Chapter 133: Failed Attempt
After shouting at his dim-witted second brother, Mo Chen turned his gaze back toward Xiao Wu and the others. His face twisted with rage. The fact that these "weaklings" ignored their life-or-death assassination attempt was an insult to his very existence.
"You arrogant brats! How dare you ignore us!" Mo Chen roared, his temper snapping. "I'll make you pay for this insolence!"
With that, he released his High Soul Saint aura indiscriminately.
Even the fat and thin brothers were affected.
However, Bi Ji and Zi Ji did not feel a thing.
Xiao Wu, who had stayed with Wu Lan the longest, only felt a heavy burden pressing on her body, slowing her movements slightly because she had trained her body extensively and was already a high-level Soul King.
Zhuqing almost knelt if not for Bi Ji neutralizing most of the aura.
Seeing that all four of them were still standing and had only become 'immobile',
"How are you still standing?" the thin assassin stammered, his own knees shaking under his brother's pressure.
"Even I can barely breathe, yet you... you're just standing there?"
Mo Chen was shocked.
He knew the weight of his own power. A Soul Saint's aura should have crushed these girls into the floorboards. Yet the two "weak women" stood there calmly, as if his Soul Saint aura was nothing more than a light breeze.
Are they more powerful than me?
The thought flashed through his mind, but he immediately suppressed it.
Impossible! I am a High-Level Soul Saint! If they were Soul Douluos or higher, they would have detected us miles away!
While Mo Chen was questioning reality, the thin brother remained puzzled, but the fat guy, who considered himself the "smartest" person in the team, had already deduced an answer.
"Big brother, you are amazing! What terrifying control over your aura!" the fat guy said, his gaze full of admiration as he looked at Mo Chen.
The thin brother blinked, then his face lit up with realization.
"Of course! Second Brother is right! Big Brother, your control is divine! You're paralyzing them with pinpoint accuracy without harming them!"
Mo Chen's expression became a masterpiece of confusion.
His brothers' praise rang in his ears like mockery.
'I'm pressuring them with every ounce of my Soul Saint aura!' he screamed internally. 'Why on earth are they acting like I'm doing this on purpose?!'
While the Mo brothers were trapped in their own world,
Realizing the power gap, Xiao Wu did not waste time talking nonsense. She exchanged glances with Zhuqing, and both of them took the opportunity to run toward Bi Ji and Zi Ji.
"Brothers, catch her first!"
Seeing the movement, the Mo brothers became alert and rushed toward Xiao Wu to capture her.
"Hmph."
Just as they were about to reach Xiao Wu, they heard a snort accompanied by a tremendous amount of pressure that surpassed Elder Fu's aura countless times over.
In a fraction of a second, under that pressure, they knelt on the ground, and all the bones in their legs shattered.
Before they could even register what had happened, the tremendous pain caused them to lose consciousness.
"Zi Ji, don't kill them yet," Bi Ji said softly. "We need to know why they are here."
Zi Ji let out a huff of annoyance and retracted her aura.
"Trash like this isn't worth the effort of killing anyway."
Xiao Wu breathed a sigh of relief.
After escaping from danger, Zhuqing's mind immediately began working, trying to deduce who they were and what their purpose was.
"Xiao Wu, do you know them?" Zhuqing asked, remembering their words.
"No, I've never seen these ugly faces in my life," Xiao Wu replied, trying to recall every enemy she had faced so far.
"Then why were they after you?" Zhuqing analyzed. "And they weren't weak. Sending three Soul Saints for a kidnapping is a massive investment. Do you have any enemies from your past?"
Hearing Zhuqing's words, Xiao Wu recalled the cold woman from her memories who had killed her mother.
'No. If she knew I was here, she would send a Title Douluo to capture me, not Soul Saints.'
"What happened he....Noooooooo!"
A piercing scream shattered the conversation.
The girls spun around to see Ye Lingling standing in the doorway. Her eyes were wide, fixed on the unconscious assassins with a look of absolute terror.
Before anyone could reach her, her eyes rolled back and she collapsed.
Before she could hit the ground, Bi Ji caught her and immediately began examining her condition.
Only then did Xiao Wu and Zhuqing react.
"Sister Bi Ji, what happened to Lingling?" they asked worriedly.
"She's physically fine," Bi Ji murmured, her hands glowing with healing energy. "But she fainted from extreme psychological trauma. She must have remembered something terrible that happened to her."
Zhuqing looked at the assassins and then at the pale girl in Bi Ji's arms.
"Lingling must have recognized them. They aren't just random kidnappers... they're part of whatever nightmare she survived."
"Likely," Bi Ji confirmed, her gentle eyes turning cold. "Let's tie them up and lock them in the cellar. We will wait until Lingling wakes up to hear the details."
"Okay."
The three agreed and began to work.
Two hours later, the courtyard was silent.
Bi Ji and Zi Ji had expanded their mental power around the entire courtyard, ensuring that no other spies were lurking nearby.
Inside the bedroom, Xiao Wu and Zhuqing sat beside Lingling's bed.
Suddenly, Lingling bolted upright, her face drenched in tears.
"Auntie... No! Run!"
"Lingling, calm down! You're safe!" Xiao Wu and Zhuqing grabbed her hands, trying to comfort her.
Bi Ji stepped forward and used a healing skill to calm her racing heart.
After several minutes, Lingling's breathing finally slowed, though her body still trembled slightly.
"Lingling," Zhuqing asked softly, "those men... do you know who they are?"
Hearing those words, Lingling's breathing became heavy again, and her heart started racing once more.
"Th-they are the ones who killed my clan and my... my... aunt died to save me from them," Lingling said tremblingly through tears.
"What?!"
Xiao Wu, Zhuqing, Bi Ji, and Zi Ji all burned with anger.
During this period, Lingling had already integrated into the group, and they regarded her as a sister. Seeing her like this filled them with fury.
"Those bastards! I should have killed them!" Zi Ji trembled with anger and was about to rush out to kill them.
"Sister Zi Ji, wait a moment," Zhuqing said, calming her emotions and stopping her.
Zi Ji was puzzled as to why Zhuqing was stopping her, but before she could ask...
"Lingling, do you know which power they belong to?" Zhuqing asked.
"I don't know," Lingling replied, shaking her head.
"Then they might be assassins hired or raised by a certain power to do dirty work," Zhuqing said after thinking for a moment.
"Why?" Xiao Wu asked.
"Because when they came here, they did not look for Lingling. They came after you," Zhuqing spoke confidently.
Hearing this, the others also calmed down and considered Zhuqing's words.
"We need answers," Zhuqing continued, her killing intent finally leaking out. "We need to find out who gave the order. Once we know who the puppet master is... we won't just kill the assassins. We will tear out the entire root and crush it into pieces."
