Chapter 404-Kicked Out Of His Mansion
Verity:
Theodore fell onto the cushions, only to spring up again and ram his shoulder into Jaguar’s stomach.
"Enough!" Ragnar roared.
The sheer aggression between them had my anxiety spiraling.
Both brothers froze and turned toward him.
"He’s fucking doing all of this just to piss me off," Jaguar complained, wrenching himself free from Theodore before putting some distance between them.
"And he’s not trying to sabotage my relationship with Verity?" Theodore fired back, pointing at Jaguar. "Where the fuck did he even come from?"
I remained on the couch, silently watching the argument.
Then my gaze drifted to the side.
Ragnar was watching me, his face completely unreadable.
"Do you see what you did?" Ragnar asked me, completely ignoring his brothers.
The two of them fell silent and looked at him before turning their attention to me.
"It’s not her fault, though," Theodore argued.
One sharp glare from Ragnar immediately silenced him.
"I’m not going to let you two fight over a woman," Ragnar said.
He pointed to separate spots, clearly indicating where he wanted each of his brothers to stand.
They moved at once. One stepped behind the empty couch, while Jaguar shifted to Ragnar’s left.
I remained seated on the sofa, looking completely innocent and clueless.
"I know you’ve felt a bond with them, but you’re not going to drag this out. I will not let my brothers foolishly keep pursuing you," he continued.
Each time his jaw tightened, his knuckles cracked.
"So you’d rather force me into making a decision? What if I realize later that I was wrong?" I asked, slowly rising from the couch. "I need some time to think."
Ragnar began nodding.
Then he pressed his teeth together and forced a smile.
It was painful to watch.
"Well then, go home, Miss Verity. Sit with yourself and think about all of this. Decide who you want. Pick one, and only then can you contact them again."
As Ragnar laid it out so plainly, both brothers visibly tensed up.
"Brother, please don’t do that. If she leaves, it’ll be even harder for us to make her choose one of us," Theodore pleaded.
The look of disgust on Ragnar’s face was impossible to miss.
"What, are you going to beg too?" he asked Jaguar.
His tone made it perfectly clear what he was thinking. He was disgusted that either of them would beg me to stay.
"I’m not going to let you two fight over a woman. She’s going to choose one of you, so let her choose. The other one will step back. Do you hear me?" Ragnar yelled.
I took a deep breath and nodded.
"I’ll pack my bags and leave."
"Exactly. That’s what I meant," Ragnar hissed.
I didn’t know what was going on with him, but he seemed even angrier today.
I honestly couldn’t tell how he felt about me sharing a mate bond with his brothers because he had barely shown any emotion about that part of it.
From the beginning, he had focused almost entirely on accusing me of playing both brothers, as if that were the only thing that mattered.
"Brother, please stop. That’s not okay. If she leaves, she’ll just leave," Theodore insisted again.
Jaguar started to come after me.
I turned briefly when I realized he had stopped.
Ragnar had caught him by the arm without even moving from his spot.
His other hand was pressed against Theodore’s chest, his fist twisted into the fabric of his shirt to keep him from following me as well.
If Ragnar thought throwing me out would end his brothers’ suffering, he was wrong.
I had already left enough of a mark on their hearts to make them anxious over losing me.
After that, I hurriedly packed my things.
The moment I stepped outside, Jenna was standing there. I had a feeling she already knew something had happened.
"What happened? There was so much shouting coming from Ragnar’s room," Jenna asked, reaching for my hand. "And why are you leaving? Come on, having you here was the only thing giving me some peace. Once you leave, Gigi will start coming and going constantly for the engagement preparations. I can’t deal with her alone."
She spoke so sweetly, pouting as she tried to take the bag from my hand.
"No, Jenna. I have to leave now," I told her, taking the bag back.
"But why? Weren’t you just asked to stay and help plan the engagement ceremony?" she complained.
The disappointment in her eyes was obvious.
It was strange. I had actually formed a genuine connection here.
Even though I had originally come for a completely different reason, leaving now felt wrong.
"Jenna, some things are difficult to explain. I can’t tell you anything right now. I’m pretty sure you’ll find out eventually, one way or another, but for now, I have to go."
I sighed, taking her hand and gently patting the back of it.
"I’ll stay in touch with you. Please take care of yourself."
With that, I gently touched her cheek before picking up my bags and heading out of the mansion.
I carried my belongings out one load at a time.
It almost felt as though Ragnar had locked both of his brothers somewhere just to keep them from coming after me and begging me to stay again.
Once everything was outside, I ordered a cab.
The driver who had been helping with my luggage kept insisting that Ragnar had told him to take me home, but I refused.
At that point, I didn’t want any kind of help from Ragnar.
After all my bags were loaded into the cab, I climbed inside.
I looked back at the mansion one last time before the car pulled away.
And just like that, I was heading back to where this entire game had begun.
The messy Omega community.
The moment I stepped inside the house, everything felt strange.
The cab driver helped carry my luggage in.
He knew I had come from the Alpha King’s Mansion, so he treated me with a certain amount of respect.
What he didn’t know was that I had been kicked out.
Once my bags were inside, I glanced toward the window and spotted none other than my nosy neighbor standing there.
The second she noticed me, she smiled.
That was enough for me to understand exactly what would happen next.
If I didn’t shut the door quickly, she would be over here in minutes, ready to interrogate me about everything.
I immediately closed it.
For now, I didn’t want to deal with anyone.
Standing alone in my house again, I looked around before letting out a long sigh.
Then I reached for the couch and slowly lowered myself onto it.
"It’s okay. It’s okay, brother. This is just a little hiccup."
I took another breath, trying to steady myself.
"Once I bounce back from this, I’m going to hit them like a wrecking ball," I promised my brother.
