Perfect Soul

Volume 2: Chapter 6: Surprise

Chapter 5:

“I appreciate spending time with you in here, Lenore.” Zerinia said with a kind smile, still wondering as to why she made it so important that they should come into the hot springs now of all times and for this long now.

“Of course, we rarely ever get to spend time together in relaxing places like this and all, especially in the recent months. From going to that Swamp Village to saving that village, it must be awful for you to be away from the castle for the rest of us!” She responded with a smile that was a bit too wide, like she knew something Zerinia didn’t.

“So how have you been keeping recently? I mean, it’s been a few days since we properly spoke and all.” Zerinia asked, wanting to keep the conversation alive while also avoiding an awkward silence.

“Oh, I’ve been doing pretty well actually, I saw that new kingdom Nanilk and his undead have been building for the past few months now! It’s going really well…but I do wonder, what’re you going to call it? This new kingdom, I mean.” Lenore asked, with a curious smile, smaller than before now that her mind was off whatever it was she was thinking about before but still happily curious about the subject in question.

“You know what? I haven’t gotten around to thinking about it, I am sure I’ll come up with something though!” She said smiling back at her before her eyes looked down into the water. “Maybe I can use the name from that ‘Vision’ I had a while back now…what was it…’Larovia’ or something? I guess that could work.”

“Well, if you need any help, just remember that I, your bestest friend in the whole world, always here to help. I mean, I am pretty amazing at naming things.” Lenore said before laying back against the edges of the hot spring with that same smile from before.

“I’ll definitely have to remember that if I don’t come up with something soon. I can only imagine how embarrassing it will be if this kingdom is ready and I don’t even have a name for it!” She said with a smile, in which both of them laughed, a warm moment between 2 close friends.

“Anyway…is there anything…special you want to do today?” She asked expectantly, a small knowing smirk on her face, like she had something in mind that Zerinia didn’t know already.

Zerinia could only raise an eyebrow back at her friend, confused by what she was talking about. “Uhm…not that I know of, is there something…you wanted to do today in particular?”

“Oh no, just wondering if there was anything special happening during today…?” Lenore asked again, asking again though indirectly, like that would somehow get a different answer, which probably would work if Zerinia actually knew what she was talking about and wasn’t stupid.

“Uhm…nope, no idea on what I have to do today.” Zerinia responded again, her facial expression still as confused as it had been since Lenore had been asking these weird questions.

“Oh, alright then…I should be getting out now, when you’re done, could we meet in the gardens? I’ve been growing this new flower that I want to show you.” And without another word or giving Zerinia a chance to respond, she scurried away out of the water and room, leaving Zerinia there all by herself.

“Uhmm…okay, I guess.” She responded, thinking her actions to be weird but whatever. It was probably time she should be leaving too. “Guess I get to see what’s in the Garden.” She said out loud to herself, waiting around 10 minutes before leaving too.

After a small while, Zerinia stepping out of her room once more, it had clearly been made up and cleaned again, even though there was basically nothing to clean as it wasn’t actually used for any purpose, but that’s another thing the beings made by the players did, more specifically, Octavian himself.

“Lenore was acting really weird back there.” A thought in Zerinia came to her mind. “Maybe something I forgot? But what could it be? I guess I’ll have to see if I can find out when I meet her in the garden now.”

She stepped outside into the late morning breeze, the warm heat of the sun resting against her skin as it would any other normal human, after all, only pathetically weak vampires unlike any vampire at Ravenscroft. Turning the corner, she made her way to the back gardens.

Standing there before her was not just Lenore, but also Octavian, Igior, Graveheart, Velkira and a woman in a red and gold kimono with pitch black hair that went down to her shoulders, who was none other than the Chef, Mixie herself.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!” They all yelled in unison, of course there were still a few of them missing, off doing their own jobs, but this was still most of them and the important ones at that.

“Oh right, I forgot I made my birthday the same date as my real birthday…it seems why Lenore was being so…strange just earlier.”
