Chapter 308-Meeting The Blackmailer
Verity:
I had never been so pissed off before.
He had the nerve to come to me for intimacy and put me in my place at the same time.
It was completely unacceptable.
I didn’t stick around to hear him talk to me the way Jaguar had last night.
I still had plenty of things on my mind, and I had a meeting with Oliver tonight.
I was anxious because if it didn’t work out, things would go south for me.
As I headed toward my bedroom, I saw Jaguar come inside with one of his employees beside him, studying some files.
He briefly paused to look at me, but I didn’t meet his gaze and kept walking until I reached my bedroom.
Jenna was still sleeping.
Her mother hadn’t been very happy to see her in my bedroom, but there was nothing she could do after I explained that Jenna had come to me for comfort because her father had beaten her up in front of everyone instead of letting her be an adult and speaking to her like one.
My hands and feet were actually swelling, and I was getting really anxious.
Tonight was going to be a huge test for me. It was also the night of revenge.
Oliver wanted to ruin my life just like he had ruined Jenna’s.
And I couldn’t believe Gigi had no idea.
That thought felt strange as I got ready that night, slipping into a skin-colored dress, applying red lipstick, and curling my hair exactly the way he had instructed me over text.
Of course, he hadn’t answered my call because he was afraid I would recognize his voice.
After all, I wasn’t Jenna who had only met him once.
I had dealt with both of them before.
Well, "dealt with" wasn’t exactly the right word.
I had deliberately run away before I could do anything.
This time, I was going to finish what he had started.
He had instructed me through text to wear this exact color, put on a particular style of heels, and follow everything else he had asked for.
And I had done all of it.
The neckline of my dress was quite deep, and it hugged my waist tightly.
The entire dress was fitted, making my chest appear even more prominent, while the fabric flowed more freely around my wide hips.
I stared at myself in the mirror and smiled.
"You think you can handle this?" I murmured, imagining Oliver.
He was a fool if he thought tonight belonged to him.
The irony was that Gigi was having her own brother do to other women the very thing she had accused my brother of doing to her.
That was exactly why, no matter how many screenshots anyone showed me, I still wasn’t ready to believe that my brother had done all those things.
A victim would never turn around and victimize other women the way Gigi was doing.
As soon as eight o’clock came around, I stepped out of my room and saw Jaguar and Theodore heading somewhere.
From their conversation, I gathered that they were going straight back to Gigi’s house.
For once, I didn’t even want to stop them because I had somewhere to be too, so I quickly slipped back into my wing.
If they saw me all dressed up, they would probably try to stay behind.
Men didn’t want their women wandering off, even when they themselves had been wandering around all day.
Once they were gone, I came back out and made my way toward the exit.
I didn’t need to leave immediately because I still had a few things to plan.
By the time midnight arrived, I was already on my way to the place where I had been told to go.
He had called me to some strange road, not a hotel room or anything like that.
In his text, he had told me he would pick me up from there and take me somewhere else.
The road was completely deserted.
I had arrived by cab, and now I was standing there alone.
My palms were getting sweaty.
He had made one thing perfectly clear in his message:
"One mistake, and Jenna’s video goes viral."
Trying to steady my breathing, I moved slightly to the side.
I didn’t have my phone with me, or even my purse.
He had made it perfectly clear that I wasn’t allowed to bring anything along, so I wouldn’t be able to record anything or communicate with anyone.
That had also made paying the cab driver quite difficult.
My heart began to race when I saw the car pull to a stop.
The headlights were so bright that they blinded me for a few seconds.
They remained on even after Oliver stepped out from the driver’s side, moving at a creepy slow pace.
He walked over until he finally came into view in front of the lights, his face becoming clearer.
The moment he saw me, surprise crossed his features.
"Did you ever think I’d turn out to be your blackmailer?" Oliver asked with a pout.
He looked so cocky.
I could have told him that the moment this pathetic scheme began, the whole thing had smelled of Oliver and his sister.
But I kept quiet because then he might realize I had come here for revenge.
He needed to believe he had caught me off guard.
So I stared at him with my eyes wide, playing along.
"Remember how I used to bother you?" he asked with a laugh, slowly making his way toward me.
I began taking a few steps back.
"Who would’ve thought?" He laughed. "Did you ever imagine that after achieving such a physique, gaining so much knowledge, and building such a career, you’d end up right back in my lap? At my mercy?"
He laughed again, shaking his head as if it were really that funny.
"So you’re the one blackmailing her—forcing her into all of this."
"It’s not as simple as you think. Trust me." he sighed.
Then he licked his bottom lip, making him look even more disgusting.
It grossed me out.
