his receding back, a smile finally spread across Seles’s lips.
...This is going more smoothly than I expected.
But she wasn’t about to complain about an easy path.
She changed her direction, heading towards Academic City to shop for a few clothes for tomorrow...
... after all, fake or not, this was going to be the first date of her life.

Meanwhile, as Zenith walked back towards his room, he cursed his luck. But at the same time, he felt relieved that he had managed to divert Seles’s attention away from Lily.
Because if she kept focusing on her, he had no idea how much she might uncover, potentially ruining all of his future plans.
Still, as he walked, only one thought crossed his mind.
I just hope Rwar doesn’t feed Lily any more ridiculous theories about me.
