Virtual Divinity

The Value of Recognition

Mistvale had transformed completely after the economic update.

The once simple village square had become a lively marketplace.

NPC merchants shouted from their stalls.

Blacksmiths negotiated prices with adventurers.

Alchemists inspected monster organs while recording purchases into thick ledgers.

The village finally resembled a living economy.

As Aster walked through the streets, he quietly observed everything around him.

A burly blacksmith accepted several wolf pelts from a player before handing over a handful of bronze coins.

An elderly tailor purchased spider silk from another adventurer.

Nearby, an alchemist carefully examined venom glands before placing them into labeled containers.

Aster slowed his pace.

"So..."

"The NPCs aren't simply buying materials."

"They're crafting with them."

He watched as the blacksmith immediately tossed the purchased iron ore and wolf fangs into a furnace.

The tailor began weaving spider silk into cloth.

The alchemist mixed venom with herbs inside glass flasks.

The materials sold by players didn't disappear.

They entered the world's production cycle.

"The economy is actually alive..."

It wasn't a scripted transaction.

Every material had a purpose.

Every purchase fueled another profession.

Divine Nexus continued to surprise him.

He continued walking until a magnificent stone building came into view.

Large golden letters were engraved above its entrance.

Mistvale Auction House

Unlike ordinary shops, players constantly entered and exited the building.

Some smiled.

Others looked disappointed.

Aster stopped walking.

"...Auction House?"

A nearby information board explained its function.

---

Mistvale Auction House

Services Available:

• Buy Items

• Sell Items

• Player Listings

• NPC Purchasing

• Equipment Appraisal

The Auction House accepts all legally tradable items.

---

Aster smiled.

"This is more convenient."

Rather than visiting several different shops...

He could simply sell everything here.

Inside, rows of counters stretched across the spacious hall.

NPC employees efficiently sorted countless monster materials.

Aster approached an empty counter.

The female clerk smiled professionally.

"Welcome to the Mistvale Auction House."

"What would you like to sell today?"

Aster opened his inventory.

One by one, he placed his common materials onto the counter.

Wolf Pelts.

Boar Tusks.

Spider Silk.

Venom Sacs.

Ironhide Scales.

Common monster cores.

Even the worn equipment he no longer needed.

The clerk quickly evaluated each item.

After several moments, she handed him a receipt.

---

Sale Complete

Items Sold: 47

Total Earnings:

20 Silver Coins

---

Aster accepted the payment.

"...Twenty silver."

His inventory immediately became much lighter.

Only his important belongings remained.

* Windrunner Boots

* Veil of the Nameless

* Shadowfang Twin Blades

* Venom Edge Skill Book

* Four Gold Coins

He quietly compared the numbers.

Twenty silver...

Against four gold.

If rumors were true...

His milestone rewards alone were worth hundreds of times more than everything he had just farmed.

"So this..."

"...is how valuable gold really is."

Ordinary adventurers would likely spend weeks...

Perhaps months...

Before ever seeing even a single gold coin.

Aster carefully stored them away.

Those coins would remain untouched unless absolutely necessary.

He left the Auction House.

His next destination was obvious.

The Adventurers Association.

---

The familiar building stood as proudly as ever.

Inside, adventurers gathered around the quest board searching for new missions.

Aster approached the reception counter.

The same receptionist greeted him warmly.

"Welcome back, Adventurer Aster."

"Would you like to receive new quests?"

"Actually..."

"I'd like to know whether I qualify for a rank advancement."

The receptionist nodded.

"Please wait a moment."

She retrieved a crystal tablet and began reviewing his records.

Suddenly...

Her eyes widened.

"...This..."

She looked up.

Then toward Aster's shoulder.

Only now did she notice the faint silver emblem hovering beside his status.

Her expression instantly became respectful.

"You..."

"...carry the Silver Emblem of Achievement."

Several nearby receptionists also turned toward him.

One quietly whispered.

"That's..."

"A Title Holder."

The receptionist immediately stood.

"Please excuse me."

"I must call the Branch Manager."

Moments later...

An elderly NPC wearing the insignia of the Adventurers Association descended from the second floor.

His sharp eyes immediately settled upon Aster.

Then...

He smiled.

"So."

"A young adventurer carrying a title."

He slowly walked closer.

"The Association recognizes achievements acknowledged by the world itself."

He nodded toward Aster's silver emblem.

"Although we cannot see the exact nature of your accomplishment..."

"We recognize that you have accomplished something extraordinary."

Aster remained silent.

The Hidden Dungeon was still his secret.

The manager continued.

"Ordinarily..."

"Rank advancement requires countless completed quests."

"But exceptional accomplishments are judged differently."

He raised his hand.

A magic circle appeared beneath Aster's feet.

The worn iron badge hanging from Aster's belt dissolved into particles of light.

A brand-new badge materialized.

Forged from polished steel with three engraved stars.

---

Adventurer Rank Promoted

F → C

---

Aster blinked.

"...Straight to C?"

The manager nodded.

"Your achievements have exceeded the standards of beginner adventurers."

"The Association rewards capability."

Not seniority.

Another notification appeared.

---

C-Rank Adventurer Privileges Unlocked

* Access to Intermediate Quest Board

* Priority Association Services

* Discounted Guild Facilities

* Access to Restricted Monster Reports

* Eligibility for Emergency Requests

* Permission to enter designated C-Rank regions

---

The manager smiled.

"Do not misunderstand."

"A C-Rank badge does not mean you are among the strongest."

"It simply means..."

"The Association acknowledges your potential."

Aster respectfully accepted the new badge.

"I'll do my best."

The manager chuckled.

"I believe you already are."

As Aster turned toward the newly unlocked C-Rank Quest Board, countless NPCs inside the hall watched him with newfound respect.

Not because of his level.

Not because of his equipment.

But because the silver emblem upon his shoulder told a silent story.

Somewhere, somehow...

This quiet young adventurer had accomplished something worthy of the world's recognition.

And that alone was enough for the Adventurers Association to open doors that remained forever closed to ordinary beginners.
